Chapter 258: Chapter 258 My Ezekiel

_Ezekiel’s POV_

I threw myself into the driver seat of my car, my hands trying to stable as I shoved the key into the ignition. The engine roared to life, and I slammed my foot on the gas pedal again, rushing out of the hospital parking lot. My car tires squealed against the ground as I hit the main road heading toward the Ebon Moon packhouse.

My heart was beating wildly against my ribs like a trapped bird. Cold sweat dripped down my forehead.

Rowena was in that hospital room, trapped, poisoned, and dying. She was carrying Alaric’s child, and she had no idea that the man she trusted was slowly killing her.

I closed my eyes for a split second, reaching out with all my strength through our mental link.

“Pierre!” I called out in my mind, my voice trembling a bit. “Pierre, please answer me! Pierre!”

Nothing. Just painful static in my head.

"Dammit!" I screamed out loud, slamming my palm against the steering wheel. The highway was dark and from nowhere, rain started to fall against my windshield. The hospital district was miles behind me, but I knew Kyle’s people could be anywhere.

I pushed my mindlink again, shoving every drop of my energy into the connection. “Pierre! Please, Pierre, I need you! Fucking Pierre!”

No response, and I lost hope. But before the hope was completely gone, a gasp echoed in my head.

“Ezekiel?!” Pierre’s voice finally broke through, loud and full of instant worry. “Ezekiel, where are you? Where did you go?! I’ve been trying to—“

“Pierre, listen to me right now!” I croaked out. “There is no time! It’s Kyle! Kyle is the spy, Pierre! He’s the one behind everything!”

“What?!” Pierre shouted through the link. “Ezekiel, slow down, what are you talking about—“

“Rowena is in danger!” I shouted, my voice cracking completely through the mental connection. “He poisoned her, Pierre! She’s lying in that hospital room right now, and she thinks he’s helping her. She... she’s pregnant, Pierre. Rowena is pregnant with Alaric’s baby, and Kyle is trying to kill them both! You have to save her! You have to tell Alaric—“

“Ezekiel!” Pierre yelled, pure terror bleeding into his tone. “Where are you right now?! Stop driving!”

“I’m coming back to the packhouse! Tell Alaric that Kyle—“

A pair of massive, blinding white headlights suddenly flashed through my driver side window.

A deafening roar of an engine split the dark night. I turned my head, my eyes widening in absolute horror as a big black truck blasted straight through the red light at the intersection.

BOOM!

The car smashed into my car with terrifying, crushing force. The glass shattered into a million pieces, flying straight into my face and arms. My entire world spun upside down as the car was lifted off the ground, somersaulting violently across the road.

“Pierre...” my mind whispered weakly into the dark.

Then, absolute silence.

_Pierre’s POV_

I stood frozen in the middle of the room, my hand pressed hard against the side of my head.

The mental link didn’t just end, It didn’t fade out smoothly, It snapped with a loud crack inside my mind, followed by the horrible sound of crushing things through my skull before complete silence took over.

"Ezekiel?" I whispered out loud into the room.

No answer. The link was gone. Totally empty.

"Ezekiel!" I screamed, dropping my hand and tearing my phone out of my pocket. My fingers were shaking so violently I almost dropped the screen on the floor. I dialed his number and slapped the phone against my ear.

Ring... ring... ring...

"Pick up," I begged, my breath coming out in fast gasps. "Please, Ezekiel, pick up the phone. Answer me!"

We’re sorry, the caller you are trying to reach is unavailable or out of coverage—

I pulled the phone away and stared at the dark screen, my chest heaving up and down. My pulse was hammering in my ears so loudly I could barely think. He had just told me Rowena was poisoned. He had just told me she was pregnant. And then... that noise. That terrible violent noise.

"Pierre?"

Kasper walked into the room, holding his tablet. He looked at my pale, trembling face and stopped in his tracks, his eyebrows pulling down in confusion. He had come earlier to see Ezekiel but I informed him Ezekiel went to meet his father.

"Pierre, what’s wrong with you? You look like you’ve seen a ghost."

"Something happened to Ezekiel," I rasped out, my voice barely a whisper. "He... he called me through the mindlink. He said Kyle is the spy. He said Kyle poisoned Rowena, and that she’s pregnant with Alaric’s baby."

Kasper’s jaw dropped. "What? That’s impossible, we checked Kyle’s....”

"He was coming back here to tell us!" I yelled, stepping forward and grabbing Kasper’s coat collar, my eyes wild with panic. "And then I heard a crash! I heard metal breaking, Kasper! His mindlink went dead! We have to go right now! We have to find him!"

"Okay! Okay, calm down, let’s track his car’s GPS....”

Before Kasper could tap his tablet, his phone began to ring loudly on the desk. The caller ID showed Gideon. Alaric’s Beta.

Kasper hit the speakerphone button instantly. "Gideon, what is it? We’re in the middle of an emergency—"

"Kasper, listen to me," Gideon’s tense voice came through the speaker. "I just got an urgent call from the Ebon Moon pack hospital main ER desk."

My heart stopped completely, my hands fell away from Kasper’s coat, my entire body going numb.

"Why?" Kasper asked, his voice tight. "What happened?"

"It’s Prince Ezekiel," Gideon said, sorrow dripping from his tone. "A truck T-boned his car near the highway intersection minutes ago. His car flipped three times, the paramedics just brought him into the emergency room. He’s... he’s in critical condition, Kasper. They don’t know if he’s going to make it through the night. Prince Ezekiel might die.”

The room went completely black around me.

The phone kept making noises, Gideon’s voice ringing out but it sounded somewhere far away and I couldn’t hear a single word anymore.

My knees gave out beneath me, and I stumbled back against the desk, holding the edge to keep from collapsing onto the floor.

My whole world turned upside down in a single second. The room felt freezing cold, my chest burned with a pain so deep and violent I couldn’t breathe.

Ezekiel? My Ezekiel?
