The Greatest Village Doctor In The World
Chapter 2710 - 2709: Prophecy
Ling Feng and Song Ruozhao cast their gaze towards the River of Molten Lava below, where a tiny figure, entirely red, was seen running continuously along the riverbank.
On top of its head, a flame flickered and danced. The little figure kept trying to extinguish the flame by flailing its hands, but its hands were too short, and no matter how hard it tried, it couldn’t put out the flame.
"Is there anyone? Come save me!" the little figure shouted with a sobbing voice.
The three of them observed from above for quite some time, without any intention to act, but Ling Yao slightly furrowed her brows and gently tugged Ling Feng’s sleeve, saying softly:
"Go save that child, I think it’s really out of options. It wouldn’t be good if it gets burned to death."
Ling Feng sighed helplessly and said, "Alright, I initially didn’t plan on intervening, but since Yaoyao has spoken, I’ll go ahead and assist."
Ling Feng and Ling Yao stood on Little Fei’s back and flew down to the front of the River of Molten Lava, with Song Ruozhao silently following.
The tiny figure saw two people riding an insect fly down, accompanied by a rather aloof-looking man carrying a sword, and was startled into an attempt to flee.
Ling Feng called from behind, "Hey, don’t run! We’re here to rescue you!"
However, the little figure seemed not to have heard him and frantically ran, its legs pumping while babbling some words that Ling Feng didn’t understand.
Ling Feng shook his head helplessly but continued to follow, instructing Little Fei to spit out a mouthful of refreshing healing slime, extinguishing the flames on the figure’s head, causing it to halt abruptly.
The tiny figure attempted to touch its head with its hand, still unable to reach, but no longer feeling that scorching sensation.
The little figure turned around and ran towards Ling Feng, then started to scrutinize Ling Feng and the group.
It was only then that Ling Feng noticed, despite its fiery red body, its eyes were surprisingly pale blue.
After a long look, the little figure finally spoke: "Thank you for saving me! But who are you? I’ve never seen you before!"
Ling Feng stepped forward with a smile and said, "We’re just passing through, may I ask if you’re a child?"
The little figure nodded, "I’m over three hundred years old, but here I’m still considered a child. You can call me Huo Hui."
Ling Feng introduced the three of them to Huo Hui, then asked with curiosity, "Do you know what this place is?"
"According to the elders in our tribe, this is Nine Nether’s Lava World, a very hot place."
"Do you know how to get out?"
Huo Hui shook his head, "I don’t know, I sneaked out, initially wanting to play by the lava river, but almost got lost, and nearly got burned to death..."
Huo Hui hung his head down, and Ling Feng noticed the scars on his head; although the slime had extinguished the fire, it left traces of burns.
Ling Feng asked with curiosity, "Do you live here generation after generation?"
Huo Hui nodded.
"Then why did you get burned? Logically, those living in a fire world should have some resistance to fire; otherwise, wouldn’t living here be tormenting?"
Upon hearing Ling Feng’s question, a sad look appeared on Huo Hui’s face, and he said bitterly, "I don’t know why either. Others can even swim in the lava river, but when I get close, I get scalded."
"So they don’t let me play, and the elder doesn’t allow me to go out randomly to protect me, fearing I might get burned by the high temperatures, but I got bored, so I sneaked out."
Ling Feng was somewhat surprised, looking at Huo Hui’s blue eyes, a few suspicions grew in his heart.
Ling Yao looked at the little figure with a bitter face in front of her, her maternal instincts awakened, her gaze growing tender, but suddenly saw something rather eerie.
The slime, initially meant to extinguish the flames, was trickling down Huo Hui’s neck, followed by a layer of red liquid.
The slime washed away the red color from Huo Hui’s face, and his neck seemed to fade, the red color completely receding, revealing blue skin beneath.
"What’s this?" Ling Feng also noticed this peculiar occurrence.
Huo Hui saw the red paint fading, his gaze dropping momentarily, then he retrieved a small red pot from his body.
Huo Hui scooped out red paint from it and applied it evenly on his blue skin, and soon its skin returned to its original appearance.
Ling Feng asked, "Why do you apply paint to your skin? Is it to cover the blue skin?"
Huo Hui hesitated for a moment and finally nodded. "Because everyone else’s skin is red, only mine is blue. I don’t want to be different from them, so I have to apply paint, otherwise they always point and talk about me..."
Huo Hui had put away the small jar and then walked away with his head lowered.
Ling Feng and Ling Yao exchanged a glance, stepped forward and asked, "Huo Hui, do you know how to leave here? We got lost and don’t know how to leave."
Huo Hui stopped in his tracks. "I don’t know how to get out either, but I can take you to find the Elder. He is the oldest in our tribe; everyone says he’s a wise man who knows everything."
"Alright, then let’s go quickly." Ling Feng felt the surrounding temperature rising and fine sweat began to flow from his forehead.
Ling Yao saw that Ling Feng was very hot, so she took the initiative to hold Ling Feng’s hand, transferring some of the Shui Wu onto Ling Feng, finally alleviating part of the burning sensation caused by the high temperature.
The four of them followed the downstream of the River of Molten Lava and soon arrived at the front of a village tribe.
The houses had very strange designs, with very large windows and doors. Ling Feng guessed it was to better release indoor temperature so that the people inside wouldn’t be too hot.
Although this race seemed to grow within the lava, no creature likes the burning sensation of high temperatures.
Huo Hui led Ling Feng and the others through a simple red gate into the tribe. Just as they passed through the gate, Ling Feng felt the surrounding heat all disappear, returning immediately to normal temperature.
Ling Feng felt his steps become lighter, as if moving from beside a furnace to the cool area beside a mountain waterfall.
Ling Yao glanced back at the gate, sensing everything around. She softly said to Ling Feng, "Someone has set up a barrier in this tribe to effectively isolate the outside heat."
"I felt a very powerful force from that gate; the person who set up the barrier must be an expert," Ling Yao calmly stated.
Ling Feng nodded. This was an important piece of information, indicating that the people here were not a primitive race yet to develop civilization but had evolved a cultivation system with powerful individuals governing the powerful tribe.
People kept coming and going within the tribe, but when they saw Huo Hui, their faces showed more or less disdainful expressions, yet Huo Hui ignored everything, seemingly accustomed.
"Looks like this kid is not very welcome here in the tribe," Ling Feng muttered.
Those people quickly noticed Ling Feng and the others, these outsiders with exotic appearances, showing surprise and curiosity on their faces, but more hostility and unfriendly intentions.
Ling Feng and Song Ruozhao walked naturally. Some people initially wanted to rush over and question them, but upon seeing Song Ruozhao’s Sword behind him and the cold expression on his face, they backed off.
The four quickly arrived in front of a grand building.
Huo Hui introduced, "This is the Cultivation Institute of our tribe, my home..."
"Your home is here, then you must be family with the Elder. Why do the villagers look at you like that?" Ling Feng asked.
Huo Hui smiled bitterly. "Because I was picked up by the Elder outside, my skin is blue, and my eyes are also blue. The tribespeople all think I’m a monster, so no one talks to me,"
"But since I’m the Elder’s disciple, they don’t dare do anything to me, or I would have been expelled long ago..."
"In any case, let me take you to find the Elder first; he knows a lot, surely he’ll know a way to get you out..."
Huo Hui led Ling Feng through many corridors and squares, enduring some unfriendly stares along the way, finally arriving in front of a door.
Huo Hui pushed the door open, revealing an ancient Holy Hall to everyone, illuminating the interior with many fiery red stones, and the walls were adorned with many murals.
At the center of the Holy Hall sat a red-haired elder, sitting cross-legged on a stone, resting with eyes closed.
Huo Hui walked to the Elder and shouted, "Elder, wake up! We have guests! There are a few lost people who want to ask you how to leave!"
The Elder slowly opened his eyes, slightly displeased, saying, "How many times have I told you, I can hear, you just need to speak normally, no need to shout so loudly, or you’ll wake the sleeping ancestors, and let’s see if you can sleep at night."
Huo Hui murmured, "Every time I called you, you never even opened your eyes, and you say you can hear? Besides, the ancestors have long ascended, how can they hear my voice..."
The Elder carefully scrutinized Ling Feng and the others, then his drooping eyelids suddenly lifted, showing deep shock in his eyes. At the same time, he shouted:
"Prophecy! The prophecy has come true!"
