Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Uncle, Why Is It You Again?

"Huh? Why would I go to your place?"

"I really do need to find an apartment. Otherwise, I’ll have nowhere to sleep tonight."

"We can sync up on the proposal tomorrow."

Jiang Fan didn’t want to go.

"It’s not about the proposal. The one-bedroom apartment across from my place just became available."

"You should move in. The company will cover rent and utilities as an employee benefit."

"Huh? Pure Villa?"

Jiang Fan was in disbelief. The sale prices for apartments there were astronomical, so the rent was naturally just as high.

A one-bedroom apartment would cost at least 3,000 yuan a month, and with all the various deposits on top of that, he probably didn’t even have enough cash on hand.

"That place is too expensive. I can’t afford it."

After a moment’s thought, Jiang Fan decided to refuse. For one, it was too close to Li Muwan. For another, he felt it would be imposing.

"Stop being so indecisive. Get over here. I’m calling the landlord right now."

"If it works out, you can move in right away. It’s fully furnished, ready to go."

"And don’t feel bad about it. You saved the company a fortune. You’ve more than earned a little reward like this."

Li Muwan didn’t give Jiang Fan a chance to object. She made the decision unilaterally and hung up.

Sighing, Jiang Fan had no choice but to head for Pure Villa.

On the way there, he managed to talk himself into it. ’Only an idiot passes up a free lunch!’

’So what if I move in? It’s not like I have anything to be afraid of.’

Working from memory, Jiang Fan found his way to Li Muwan’s apartment building.

As soon as he arrived, he saw she was already there waiting for him.

"We’ll have to wait a little. The landlord is on his way. We can see the apartment once he gets here."

"Alright."

Jiang Fan nodded. The atmosphere turned a bit awkward, and he wasn’t sure what to say.

After a few moments of silence, a familiar figure suddenly came into view. He was holding a ring of keys in his right hand and a dry pipe in his left.

He was grumbling under his breath as he walked toward them.

"What a damn maze. If I’d known, I never would’ve bought property here."

"It’s so confusing to get around. Where the hell is Building 7?"

"Mr. Liu? What are you doing here?"

"Don’t tell me you own a place here, too!"

Jiang Fan waved and called out to him.

"Well, well, Jiang! What are you doing here?"

Mr. Liu was clearly and pleasantly surprised to see Jiang Fan.

"I own two buildings here. Someone called me about renting a place today, so I came to show them around."

"You’re not planning on living here, are you? Tell you what, you come with me. I’ll find you a better spot later. This damn place is a pain in the ass to navigate."

"Two buildings? Do you hear yourself? Are you even human?"

Jiang Fan sucked in a breath through his teeth.

Apartments here started at over 20,000 yuan per square meter, and this guy... he owned two whole buildings.

"Um... I’m the one who called you about the apartment," Li Muwan, who had been standing to the side, spoke up.

"Ah, so this is Building 7. And you must be Li."

"You two know each other?"

Mr. Liu asked with a grin, happy to have finally found the building.

"He’s one of our company’s star employees. As a reward, the company is renting an apartment for him, which is why I contacted you."

"Oh? Is that right?"

"Here are the keys. Go on, get up there and take a look for yourself."

"If you like it, you can move right in. Rent’s the same as always."

"And let me tell you, this place is nothing like that old kennel you used to live in."

"It’s all high-end renovations. The furniture and everything is top-of-the-line."

"Since you two know each other, and you’re friends... you, Li, I’ll knock 1,000 off your rent from now on, too."

Mr. Liu tossed the keys directly to Jiang Fan, then turned and walked away without the slightest hesitation.

"Hey, Mr. Liu, what’s the big rush? Where are you off to?"

"Old Zhao challenged me to a chess match. I’m telling you, today I’m going to wipe the floor with him!"

"I don’t have time to waste jabbering with you, kid."

After Mr. Liu’s figure had disappeared into the distance, Jiang Fan and Li Muwan looked at each other, both feeling a sense of unreality.

"You know that old man? Just how many properties does he own?"

Jiang Fan shook his head.

"I know him, sure, but as for how many places he owns... I honestly have no idea."

"All I know is, they say he’s got property all over the city."

"Well, since we’re here, let’s go up and take a look."

The two of them went up to the 8th floor and opened the door to apartment 802.

Inside, the apartment was neat and clean. It was obvious it had been tidied up very recently.

Sofa, coffee table, refrigerator, television, air conditioner, washing machine...

Jiang Fan did a full tour of the place and found that nearly everything was brand new.

’Holy crap,’ Jiang Fan thought. ’Renting a place like this for what he charges me... I’m making out like a bandit!’

The layout of this apartment was even a little better than Li Muwan’s.

It was south-facing, so during the day, sunlight streamed into both the living room and the bedroom.

The natural light was incredible, and the floor wasn’t too high up.

"You really did make out like a bandit," Li Muwan agreed. "Get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, head to the office and start putting your proposal into action."

"The sooner we resolve this crisis, the sooner we can all breathe a sigh of relief."

"Otherwise, it’s just going to keep hanging over our heads like a giant mountain."

Jiang Fan nodded and asked, "There weren’t any other issues with the proposal, were there?"

"There were a few minor flaws, but nothing major."

"You must have consulted an expert, didn’t you?"

"You knew exactly what methods to use for each step, how to simplify the process, and how to get the maximum return for the minimum cost."

At this, Li Muwan’s interest was piqued. "Was it someone from the Sales Department?"

"If not, and if she’s a woman, you should consider poaching her for our company."

"We can be very flexible with salary and benefits."

"AHEM. Just a friend. I doubt she’d be interested in coming over."

Jiang Fan was too embarrassed to admit it was Yin Ruxue.

"Alright then. I’ll let you get settled. I’m heading out."

After seeing Li Muwan out, Jiang Fan sent a message to Yin Ruxue, letting her know he wouldn’t be coming back that night.

It was a new apartment, after all. He needed to do some cleaning, unpack his things, and get a feel for the place.

It was already late, and by the time he finished everything, there was no telling how late it would be.

Yin Ruxue, sitting on her sofa, read the message from Jiang Fan. Though a wave of disappointment washed over her, she simply replied with an "Okay."

’Why do I care what that scumbag thinks? It’s better if he doesn’t come back!’

’If it weren’t for Mengmeng, our paths never would have crossed.’

Yin Ruxue told herself, trying to find some comfort in the thought.
