The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse
Chapter 1797: Return of the Asura Race (24)
A while back, when Klaus spoke with Lady Destiny, she told him that although the universe’s core had died, not all the laws were corrupted.
Her showing him the three futures was a sign that not all the universal laws had indeed been corrupted. So, before this battle, he knew with certainty that the laws that remained uncorrupted would fight back.
And they did.
They held back the Primordials of the Chaos Race and even many Celestials and Pseudo-Primordials.
Klaus wasn’t naive.
He knew, deep down, that the Chaos Race had more Primordials simply because they weren’t from this universe.
While corrupted, the laws of this universe understood the danger of Primordials popping up more frequently, so restrictions had been put in place long ago to limit their numbers and activities.
However, places like the Void Realm, Chaos Realm, and even the Forbidden Realm had no such restrictions, so they could easily become Primordials.
This was why his biggest worry was that dozens of Primordials would show up. However, when only seven had shown up, he deduced that something was preventing the others from coming.
And he was right about that, too.
However, now, watching an eighth Primordial force his way through the crack, Klaus frowned.
It wasn’t because the Primordial coming was too big a deal. If his mother was facing one Primordial by herself, then his father and uncles could also hold this one back.
He frowned because the aura coming from this Primordial wasn’t that of Chaos energy. This Primordial had the aura of the Foreign Race, meaning Axarax could summon them, and he just did.
The hands that appeared pulled the crack apart.
With the crack opened much wider now, the eighth Primordial walked out holding a large scythe. His body was covered in high-tech armor, and a large set of metallic, angel-like wings fluttered behind him.
Following him were thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of chaos beasts.
"Paragon, I know killing you will be hard, but killing your people will be very easy. Today, I will make sure that even if you don’t die by my hand, you will despair. And what is even better, after your people are dead, this portal will keep spewing chaos beasts until every last one of them has crossed over.
Then we will march on your precious universe and bring it to its knees. But that isn’t all. Since this Lord is now here, it wouldn’t be long until he establishes his domain, and he, too, can open the gateway to his people, bringing the Foreign Race here as well.
I myself am close to bringing back the Void Beasts."
Axarax laughed out loud, his voice heard by all on the battlefield and even those watching from afar.
Klaus didn’t respond to him; instead, he looked at the five patriarchs he had the undead, puppet and insect Pseudo-Primordials hold back and, with eyes filled with anger, said:
"So this is the kind of savages you align yourselves with. You joined people who are willing to destroy this universe, kill innocent children and destroy all properties simply because they could and for what?
To kill one person and wipe out his deadliest legion, the same legion this universe will count on in the upcoming conflicts."
With anger in his eyes and a voice filled with pain, Klaus laughed. All five patriarchs now held looks of realization, guilt, and pain.
Drakhar isn’t nearby, so he couldn’t hear Klaus’s words.
But the five patriarchs had finally snapped back to reality and realised they had been deceived, but it was already too late.
They couldn’t bring more of their forces since they had already agreed to aid Axarax. The universe was also preventing them from calling for reinforcements.
Tikkun looked at his two sons, now locked in deadly battles with Primordials, and his face fell.
"Paragon—"
"Save it, Tikkun. I had really hoped you six wouldn’t repeat what happened during the Void War. However, you have once again proven to me that you cannot be trusted.
Perhaps that had always been the kind of people you were and would always be. I was just too blind to see that earlier and prevent you from taking advantage of this universe ever again."
Klaus saw Vida get punched in the face by Drakhar, sending her flying into the ground. Her body slammed into the ground, and blood gushed from her mouth.
"Maybe you will succeed in killing me today, but before that happens, I can at least try my very best and you better hope I don’t succeed because trust me, you will regret ever meeting me."
Their expressions turned grim, but Klaus had no time to say much since his body was suddenly enveloped by a dark aura, and soon he was face-to-face with the Primordial.
People watching jumped to their feet, their fists clenched.
Everyone could finally see who was on their side and who was the enemy.
In that sense, billions started raining insults on the ancient families, making sure their frustrations were heard by all.
Aside from them, people who had hated the Paragon until now wore frowns, their rigid hearts finally opening to the realization that they had been lied to.
Meanwhile, Klaus looked at his opponent and knew he couldn’t last more than five minutes.
But he also couldn’t run, not when his wives were now in danger and his legion was getting wiped out.
"So this is the end, huh?"
He tried, he really did, but he never expected the danger he had been preparing for to come from his own people.
Perhaps this was what Efad had referred to as a danger coming before he stepped into the Star Gateway and entered the ascension trial.
Klaus smiled...
"It is indeed good to smile before you die. That will keep your soul at least a bit happy in the underworld," said the Primordial.
’Girls, I am sorry for failing you.’
With that, Klaus ignited his life force, his immortal rings, and every other power-boosting ability he had. His body surged with energy, but his wives could all feel from the outside that he wouldn’t last long.
"KLAUS!"
He didn’t hear their cries; he had already moved, and his scythe had already met the Primordial’s. His body was pushed back, but he moved forward again, unleashing hundreds of attacks in mere seconds.
"Hahahahah! Die, you miserable scums! Die and become—"
Axarax lost one more body, and the arrow came from none other than Hanna, whose body was now enveloped by a mist of Star Qi.
Somewhere else on the battlefield, Nyrela also had the same energy around her.
"IT IS NOT OVER YET!"
The two Paragon Star Lights declared, their hands forming hand seals.
Far away from them, Tasha also formed the same seal, and somewhere on the battlefield, four portals opened.
