The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 1782: Return of the Asura Race (9)
Everything happened so fast.
Before the six patriarchs knew it, they were locked behind the bars of a cage with no way to break out.
They struggled, every last one of them tapping into their escape arts, hoping to find loopholes in the cage and escape.
They understood that being locked behind bars wasn’t the most ideal way to complete the mission they had been waiting years for.
Among the billions who hated the Paragon and the Asura race, they were the only ones who knew the Asura race never really died.
They knew the Blood War was merely a front for their strategic retreat.
After all, just like the Asura race, they also live in a miniature universe, so they were aware they had been transported there. However, unlike them, the Asura had sealed themselves in there, so even if they wanted to, they couldn’t get to them.
Since that was the case, they had to wait for the day they would return.
And while it may sound a bit scripted, the heavens seemed to have given them a deal that, if they handled it well, they might just be ready to handle the dangers coming in this reincarnation cycle.
Even if the universe were to fall, their families will be guaranteed a chance to live in the Primordial Chaos.
Unfortunately for them, they picked the wrong target to mess with.
Drakhar, who happened to be the strongest of them, went so far as to punch the bars to see if he could break them; however, his strength proved useless against something designed specifically to trap primordials.
"There is no need for that, Drakhar. Your strength is useless here... hahahahaha." From the blood gate that had opened, Asura appeared seated on his Blood Throne.
He sat with his legs crossed and his chin supported by his right hand, the blood sword and blood skull hovering behind him.
"Paragon..." Tarin, the patriarch of the Tarin Ancient Family, gritted his teeth, his long ear twitching. Whenever an Elf’s ear twitches, it means they are very pissed or extremely excited.
In Tarin’s case, he was pissed.
"Hey, Long Ear, can’t say I am happy to see the face of the most useless Elf in all of existence, but hey, how are you doing, bastard?" Asura grinned. "The last time we met, you were stabbed in the gut by a Void Beast."
Tarin’s gaze grew cold. "Paragon, what is the meaning of this? Do you dare go against the Six Ancient Families? Aren’t you afraid of our wrath?"
"Oh, please, spare me your boneless threats. I think we both know that when it comes to me, threats don’t work. But to make you happy, why don’t I humor you?" Asura stopped beside the Burning Angel and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Right now, all six of you can rest assured that you will be locked behind those bars for one hour. During that time, your people have only one choice. They should stand down, or else they risk annihilation."
"We cannot do that," Tikkun said, his gaze narrowed.
Asura frowned, then he smirked. "Hey, Tikkun, I didn’t notice your traitorous face there."
Asura laughed and said:
"Mark and Matthew said hi. I am sure if they learn their old man has decided to bend over and let the heavens fuck him, they will be very disappointed."
Tikkun frowned. "Cut the nonsense, Paragon. I think we both know they are dead, and it is your fault. I am here today to avenge them, so don’t think you can play mind games with me."
"Is that so?" Paragon shook his head and snapped his finger. Two people appeared beside him, their gazes calm. However, the moment their gazes landed on Tikkun, their expressions changed.
"Father," Matthew said, his gaze holding both joy and shock.
"M-Matthew," Tikkun called out, his gaze now holding true shock.
Matthew smiled and nodded. "Oh, hey, old man. Can’t say I am happy to see you, but why not? How are you and the family?"
Before Tikkun could answer, some of the warriors standing behind the flag of the Tikkun Ancient Family shouted, "Hey, look, it is the young masters, Lord Matthew and Lord Mark."
Every last warrior who had heard of these two grew excited.
They had heard rumours of these two from the veterans who fought in the first wave of the Void War. It was said that the heir of the Tikkun and the bastard son were the only two who remained after the Tikkun Ancient Family retreated to the miniature universe.
Back then, many blamed themselves for abandoning the universe. So, to make themselves feel good, they spread the names of the only two they considered the bravest warriors of their family.
An old man with the cultivation of a Pseudo-Primordial excitedly shouted, "Lord Matthew, have you returned to the family to command?"
Matthew turned and smiled at the old man. "Not really, John. I am here today to make sure you don’t throw your life away."
John frowned, then he turned and looked at Asura... He wanted to ask whether he was being held against his will. However, just then, Asura spoke...
"Matthew and Mark reincarnated just recently and have decided to continue what they had always done: defend the universe from all kinds of threats. I summoned them from the Ancient Battlefield, where they had recently taken down some deadly Foreign Race warriors."
"Do you think you can use them to threaten me?" Tikkun asked, his brow knitted, his eyes filled with anger.
"Not at all, Tikkun. I brought them today to send a simple message. The only reason I may not touch your family is these two. They are friends, and so I would hate to kill any of their friends and comrades.
But that will depend on what decision you make today, because whether you like it or not, the Asura race will return, and there is nothing you or the heavens can do to prevent that."
Asura turned and looked at the other five Ancient Family heads. "As for you five, while I would love to extend the same courtesy to you, I don’t really think that would be wise.
After all, you abandoned the universe, and when we managed to save it, you returned to rule. If you ask me, you are not friends but enemies, and I hate to keep my enemies alive."
"Hahahaha... well said, brat, well said." Just then, a silver void gate opened, and Old Man Zorvian, patriarch of the Zorvian Ancient Family, stepped out...
