The Goddess CEO Fell in Love with Me
Chapter 92: Discarded Girlfriend?
Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Discarded Girlfriend?
That’s right. The label she had now pinned on Jiang Fan in her heart was "scumbag."
But Jiang Fan had no idea. By the time he finished cleaning his entire apartment, it was already past 10:00 PM.
His stomach was GROWLING with hunger.
’Might as well take a shower, then I’ll splurge! A bowl of luosifen!’
"A bowl of Liuzhou luosifen, the mark of a steady man!"
Jiang Fan hummed in a low voice as he entered the bathroom.
He scrubbed himself down, enjoying the bath.
’With singing skills like mine, I’m just as good as Jay Chou!’
RING RING RING...
His phone, which had been playing music, suddenly started ringing.
’Who’s calling me at this hour?’
’Mr. Liu?’
He picked up his phone and saw that it was, surprisingly, a call from Mr. Liu.
"Where are you right now, kid? Are you settling into the new place okay?"
"It’s pretty good. What made you think of calling me? Are you going to lower my rent again?"
Jiang Fan grinned, but his smile froze on his face the next second.
"I ought to bash your head in."
"Lower your rent? You’ve got some nerve! Get your ass over here right now. You move without even telling your girlfriend?!"
"The poor girl is crouching outside your old place crying her eyes out right now."
"You heartless bastard!"
With that, Mr. Liu furiously hung up, leaving Jiang Fan standing alone in the shower, utterly bewildered.
Girlfriend?
Heartless?
Crouching at my door?
The three phrases that popped into his head made his brain short-circuit.
What did any of those have to do with him?
He was a perfectly eligible bachelor. Since when did he have a girlfriend?
And was his old, run-down apartment some kind of sacred ground? Why did everyone love crouching at his doorstep?!
When he tried calling back, Mr. Liu didn’t even pick up.
He hastily grabbed a towel, dried himself from head to toe, and rushed out.
He floored it the whole way, arriving at his old apartment.
Under a streetlight, by a small chess table, sat an old man and a young woman.
Mr. Liu was comforting the girl in a soft, gentle voice.
"Rong Anyao?"
Jiang Fan was so exasperated he had to laugh.
"Mr. Liu, Yaoyao, what are you two doing here?"
"You have the nerve to ask! Why would you abandon such a wonderful girlfriend?"
"She didn’t do anything wrong, and you move without even letting her know?"
"Did a dog eat your conscience, kid?"
Mr. Liu launched into a tirade, looking at Jiang Fan with utter disdain.
"Yaoyao, if you have any grievances in the future, just tell me. I gave you my phone number."
"I’ll help you sort this kid out. Don’t be fooled by his usual devil-may-care attitude; he’s not a bad person at heart."
As he spoke, Mr. Liu smacked Jiang Fan on the back of the head.
"He was probably just in too much of a rush this time and didn’t get a chance to tell you."
Jiang Fan wanted to explain, but one glare from Mr. Liu silenced him.
Seeing Mr. Liu making excuses for him and looking out for him, Jiang Fan would be lying if he said he wasn’t touched. A warm feeling spread through his heart.
Mr. Liu was genuinely looking out for him, afraid that Rong Anyao would be upset with him.
"Alright, alright. It’s so late, sir, you should head back and get some rest."
"I can handle things here."
Jiang Fan put an arm around Mr. Liu’s shoulder.
"Still not sleeping at this hour? Mr. Zhao is definitely going to call you a lousy chess player again tomorrow."
"You’re full of it, kid!"
Mr. Liu shot him a fierce glare, then walked away with his hands behind his back.
"Treat the girl well."
"I’m leaving now."
"Alrighty. Take care, Mr. Liu."
"Take care, Mr. Liu."
Just then, Rong Anyao, who hadn’t said a word, finally spoke up.
"Okay, okay."
"Oh, so you do talk. I was starting to think you were mute."
Jiang Fan looked at her with a half-smile.
"What are you doing here looking for me?"
"Couldn’t find me so you decided to just crouch at my door and cry, huh? Didn’t think to call me?"
"Your number..."
Rong Anyao blushed and lowered her head, stammering, unable to speak.
"I was in such a panic I forgot."
"But really, why did you suddenly move without telling me?"
"I thought... I thought you didn’t want me anymore."
"Huh?"
Her voice was so quiet that Jiang Fan couldn’t quite hear her.
"Nothing, nothing."
Rong Anyao shook her head quickly, her face bright red.
"Alright, what did you come looking for me for?"
"Hello, who’s the delivery for?"
Hearing that familiar voice, Jiang Fan cracked his neck, a speechless expression on his face.
"Bro, aren’t you about to get married? Why are you delivering food again?"
That’s right, the man standing outside holding a fancy cake was none other than Wu Qiang.
"Huh?"
"How is it you, kid?"
"And this is... your girlfriend?"
"Not bad, kid. You found yourself such a pretty girlfriend."
A teasing look appeared on Wu Qiang’s face.
"No, no, she’s not my girlfriend."
"What’s going on with you?"
Jiang Fan quickly shook his head to explain, then pointed at the cake in his hand.
"I’m getting married, right? I can’t just rely on Tingting for everything."
"I plan to buy her the traditional wedding jewelry with my own hard-earned money."
"We agreed. We’ll get married whenever I’ve earned enough money for it."
A blissful smile spread across Wu Qiang’s face.
Jiang Fan nearly choked on the sudden, public display of affection.
"Ugh, the stench of love!!"
"That cake is mine."
"You can just give it to me."
Rong Anyao said timidly.
"You ordered the cake? Phone number ending in 7330?"
"Yes."
Wu Qiang checked the phone number and saw that it really was hers.
"Why’d you order a cake? Is it your birthday today?"
Jiang Fan asked, confused.
"What a coincidence. Isn’t your birthday tomorrow, kid? Your birthdays are only one day apart?"
Wu Qiang said with a smile.
"I bought this cake for him. I came today hoping to celebrate his birthday with him right at midnight."
"But I didn’t expect you to have moved. If I hadn’t run into Mr. Liu, I might have really missed it."
"You kid... and you still say she’s not your girlfriend? A girl this thoughtful, and you’re not satisfied, huh?"
Wu Qiang had a mischievous grin on his face.
"Huh? My birthday?"
To be honest, Jiang Fan himself had forgotten.
"I guessed it from your phone password last time."
Jiang Fan was taken aback. He hadn’t realized Rong Anyao was so observant. His phone password was indeed his birthday.
"Tsk, and it’s a cake from Haiyue Square. You’re a lucky guy, kid. This is a pure, handmade custom cake. One of these costs seven or eight hundred yuan."
"And someone has to go and personally customize it."
"Alright, I won’t bother you two anymore. Let’s all go out for a meal tomorrow. I’ll leave you two alone for tonight."
Wu Qiang handed the cake to Rong Anyao with a mischievous smile, then quickly left.
After all his teasing, Rong Anyao’s face was as red as an apple.
"Um..."
Jiang Fan scratched his head, wanting to say something but trailing off.
