Chapter 188: A Date with his Alphas

This time, Nox lifted his head and looked straight into Moon’s eyes.

He lowered his voice and slowly activated a sound-blocking array around them.

"Mooney, do you think we can really register? I—I don’t even have a wolf spirit."

Moon subtly noticed that Nox had said I, not we.

That suddenly made him realize that Nox was the only one here who still hadn’t felt his wolf spirit.

Moon had been a chore boy who had spent almost half his life alone in a little servant’s room.

He hadn’t had much experience living with or dealing with many boys his own age.

Suddenly getting entangled with the five of them was something he could never have imagined, and he couldn’t see himself treating all of them the same way.

Moon suddenly fell silent.

He put down his meat and picked up his cup of tea. After a while, he spoke slowly.

"Nox, you have a wolf spirit too. And don’t worry. We’ll try the soul contract tonight. Trust me, you have one. As for the trial..."

He thought for a while, arranging his words carefully.

"None of you needs to feel pressured. It’s not as if we have no way to survive outside. Look, don’t we still have Levi? Maybe we can stay with his merchant group. Let’s just try it first. After all, failure is a pillar of life. We can gain experience from it."

Ugo also finished his meat, wiped his hands, and picked up his cup.

"Hmm... Have you thought about how you’ll enter with us if we really manage to get in?"

This was something he had been thinking about for a while.

Moon wasn’t a wolf, and he wouldn’t be going to a witch academy either.

And now, they certainly wouldn’t let Moon leave them behind.

"I’ve decided. Every wolf can take a servant with them, so if you five manage to get in, there won’t be any problem."

Axe inhaled sharply.

They already knew this, but they hadn’t thought much of it before. Now, however, the idea made them uncomfortable.

"You’re not a servant..."

Moon waved his hand.

"Shut it. I know I’m not. And you know that all I want is to enter the wolf academy. There’s no other option. Don’t worry. I can quickly earn points by making contributions and get a student spot."

This was why he had thought of entering as a servant and didn’t mind doing so.

Here, he had no footing.

He had been a servant even in his own clan, so what did it matter if he took on that role here in exchange for something?

Besides, the academies also had provisions for servants.

Most servants were low-level wolves who could make contributions. If they gathered enough points, the academy would raise their rank.

Moon could concoct pills, so he wasn’t worried about failing to earn enough points.

All he needed was a chance to enter.

"Why are you doing so much for us?" Axe laughed, but his laugh felt more helpless.

Moon was startled.

He had not thought of this question.

"I am not doing this for you. Now that we are both riding in the same boat. Helping you means helping me," Moon said after a while.

Axe deflated.

This is not what he wanted to hear.

He thought maybe, maybe Moon had a little bit of attraction for their mate bond?

Or else what else can it be?

He needed their essence, but that didn’t make it clear as to why Moon had to go through so much trouble.

They certainly couldn’t imagine that Moon’s life was entirely dependent on a stack of awakening their bloodline.

And Moon wouldn’t reveal it either.

They didn’t argue about the matter of entering as a servant.

Since Moon had made up his mind, all they could do was trust him and follow his lead for now. Entering as a servant didn’t necessarily mean he would remain one.

Many people brought their siblings or relatives under the pretext of being servants.

"What are we doing now?" Axe asked.

"Registration is in the evening," Moon said. "We still have time."

"Let’s go to the market and shop," Nox said.

Ugo nodded. "It wouldn’t hurt to look around."

After they finished paying, they left the inn and stepped out into the street.

The market stretched farther than Moon had expected.

Wooden stalls lined both sides of the wide road, their cloth roofs already open to the morning light. Merchants called out their prices, holding up dried meat, leather pouches, travel cloaks, and small trinkets.

Further down, a group of young wolves argued over the price of a short blade while an old woman carefully wrapped bundles of herbs for a customer.

Moon passed a sweet shop and bought some sweets to taste.

He hadn’t had a chance to roam leisurely like this for a long time.

With his pouch full of siki, he let go of his anxiety for a while.

After a while, Nox went to find the person in charge of the market, while Axe headed in another direction.

Only Ugo remained beside Moon as they continued walking and looking at all sorts of strange things in the stalls.

Well, they were strange to Moon, but not to Ugo.

There were fangs and bones, as well as shiny clasps designed to lock around a rabid wolf’s claws and make them less dangerous.

Moon even bought a whole bunch of them.

Without even asking, Ugo already knew what he was thinking. He could practically feel the pain in his fingertips.

Moon bought a small pouch of dried fruit and some trinkets.

They wandered for nearly an hour before Nox and Axe returned, carrying a bunch of materials.

Moon looked at their hands, which were full of stands, foldable tables, thick leather, and cloth. He had no idea what they were planning.

"Let’s open a stall, Mooney," Nox said excitedly.

"Hmm. We have some goods," Axe added.

"You have goods to sell?" Moon raised his brows.

Axe scratched his ear.

"I told you I made a machete... Well, I made a few other things too. Let’s try our luck."
