The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 354 - 169: "Ambush

Dorunla: "..."

Carlos: "???"

’What the fuck!’

’I told you to ask if there was anything you didn’t understand about the matter, not to ask about my fucking private life!’

"Get out!"

Carlos channeled his Magic Power and kicked his subordinate straight out the door.

Dorunla was biologically male but identified as female. He wasn’t a biological woman. Like hell Carlos was into him!

He simply admired Dorunla’s talent and enjoyed listening to him play his instrument, that was all.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with his sexual orientation!

And no one could ever change that!

...

「Meanwhile.」

Aboard a private jet.

The cabin was filled with a cheerful atmosphere.

"You really have to hand it to Mr. Kate," Yisha said, humming contentedly from a massage chair, a look of pure bliss on her face. "After flying private twice, I don’t think I ever want to fly commercial again. It’s a completely different experience."

Elise teased, "You like it that much? Why don’t you earn enough to buy one yourself?"

"I’d better pass," Yisha said with a grin. "Putting aside the fact that I could never afford one in my lifetime, even if I did have the money, I wouldn’t use it to buy a plane. I’ll just bum a ride on Teacher’s when the time comes."

Sean: "?"

’How did I get dragged into this?’

’Isn’t this Kate’s plane?’

Yisha blinked. "I remember you saying before, Teacher, that you’d buy one too when you have the money."

"I did?" Sean asked, confused. "When was that? I don’t remember it at all."

Yisha: "It doesn’t matter. You remember now."

Sean: "..."

’Is she trying to pull a fast one with my memory?’

"Don’t you worry. Even if I really were to buy one, you wouldn’t get to bum a ride on mine," Sean said.

"Huh? Why not?" Yisha’s eyes widened as she put on a pitiful expression. "Is Teacher going to abandon me and make me fly on a public plane that could explode at any moment? Please don’t..."

Sean made it clear her pleading was useless. "It’s not up to me."

"Then who is it up to?" Yisha asked.

"Miss Flame Crow, of course." Sean snuck a glance at Elvire, who was pretending to be engrossed in a magazine beside him, and declared loudly, "If I were to buy a plane, it would definitely be a gift for Miss Flame Crow! It would symbolize us taking off and flying together!"

Elvire nearly choked.

’Seriously, how does this guy manage to drag me into everything?’

’And in front of everyone, too!’

Her cheeks flushing slightly, Elvire kicked Sean and glared at him. "Who asked you for a gift?"

"Don’t waste your money."

"Ooh?" Yisha seized the chance to stir the pot. "Is Miss Flame Crow already managing the family finances?"

Elvire: "..."

She retorted, "I’m just teaching him not to be extravagant."

Elise, however, just smiled sweetly. "I, for one, think it’s a great gift. It shows real sincerity. After all, not many people in this world are willing to spend their entire fortune to buy you a plane. If you ask me, you should just accept it. And count me in! I’ll fly with you two, and we can turn this ’taking off and flying together’ into a threesome. What do you say?"

Elvire: "???"

Sean: "..."

’She’s really got a lotta nerve.’

Alice looked at Elise, a hint of envy in her eyes.

’She wanted to ’fly’ with the Master, too...’

"Elise, watch your mouth! There’s a child present!" Elvire warned, using Koni’s age as an excuse.

Sopea, who had been reading a newspaper off to the side, looked up. "It’s fine. She’s an adult, just small for her age."

Koni: "..."

Everyone: "..."

Exasperated, Elvire could only turn her scolding on Sopea as well. "You dirty old man!"

Sopea couldn’t care less. He could tell that Sean enjoyed this kind of atmosphere, full of unrestrained banter. As long as Lord Blake was happy, what did it matter if he was being proper or not?

Amidst the group’s laughter and playful noise, the plane pierced through the clouds, speeding toward Sonaros State.

"We’re almost there!" Yisha, who rarely had the chance to get away and travel, was quite excited.

Ever since her last trip with her teacher, she had started to fall in love with this feeling of "traveling the world."

"Surprisingly, nothing’s happened," Sean remarked, finding it incredible. "Did that band of Witch Hunters have a change of heart?"

Logically, news of their departure from Alola Town couldn’t have escaped the Witch Hunters’ notice. They hadn’t really tried to hide it; their disguises were just for show. If they had been too brazen, it would have seemed like a trap.

With Alice and her sister around, Sean was actually hoping someone would voluntarily walk into their trap.

"If I were them, I would’ve fired a cannon or two at this plane by now," Sean said.

"You like getting hit, do you?" Elise said, half-amused and half-exasperated. "Well, you’re going to be disappointed. In our Farm World, there aren’t any cannons that can shoot down a plane."

Eleanor added, "The New World doesn’t have them, either."

Sean froze. "Huh?"

"I remember there were weapons like missiles during the Era of Polymath, weren’t there?"

"There used to be, but not anymore," Alice explained. "The Church Court doesn’t permit the existence of any weapon that could threaten a High-tier Wizard."

The Church Court had no need for such things, as Wizards themselves were the best weapons—especially Grand Mages, whom it would be no exaggeration to call walking nuclear bombs.

As for why they had existed in the past...

Alice winked at Sean. "Why don’t you take a guess, Master?"

’Did he even need to guess?’

Sean understood instantly.

’Son of a bitch. So the Church Court had developed missiles in the past just to deal with him.’

’The moment he "died," all that military technology vanished.’

’Even though Sean had long been prepared for the Church Court’s shamelessness, he still wanted to curse them out. ’Those bastards!’’

’They’d forced their way down a whole technological path they shouldn’t have, all just to kill him.’

"Mr. Sean."

Just as the group was chatting, Lante walked over from the cockpit, his expression grave.

"What’s wrong?" Sean asked.

"Our scheduled landing site has been canceled by the Sonaros State government," Lante said.

Sean frowned. "Reason?"

Lante: "Weather conditions have caused traffic congestion on the flight paths. We’ll have to queue up to land."

Elise: "Then let’s just land at a different airport?"

Lante: "The pilot has already tried. All the nearby airports claim they have no open landing slots."

He paused, then added, "Only Moratana International Airport, in the heart of Sonaros State, has approved our landing request."

Sean: "Oh."

’I get it.’

’Someone’s making a show of force.’

’If we want to land, we have to go to Moratana International Airport. Otherwise, we can just circle around in the sky.’

"I’m worried it’s an ambush," Lante said, having clearly reached the same conclusion.

"An ambush?"

’Ambush who?’

’Ambush his two beautiful, twin Grand Mage maids?’

Sean almost laughed. "Then we have to go."

"We’ll land at Moratana."

"Let’s show them who’s ambushing whom today."
