The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 485 220: "What Are You Trying to Do!
"I know perfectly well that running away won't solve anything. I can't help but want to see you, and Eli is bound to find out my identity sooner or later. But I couldn't help it. I really couldn't think of a way to make everyone happy, so I just kept putting it off."
"And you think putting it off would lead to a perfect solution?" Daeli said.
Sean: "No. We've been married for so long. You know me, and I know you."
"There's no perfect solution to this. I'll get a vicious beating at the very least, and that's the best-case scenario."
"But I still put it off as long as possible. Do you know why?"
Daeli looked at him, gesturing for him to continue.
She wanted to see what this guy was really trying to say.
Sean wouldn't just recount his thought process for no reason. She had already shown him through her actions that playing the sympathy card was useless, so these words couldn't be the main point. He had something else he wanted to express. In that sense, this guy was a lot like Olivia—always speaking in subtext.
Daeli waited quietly for him to continue.
She figured Sean was just beating around the bush and would ultimately resort to some kind of sophistry.
But this time, she guessed wrong.
Sean was done arguing.
In the face of absolute Power, sophistry was meaningless.
If Daeli was dead set on beating him, killing him, cutting him in half, or burning him to cinders, he couldn't resist in the slightest. So, what he wanted to say was—
"Why did I keep putting it off?"
"This is something I want to remind you of, too."
"Because the tables will turn!"
Daeli: "?"
Sean shouted, "Don't think you're so amazing just because you're Tier Ten! You think you can just bully your own husband?"
"I'm telling you, Daeli, I will never break up with Eli."
"I'm laying my cards on the table tonight. You two sisters... I want you both!"
"And that's final!"
"So what if you kill me?"
"This is just my Soul Reflection. Even if you burn it to ashes, when I get back to the Farm World, I can still live happily ever after with Eli."
"But you... my dear wife, Miss Daeli... you'll be in for it."
"When I get my strength back, whatever you do to me tonight, I'll do right back to you!"
"Then I'll make sure you know who wears the pants in this family! Hmph!"
Daeli: "???"
'Did I hear him wrong?'
'This bastard... He's clearly the one who screwed up, trying to get with his own sister-in-law. It would be one thing if he didn't beg for my forgiveness or ask for a chance, but to threaten me instead?'
"Sean, don't push me," Daeli said, biting her lip.
Sean blinked. "What's the matter? Scared?"
As he spoke, he materialized an iron chain with four shackles attached.
"Remember this?"
Though he was in the wrong, Sean said with defiant confidence, "If you still refuse to accept my apology, then when I'm back to being above Tier Ten, these shackles will just be the starting point."
"You know how I am, Miss Daeli."
"I'm very creative."
Daeli: "?"
She had almost forgotten about it. But now that Sean had brought it up, that strange, indescribable feeling from the past—part shame, part thrill—surged through her uncontrollably. A blush crept up her cheeks, betraying the cold mask she was trying so hard to maintain.
'This bastard... He really knows how to poke a sore spot!'
Sean pushed his luck further. "Oh? Are you blushing?"
Daeli: "It's because I'm furious with you!"
Sean held up his hands in a gesture of innocence. "Hey, I haven't done a thing."
He hadn't done anything now.
But he had before.
And he said he would again!
Daeli took a deep breath and said, "I'm going to ask you one last time."
"Are you going to break up with Eli, or not?"
"I won't!"
Sean's stance was firm. "No matter how many times you ask, that will be my answer!"
He was making a bet.
He was betting that Daeli would go soft on him.
Because from start to finish, Daeli had never forced him to make the truly cruel choice: If he could only have one of the sisters, would it be her or Elvire?
That was the real no-win scenario.
The difficulty wasn't in the question itself. Rather, the very act of asking it would mean Daeli had already made up her mind, leaving him no chance to have it both ways.
The fact that Daeli hadn't asked meant there was still wiggle room.
Daeli loved him, but she also loved Elvire deeply. From Daeli's perspective, she wouldn't want to see her own sister heartbroken. That's why she had blurred his face, preventing Elvire from recognizing him. But she hadn't done the same to Elise's face, which had indirectly provided him with an "alibi" and dispelled Elvire's suspicion.
Daeli was helping him.
When Sean first realized this, he had been deeply moved.
But being moved was one thing; he still had to win over his sister-in-law.
To use an inappropriate analogy, he was already past the point of no return.
They had held hands, they had hugged, they had kissed. Sean felt he had to be responsible for his sister-in-law.
And tonight, Daeli had played along with his act for the entire evening. If she were really at her breaking point, would she have been so considerate?
Of course not.
People lose all reason when they're pushed into a state of extreme fury.
Besides, so-called noble etiquette only applies between those of similar standing. The Grev Family and the Blazing Angel Family weren't even in the same league. Even if Daeli had actually torn the house down, the Grev Family wouldn't have dared to say a word. They'd probably just clap and cheer, saying she did a fine job and that they'd been wanting to replace the old castle for ages.
In this land of rigid hierarchies, the High Nobles could do as they pleased.
And so, Sean took the gamble.
He believed Daeli must be incredibly conflicted right now. He had to stand his ground to make the wavering scales of her heart tip in his favor.
The worst that could happen was death, anyway.
Of course, it would be best not to die, if he could help it.
He was afraid of pain.
So Sean made sure to add one last thing: "Don't forget what I just said."
"You can do whatever you want with me now, but sooner or later, all debts must be paid."
He said this while jangling the shackles in his hand.
This made Daeli laugh with exasperation.
"Sean, do you know something?"
"Only the weak resort to threats."
With a single sentence, she exposed him for the paper tiger he was.
Of course, Sean wouldn't admit it. He kept up the tough act. "You'll see whether it's a threat or not. When the time comes, don't come crying and begging for mercy. Just call me 'daddy'."
Daeli: "???"
'Waving a pair of shackles in my face wasn't enough, he had to bring up the 'daddy' thing too??'
'You bastard! You are so dead tonight!'
Daeli, who had been trying so hard to remain calm, was finally goaded into a rage by Sean's provocations.
"Fine. Since you refuse to break up with Eli, you can face the consequences!"
The moment the words left her mouth, Daeli reached out. Before Sean could even react, the shackles flew from his hand into hers.
This was the power of a Tier Ten.
Any Magic they could comprehend, cast by someone of a lower Tier, could be turned into their own weapon, no matter who the original caster was.
With the shackles snatched away right before his eyes, Sean had a very bad feeling. Seeing that Daeli was finally getting serious, he instinctively took two steps back. "What are you doing?"
"Stay back!"
Daeli sneered. "Weren't you the one who said I could do with you as I please?"
Sean: "I did, but—!"
"You'd better think about the consequences! I'm above Tier Ten!"
"Wrong," Daeli corrected him. "You're merely Tier Three."
The power gap between them was too vast. Even without using Magic, his aura was completely exposed to her.
"That's only for now."
Sean said: "You've seen my Cultivation Speed. It won't take long for me to recover my power!"
Daeli: "Then we can talk after you've recovered."
Sean, not ready to give up, tried to minimize the damage with one last threat. "I'll get you back for this!"
Daeli scoffed. "As if you would have spared me even if I did nothing."
Things had never been like this before. From the moment she'd met Sean, the man's Tier had always been higher than hers. She'd never had the chance to bully him; she could only be the obedient one. And what was the result?
Hadn't Sean put her in shackles anyway?
So, in Daeli's view, Sean's threats were utterly meaningless.
If anything, it served as a reminder.
If she didn't seize this opportunity, while he was still 'developing', to teach him a lesson, she'd truly be powerless against him in the future.
She wouldn't be able to beat him, nor could she leave him. Her soul was far more faithful than his—it could only ever love one person. What was she supposed to do then?
Better to let Sean get a taste of her revenge before he had a chance to get his.
VMMMM!
Daeli's gaze darkened as she advanced on Sean step by step. With a flick of her right wrist, the iron chain whirred like a whip.
Terror filled Sean's eyes. "What are you planning to do?"
Daeli parted her red lips and spoke two words.
"Doing you."
Sean: "???"
Daeli whipped the chain, instantly binding Sean. The shackles locked onto his limbs, and she tossed him directly onto the bed.
Then, with an Instant Teleportation, she was on top of him, pinning him beneath her.
A pleasant, fragrant scent washed over his face, accompanied by the tickle of her dangling hair.
Sean: "Don't!"
"Mmph~"
