Amie blinked at the building in front of her, confirming the address Dante had sent her for the fifth time.

This place was the direct opposite of where Arnold had met her. The security was top-notch, and she had noticed the types of cars parked in the garage.

It seemed like the sort of place you couldn’t get into without a reservation, and certainly not without more than six figures in your account.

"Good day, ma’am. Do you have a reservation?" the security guard at the door asked immediately after she stepped in.

Apart from the security guard, there was nothing behind him except an elevator door. Amie wondered if the main restaurant was on another floor or if this was some sort of private place.

Amie’s brows creased.

Dante hadn’t told her about a reservation.

Moreover, how was she supposed to make a reservation within such a short period of time?

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Dante.

The security guard, who had been watching her, blocked her path when she tried to move forward.

"I’m sorry, ma’am, but without a reservation, you can’t come in."

Amie stared at him from head to toe.

"Fine. I’d like to make one now."

She dragged the zipper of her bag open aggressively and brought out the black card Chris had given her.

She had no idea if she had maxed it out or not. As long as there was enough money on it to keep the man in front of her quiet, she didn’t care.

But the security guard’s gaze lazily moved over the card without making any effort to collect it from her.

"Ma’am, you need to make a reservation at least one month in advance."

"One month?" Amie shouted.

She hadn’t meant to, but it had come as a surprise.

What sort of place was this?

She was certain Dante couldn’t have made a reservation ahead either.

He hadn’t even known they were going to meet until she called him.

Just as she was about to give the security guard a piece of her mind, the elevator doors opened behind him.

A familiar face stepped out.

Dante was dressed in a black button-down shirt with the sleeves neatly folded to his forearms and dark tailored trousers. A silver watch sat around his wrist, the only accessory on him. There was nothing flashy about his clothes, yet somehow, he looked expensive.

Amie looked down at herself and adjusted her clothes before turning to glare at the security guard.

"That’s my date."

The security guard looked behind him with a smug expression that was instantly wiped off his face when he saw Dante.

Fear took over his features.

Amie glanced at him before turning back to Dante.

Who was this man?

"Sir!" the security guard started.

Dante lifted one hand.

The man immediately fell silent.

Dante didn’t even have to tell him to leave. The security guard stepped aside instantly.

Amie stared after him.

Where had all that confidence gone?

"You look beautiful," Dante said.

A slight blush appeared on Amie’s cheeks, and she suddenly felt hot.

Now, this was exactly what she needed after what her father had done.

"Come on. You don’t have to keep waiting."

Dante led the way while Amie followed behind him.

At one point, she wanted to link her arm with his. It would be nice to walk into wherever he was taking her with his arm linked with hers, but she couldn’t tell if that was a wise thing to do.

Instead, she ignored the urge and followed him towards the elevator.

Dante pressed the button for the last floor.

Neither of them said a word as the elevator moved. When it finally chimed, the doors opened.

"After you, my lady," Dante said, stepping aside for her.

Amie’s lips lifted slightly.

She walked out ahead of him.

She had guessed right.

It was a restaurant, but it looked like each guest had a private booth. One would have to walk close or stare directly inside before seeing the people seated there.

Dante led her to one of the booths.

This time, he pulled out a chair for her.

Amie glanced at him before sitting down.

"Thank you."

Dante took the seat opposite her and picked up his glass of wine.

Just that morning, his grandfather had urged him to make haste concerning her.

And now, Amie had called him herself.

That made things easier.

Whatever his personal feelings were didn’t matter. His family’s goal and his grandfather’s wishes came first.

"You look just as beautiful as the day I met you," Dante said.

Amie’s smile widened.

"Do I?"

"I wouldn’t have said it if you didn’t."

Before Amie could respond, a waitress came in and handed them the menus.

Although Amie had been to a lot of high-class restaurants, she found it difficult to identify most of the food on the menu.

But the last thing she was going to do was embarrass herself in Dante’s presence.

She was Amie Vassari.

The daughter of one of the biggest Mafia families in the state.

Surely, she wouldn’t make a mistake with an order.

Amie pointed at one of the dishes on the menu that she felt must be very expensive.

"I’ll have this."

Dante glanced at what she had chosen before raising a brow.

"Are you sure you want to order that?"

Amie nodded confidently.

"Of course. I love it."

Dante looked at her for another second.

"Fine."

He made his own order.

Once the waitress was gone, Dante lifted his gaze back to Amie.

For the briefest moment, another face intruded on his thoughts.

June.

Dante tightened his fingers slightly around his wine glass.

He was sitting across from the woman he had come here for.

His attention belonged here.

Amie leaned slightly forward.

"Does your promise still stand?"

Without looking away from her, Dante nodded.

He needed to win her trust, and he needed to do it as quickly as possible.

She was the key to everything.

"What do you want?" he asked, slowly twirling the wine in his glass.

Amie swallowed.

Her gaze moved over Dante before stopping at his lips.

Right now, all she wanted was to feel the way she used to when Rauf came around her father’s house.

Wanted.

Beautiful.

Desired.

She wanted a man who would make her feel like a woman again.

Dante was handsome, clearly wealthy, and interested in her.

And if Amie was being honest, she had been starved of sex.

Why should she keep denying herself?

Without wasting any more time, she made her request.

"I want you to fuck me."
