Chapter 453: Chapter 169: What? Someone Ate Themselves to Death at Delicious?
Su Chen also cautioned him.
"Do you think I don’t know my own stomach?" Feng Yaoyang said defiantly, refusing to give up. "It’s fine, it’s fine. I’ll just have one last bowl of vermicelli soup, and that’ll be it."
Su Chen glanced at Ah Wu. Seeing that neither man would speak up, he could only sigh and turn back to prepare the vermicelli soup.
Unlike the rice noodle rolls and pork rib rice cakes, the ingredients for the vermicelli soup were already mostly cooked.
It didn’t take long at all to prepare a bowl of vermicelli soup.
Feng Yaoyang carried the soup back to his table, looking pleased. This time, his movements weren’t as aggressive as before. He scooped up a piece of duck blood with his spoon, took a deep breath, and then...
"Ah Wu?"
"Boss?"
Feng Yaoyang’s spoon froze in mid-air. "Something feels... a little off."
"What’s wrong, Boss?"
Feng Yaoyang’s spoon suddenly clattered into the bowl. "This isn’t right, this isn’t right." He scanned the restaurant. It was packed, nearly at full capacity, with long lines still forming at the counter.
Just as he was about to take that bite, before the spoon even reached his lips, Feng Yaoyang felt a sudden, sharp pain tear through his stomach!
It was the pain of being overstuffed!
But this feeling of being overstuffed wasn’t like being drunk. It was the kind of feeling where you desperately need to throw up but can’t!
Feng Yaoyang glanced at the vermicelli soup in front of him and suddenly lost all nerve to eat it. He wanted to ask for an ambulance.
The pain was so intense that large beads of sweat had already started to form on his forehead.
But Feng Yaoyang was a man with a high tolerance for pain.
"Help me up. We’re going to the parking lot." Feng Yaoyang gritted his teeth, large beads of sweat trickling down his temples.
Seeing the situation, Ah Wu knew something was seriously wrong.
He quickly supported one of Feng Yaoyang’s arms. "Boss, how are you feeling?"
"My stomach hurts. To the hospital."
Feng Yaoyang tried to stand, but immediately cried out in pain. "It’s no use! I suddenly can’t move!"
Su Chen noticed something was wrong over at their table.
"What’s going on?" Wiping his hands on a clean cloth, Su Chen walked over. As he got closer, he saw Feng Yaoyang’s state. "President Feng, what’s wrong?"
Feng Yaoyang’s jaw was clenched tight. He just pointed at his stomach, now in too much pain to speak.
"Quick, I’m calling an ambulance!" Su Chen moved to pull out his phone.
But Feng Yaoyang immediately stopped him. "There are too many people."
There were hundreds of customers eating on the third floor.
Getting carted off by an ambulance in front of all these people... and then what happens when they ask what’s wrong?
Oh, that guy? He ate so much he had to be taken to the hospital.
’Damn it all. Feng Yaoyang had been a proud man his entire life; he would absolutely not allow something like this to happen to him!’
"At a time like this, you’re still worried about that?" Su Chen said, trying to make the call anyway. But to his disbelief, Feng Yaoyang—while enduring the agonizing pain in his abdomen—actually reached out to stop him.
Damn.
Su Chen would not, under any circumstances, allow a customer to have a medical emergency in his restaurant.
He immediately ran into the kitchen, grabbed an apron, and came back out. "Here, put this over your head! No one will recognize you!"
Ah Wu stared at Su Chen in disbelief.
’What kind of fucking solution is that?’
Unfortunately, Feng Yaoyang was completely immobilized. The sudden pain likely meant his digestive system was already weak, and the sudden binge had brought on a ferocious, overwhelming wave of agony.
Seeing Feng Yaoyang like this,
Su Chen simply wrapped the apron over Feng Yaoyang’s head and immediately dialed 911.
’So President Feng is worried about his pride? Don’t I, Boss Su, have a reputation to protect, too?’
’You get sick in my restaurant, with all these customers watching... how am I supposed to stay in business after this?’
The moment the apron was draped over his head, it immediately drew the attention of everyone nearby.
"What’s going on? What’s with that guy? Why’s he got his head covered just to eat a meal?"
"Is he eating some new secret dish and worried someone will steal it? Damn, the customers at Delicious are way too intense."
"Terrifying. Could this be the legendary ’burying your head in your food’?"
"Heh, you’re not wrong. He literally buried his head! Haha! This guy’s hilarious. Wonder where he’s from."
Under the apron, Feng Yaoyang was sweating buckets from the pain while also blushing beet-red from the comments around him. He was utterly and completely mortified.
Fortunately, the Development Zone wasn’t a particularly busy area, so the ambulance had a clear path. Plus, with the ability to run red lights, medics with a stretcher were on the scene in a mere ten minutes.
"Over here! We’re over here!" Su Chen waved to the paramedics at the door. By now, other employees from Delicious had rushed over to see what the commotion was about, and they all pitched in to help lift President Feng onto the stretcher.
"Fuck, this is so damn embarrassing!" Feng Yaoyang muttered, even as he lay on the stretcher.
"What’s the story here?" one of the paramedics asked casually as they lifted the stretcher, already sweating.
Understanding the patient’s condition would help them provide emergency care in the ambulance.
"He ate too much," Su Chen said bluntly. "Probably from drinking soup after eating all those rice cakes."
Su Chen wasn’t actually sure if rice cakes swelled up dramatically when they hit soup; after all, it was all happening inside a stomach.
Anyway, he remembered watching something on TV as a kid about a competitive eating contest with steamed buns. The moral of the story was that if you eat too many buns, you must never, ever drink water!
Without water, you’re fine. With water? You’d burst!
"What? He ate too much?" The paramedic was dumbfounded. "How much could a person possibly eat to end up like this?"
Feng Yaoyang clutched his stomach with one hand while pressing the apron firmly to his face with the other. "Stop talking," he hissed. "I have my dignity!"
