The Luna You Betrayed Is No Longer Yours
Chapter 265 Kyra Awakens
Chapter 265: Chapter 265 Kyra Awakens
_Rowena’s POV_
Kyle’s syringe came fast, I didn’t have time to move, didn’t have time to do anything but throw my other hand up in front of me, like that would stop him from infecting me.
He paused, frowned and grabbed the blade instead. “I’ll cut your hand off and then you’ll stay fucking still.” He threatened, raised the blade and almost stabbed me, I used my hand to shield me. The blade caught my forearm instead of wherever he wanted it to go, and pain tore through me, so hot. I bit back a scream, refusing to let him see me break.
"Hold still," Kyle groaned, almost gentle, like he was talking to an animal he was about to put down. "This would be easier if you held still."
He grabbed my shoulder and pinned me against the wall. I could feel the cold against my back. He raised the syringe again, and this time his eyes went straight to my stomach.
“I’ll inject you in your stomach.” He grinned like a mentally deranged person before pulled my top up to reveal my stomach that had already changed to a bad black ring.
"No," I said. "No, please, not my stomach, please! Stop, don’t do this to him.....”
I frowned because the last part was unexpected
The word "him" came out before I even knew I believed it. Somewhere inside me I already knew this baby was a boy. I didn’t know how I knew. I just did.
Kyle’s face twisted, somewhere between cruelty and satisfaction, like hurting the baby mattered more to him now than hurting me. He shifted his grip, moving the syringe lower, toward my stomach instead of my arm.
And that was when something inside me broke.
It wasn’t pain this time, it was different, It felt like a door I didn’t know existed had been kicked open somewhere deep in my chest, and something came rushing through it, fast, furious, and alive.
“Rowena!”
The voice hit me like a wav, the female voice. Familiar in a way I couldn’t explain, like hearing your own name spoken by someone who had said it a thousand times before, even though I had not heard this voice in months. Not since.... Not since they tore her out of me.
"Kyra," I whispered, before I even understood what I was saying.
Kyle paused, his syringe still raised. "What did you say?"
I didn’t answer him, I couldn’t. Everything in me was turned inward, toward that voice, toward the presence uncovering somewhere behind my ribs like something waking up after a long sleep.
“Yes, Ro. I’m here,” Kyra said. “I’m back.”
Tears burned my eyes, now running down my face, and it had nothing to do with the poison or the syringe Kyle held against me. It was grief and relief tangled together so tight I couldn’t tell them apart.
"I thought you died, goddess.," I said out loud, not caring anymore that Kyle was standing right there listening. "Virella and the rest killed you after making me endure that pain back then. So how are you back?"
“You felt me get torn away,” Kyra said with a chuckle. “Not killed. There’s a difference, even if it didn’t feel like one at the time. What she did to me was cruel enough that I couldn’t reach you. I was trapped somewhere I couldn’t claw my way out of. Not until now of course. Actually, your baby’s alpha aura was what forced me out. You’re carrying a royal blood. The next Alpha King this entire world would love and cherish.”
Kyle grabbed my chin before I could respond, forcing my face back toward his. "Whoever you’re talking to, they’re not going to save you," he said. "Nothing is going to save you."
“Rowena, my darling.” Kyra’s voice cut through his words like they were nothing. “The baby. I feel him so strongly and he is ours to protect now.”
"Save him," I said calmly, although my voice broke. "Kyra, please, I don’t care what happens to me, just save the child."
“Then let me take over,” Kyra said. “Let me out.”
I didn’t know how to explain what happened next, even after it was over. It wasn’t a shift, not like the ones I remembered from before that incident that took Kyra. There was no bone, no fur, no change in my body at all. It was something else. Something that came from further inside than muscle and bone could reach.
Kyra’s aura came pouring out of me like water breaking through a dam that had held for far too long.
Kyle staggered back like he’d been hit, the syringe and blade dropped from his hand and clattered against the floor. The mirrors around us cracked, one after another, a chain of small sounds like ice breaking, until the whole room was filled with glass.
"What—" Kyle’s voice came out strangled. "What is that. What are you?”
“I am Kyra,” Kyra said as my eye color changed. The voice wasn’t in my head anymore too. Kyle could hear it too. “you should have left when you had the chance.”
The pain that came with it was staggering, whole body felt like it was being pulled apart and rebuilt at the same time, too fast that it was too much for a body already weakened by poison and blood loss. I held back a scream again, but this time it was harder than before.
It was Kyra pouring back into every corner of me she had been locked out of for so long, and my body wasn’t ready for how much that hurt.
Kyle backed toward the door, one hand out in front of him like he could push the aura away with his palm. "This isn’t possible," he said. "Your wolf was killed. I saw the reports. Everyone saw the reports."
“Well, they lied,” Kyra shrugged. “I was just asleep.”
The aura kept building, filling the small room until the air itself felt depressing for Kyle and me. I could feel Kyra reaching for the poison in my blood, trying to burn through it, trying to buy us both time.
Kyle’s eyes were wide now, real fear finally showing through the calm mask he’d been wearing since I met him.
"You’re not walking out of here either," I said, meaning every word.
After hurting Ezekiel, lying about Brielle’s pregnancy, and trying to kill me. There was no way I would let him off easily.
