The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 353 - 169: "Ambush
Bofunova smiled charmingly and asked him, "Pretty, aren’t I?"
How could the servant dare to answer?
’"Pretty" means I saw, and I shouldn’t have.’
’"Not pretty" also means I saw, and it would be a lie. Not to mention tactless and unflattering.’
Either way, he was wrong.
Seeing his silence, Bofunova’s smile widened, and a purple light that seemed to pierce his very soul bloomed in her curving eyes.
"Lift your head and answer my question."
"My body... is it beautiful?"
Terror filled the servant’s eyes. His head lifted against his will, and his mouth opened to answer, "Yes, it is beautiful."
"How beautiful?" Bofunova asked again.
"I swear, I’ve never seen a more beautiful body," the servant replied.
Bofunova lifted his chin. "Then do you like it?"
The servant said, "Yes."
"Do you want to see more?"
"...Yes."
The servant struggled, desperately trying to deny it, but he still couldn’t stop himself from speaking his true thoughts.
"Before you came to serve me, did no one tell you that I don’t like liars?" Bofunova said with a smile. "If you want to look, just say so. It’s not like I won’t let you."
"I don’t like to wear clothes when I sleep, nor do I like to use a blanket. You can stay in the room tonight. I’ll let you look your fill."
As she spoke, Bofunova extended a long, slender finger and plunged it into the servant’s eyes.
At that moment, the beautiful sound of a piano suddenly drifted up from downstairs, drowning out the servant’s screams.
Steam was still rising from the hot water in the bathtub, but its color was gradually changing from white to pink.
The sound of the piano grew louder and louder.
「Half an hour later.」
Bofunova, now dressed, walked out of the room.
In a picture frame hanging on her bedroom wall, there was a new pair of eyes.
A piano was also being played in the Royal Opera House at Mozgo Castle.
After hanging up the phone, Carlos’s mood seemed to have improved. He gestured for the woman on the stage to continue playing.
His subordinate, standing beside him, voiced his indignation. "What kind of attitude was that? Mr. Carlos, you were kind enough to give her an opportunity to cooperate. Not only was she ungrateful, but she even mocked you, making it sound like you really can’t do anything about Sean. She has no class at all!"
"What did you expect?" Carlos sneered. "A woman who enjoys gouging out people’s eyes for fun. What kind of class could she have?"
The subordinate chimed in, "It’s Mr. Carlos who has grace, not stooping to her level."
Then, he put on a worried expression. "But Mr. Carlos, can she really capture Sean?"
"What if she messes things up and just ends up tipping him off?"
"Probably not."
Carlos shook his head. "That woman may have absolutely terrible class and can’t compare to my elegance, but she does have the strength."
’After all, she’s someone who has clashed with a Night Watcher.’
Although she didn’t win in the end and was even injured, the Night Watcher also paid a heavy price.
If you were to rank all the Witch Hunter Families in Farm World by strength, Bofunova and her Kovloki Family would definitely be in the top ten—ranked even higher than his Wolf Family.
If even Bofunova couldn’t handle Sean, then they could forget about it.
Therefore, this was not just a transaction between families, but also a test.
He would use the Kovloki Family to probe the true strength of Sean and his people.
This was also why, despite Krim State not being particularly far from Siracle State, he had never considered personally leading his men to take Sean out.
A couple of days ago, upon hearing the news that Sean and Pulente were possibly colluding, he had even withdrawn all the men he had sent to Siracle State. This was to avoid being discovered by Sean and prevent a direct confrontation. As a result, all current intelligence on Sean relied on the organization called Spider Web.
’This is what they call "a gentleman does not stand beneath a crumbling wall."’
Though he was quick to anger, he wasn’t a reckless brute.
Anger didn’t make him lose his reason; it only made him wonder if his enemy truly had something up their sleeve.
As for his earlier talk of giving Sean a big surprise...
’Those were just angry words.’
’No need to take them to heart.’
He really did want to blow up the plane, though. At a time like this, the Florist Family’s name was very convenient to use.
Unfortunately, Sean and his people were too sharp. Or perhaps they had learned their lesson from last time and didn’t give him the chance.
So, he would just let that conceited, classless woman Bofunova be his vanguard.
He wouldn’t make a move on Pulente for now, either.
Everything would have to wait until there were results from her side.
"Mr. Carlos, you are brilliant!" the subordinate exclaimed with sincere admiration. "If it were me, I could listen to piano music for three days and three nights and still not come up with such a clever plan."
The flattery smoothed the tension from Carlos’s brow. He said, "I’ve noticed you’ve gotten pretty good with words lately, kid. Did you learn a few tricks from someone?"
"I don’t think so." The subordinate scratched his head and chuckled. "I’m just telling it like it is."
"Very good. I like that you tell the truth." Carlos patted his shoulder. "Seeing as you’ve performed well today, if there’s anything else you don’t understand, feel free to ask."
He never skimped on putting in the effort to cultivate a subordinate who knew how to act.
’It’s not a problem if a man is stupid. As long as he’s willing to learn and is loyal, he can become a capable pillar of the Wolf Family.’
The subordinate was overwhelmed by the favor. "Mr. Carlos, can I really ask anything?"
Carlos said, "Of course."
If he could get the people under him to learn to think for themselves and become smarter, it would give him, their master, a great sense of accomplishment.
"Then, may I ask, Mr. Carlos..."
The subordinate looked at the beautiful woman playing the piano on stage. "Isn’t that Miss Dorunla?"
"Mr. Carlos, are you and she... really an item?"
Once again, the piano music came to an abrupt halt.
