The Mage's 5 Fated Alphas (BL)
Chapter 190: Show off
The girl hesitated.
She had indeed never heard of such a thing, and she wasn’t sure how soul power could be used to activate it.
"How do you know it’s a fraud? Don’t spread rumors just because you’re uneducated!" Nox raised his voice.
Moon’s gaze fell on Lyra, who was standing beside Liam.
That girl certainly knew how to manage people. Just a few days ago, she had been clinging to Evan Vasper, and now she had met up with Liam again.
The girl holding the bracelet hesitated before looking at Nox.
"I want to buy it... but I’m not sure if it will work."
Liam sneered.
Lyra, meanwhile, looked pained. "Nox, stop being so naive and just come back."
Nox was so angry that he almost crushed the bracelet he had just taken back from the girl.
Seeing the tension between them, the girl spoke again. "Can you test it for me?"
Nox frowned.
"There are only three charges in it. If I use one, its value will drop to one-third. I can test it if you pay one-third of the price in advance."
Before the girl could say anything, Liam retorted, "What kind of nonsense is this? You can’t prove anything, so you just make excuses!"
He turned back to the girl.
"Miss, don’t give him any money. He won’t return it even if he fails to prove anything. What’s more, he’s a defective! How could a defective have something like this? He’s an exiled member of our pack who stole a treasure and ran away!"
"Don’t talk nonsense!" Nox roared.
"What if he can prove it?" Moon asked from behind the table.
They had been arguing so loudly that Liam hadn’t even noticed the others sitting at the stall.
"If he can prove it, I’ll break my own hand!" Liam grumbled.
Moon frowned.
"That’s a losing bet. I don’t need your hand. Make it something useful... like paying ten times the price."
"Ten times? How could my hand be compared with money?" Liam roared.
Moon clicked his tongue.
"Tch! Why would I need your hand? I already have five pairs of hands to serve me."
Hearing this, Nox suddenly glared at Liam.
"Don’t even think about laying a hand on my mate!"
"..."
Liam fell speechless for a moment before snapping back, "What the hell? When did I say I wanted him? Fine! Ten times. I’ll pay ten times!"
Moon finally smiled at those words.
Ten times was a very pleasant phrase to him.
He didn’t doubt Nox.
Nox couldn’t produce genuine alpha pressure himself, but with the knowledge he had gained from the Lupines, he could certainly create a formation that released a similar pressure.
By engraving it with residual alpha presence or soul power, he could make the effect convincing.
And since they had bloodstones, they could certainly use a little of their power.
Lyra suddenly remembered the incident at the tavern.
A sense of déjà vu washed over her.
It felt as though she had been caught in a similar argument before, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
She still remembered how badly things had gone for Evan Vesper back then, so she cautiously asked, "How much is the bracelet, anyway?"
"Ten thousand siki," Nox replied grumpily.
He had originally planned to sell them for five thousand siki, but now he wanted to double the price.
The girl was startled, and so was Liam.
"Ten thousand? Are you kidding me? A bracelet for ten thousand siki?" Liam’s anger flared again.
"You said yourself that alpha pressure isn’t something you can get just anywhere. What? Is your alpha’s strength worth less than ten thousand siki?" Axe’s voice rang out from behind the table.
"YOU—! Don’t forget, he’s your father! Don’t talk nonsense!"
Axe’s face immediately darkened.
"I don’t have a father." He paused, then added coldly, "He died."
The girl finally began to understand what was going on.
She had heard bits and pieces of the rumors about the five defective heirs and a Black Witch, but she had never expected to run into them herself.
What’s more, this group looked like ordinary merchant brothers.
They were nothing like the people described in the rumors as ’a seductive Black Witch and five lecherous, defective traitors.’
The rumors spread by the prominent families of the West Blackwood Pack had made her curious about them.
Now she was even more interested.
She looked at the bracelet in her hand and made up her mind.
"Test it for me. I’ll buy it at full price."
Nox nodded and looked at Moon.
Moon gave him an approving signal before speaking again.
"Her purchase is one matter, but don’t forget your bet. If he succeeds, you’ll owe us 100,000 siki. Don’t go back on your word, or you’ll be eating your own words."
Liam suddenly felt uneasy.
Why weren’t they afraid?
Could they really have something like this?
His gaze swept across the table.
The weapons looked well made, though they weren’t particularly ornate.
The jars clearly contained beast cores that could be hunted around the gorge.
They were expensive but not rare. Considering that the group had been fugitives and had needed to survive in the gorge, it was reasonable for them to have gathered eight or ten.
However, the weapons and formation plates looked suspicious.
Nox smiled at the girl. "You can see for yourself."
He put the bracelet on the girl’s wrist himself properly.
Then he looked at Liam.
"Since you are so sure it’s a fraud, why don’t you help us test it?"
Liam sneered. "What can a defective like you do?"
Nox smiled.
Then leaned in to the girl’s ear a little bit, whispering. "Miss, activate it. When activating, think of directing it to Liam."
"How do I activate it?" the girl whispered back.
"If you don’t know how to guide soul power, try calling your spirit. And activate." Nox gave her the simplest way.
Many young wolves can’t properly use their soul power. So it’s better to use their spirit.
The girl touched the bracelet, closed her eyes, and tried to contact her spirit.
At first, nothing happened, and the group of people became impatient.
Then suddenly, the silver lines lit up one after another.
A terrifying pressure spread from the girls wearing the bracelet.
It happened so quickly that nobody had time to react.
Liam’s face went pale.
His knees struck the ground with a loud thud, and his hands instinctively pressed against the stone road.
Lyra beside him gasped and stumbled down as well.
Several young wolves standing nearby felt their legs give way, while those with weaker wolf spirits dropped to their knees outright.
Even the surrounding crowd fell silent.
For five whole seconds, the pressure swept through the market corner like an invisible mountain descending from the sky.
Then it disappeared.
Liam remained on his knees, breathing heavily. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his hands trembled as he tried to push himself up.
The girl stared at her bracelet in disbelief.
"Th-that was really alpha pressure!"
Nox looked down at Liam and sighed.
"Ah, you should have stayed standing. Now everyone will think you were kneeling to me."
