The Mage's 5 Fated Alphas (BL)
Chapter 208: face-alteration pill
The root trembled slightly before its outer layer began to soften. Moon carefully extracted its essence, separating the impurities from the pure portion.
Moon wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He continued with the Rainbow Flower.
The moment the petals entered the cauldron, their colors spread through the flame.
Red, blue, yellow, and several other shades flickered together, making the tiny ember flame look much brighter.
Moon’s eyes lit up.
But he didn’t relax.
The Rainbow Flower might look beautiful, but it was not easy to control.
He formed another set of hand seals and slowly extracted its essence, separating it from the impurities.
The colorful powder gradually separated from the petals. Moon guided it into a different section of the cauldron before beginning to purify it.
Once the first two ingredients were ready, he moved on to the Bone-Softening Crystal.
The crystal was small, so he didn’t need much flame to break it down.
Moon frowned as he watched it slowly soften.
He increased the flame slightly and continued refining it.
This time, the crystal finally began to dissolve. A pale, translucent liquid emerged, carrying a faint spiritual fluctuation.
Moon carefully collected it.
The last ingredient was the pure moonlight dew.
He poured the single drop into the cauldron.
The moment it touched the other ingredients, a faint fragrance spread through the air.
Moon watched the liquids carefully.
The moonlight dew didn’t need to be refined separately. Its purpose was to help the other ingredients merge, so he had to preserve its spiritual properties rather than burn them away.
He adjusted the flame and repeated the purification process ten times.
Only after he was satisfied with the purity of the ingredients did Moon stop to rest.
He took out a recovery pill and swallowed it before continuing.
Once his spiritual energy had recovered, he resumed the refinement.
He guided the Mirror Shade Root and Rainbow Flower together, then carefully mixed their essence with the moonlight dew.
Moon adjusted his hand seals.
Soft blue spiritual qi swirled around his hand before flowing steadily into the cauldron.
His movements were fast and precise, and he kept the flow of spiritual energy stable as he worked.
He increased the flame a little.
The flame trembled.
Moon’s heart tightened.
’Don’t fail again! Heaven!’
His hand seals became faster, and the flames burned higher as a pill mold gradually took shape inside the cauldron.
Moon gritted his teeth and poured more spiritual qi into it.
His ember spark flickered violently before finally stabilizing again.
Moon let out a long breath.
He formed a series of hand seals, dividing the mold into several small portions before carefully shaping each one.
Then he drew out his soul dew and coated each portion with it.
The pills slowly took shape.
Round and lustrous.
One by one, the rounded shapes began to take on color as they floated inside the cauldron.
A faint fragrance escaped from the cauldron, gradually filling the surrounding air.
As Moon completed the final hand seal, six pills shot out of the cauldron.
Two were emerald green.
Three were red.
And then, surprisingly, a golden pill emerged.
Moon’s heart trembled.
He had succeeded!
Not only had he successfully refined the face-alteration pill, but he had also produced a high-grade pill on his first successful attempt.
He had officially become a spirit-grade alchemist!
Moon put the pills into a small jade bottle, sealed it, and placed it inside his spatial necklace.
He was still feeling rather pleased with himself when his gaze fell on the remaining ingredients.
The transformation pill.
He could try it now.
Compared to the face-alteration pill, this one was much more troublesome.
It was a formula Moon had come up with and altered himself, so he couldn’t be certain that every step would go smoothly.
He shook his head and returned his attention to the ingredients.
’Don’t think about it too much. Just refine the pill first.’
He took out the mutated Golden-beaked Razor Flamingo cores.
These cores were not ordinary beast cores.
The flamingos had mutated, and their cores contained a much stronger concentration of dark energy than their normal counterparts.
Moon examined them carefully.
The energy inside was fierce and unstable.
He placed the cores aside and took out the liquid Gengjin Spirit Marrow collected from the pool.
The moment the container appeared, a faint metallic aura spread through the air.
Moon’s expression became serious.
Next came the Iridescent Golden Lotuses, or rather, the golden lotus petals he had collected from the edge of the Gengjin pool.
These petals were associated with triggering beast spirits, which was exactly what he needed.
Moon also prepared several auxiliary ingredients.
He took out a little spiritual dew and a few strands of spirit grass with gentle, stabilizing properties.
He checked the formula one last time.
And finally, he took out the Amomila Crest Flower that he had painstakingly obtained from Ugo.
That fellow had been so stingy about it!
Moon clicked his tongue as he remembered how reluctant Ugo had been to hand it over.
Then he finally called out to Xiao Hong.
"Xiao Hong! Help me get a little of Leo’s blood."
Xiao Hong scoffed from the other side.
"I don’t want to become wolf food, Moon. Ask for something else."
"I need a bit of werewolf blood. I already have ther human form blood, but..."
Moon hesitated.
How was he supposed to get wolf blood? Those fellows were so fierce!
"Let’s bring him here first," Lupine suggested.
Soon, Xiao Hong escorted Leo out of the Flame Garden.
As soon as Leo saw Moon, he tried to jump onto the platform, but Xiao Hong held him back.
Moon’s forehead was already sweating.
He looked at the overenthusiastic wolf and almost decided to call Rio instead.
He tried to communicate with Leo through their soul bond.
To his surprise, when Moon explained that he needed some blood and asked whether Leo was willing to give it to him, the wolf actually listened.
This time, Leo didn’t jump onto the platform. Instead, he sat obediently in front of it and stretched out one of his front legs.
Moon’s brows rose high with amusement.
’So these wolves really do have some human sense! It wasn’t just my imagination.’
