The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 486 - 221: False Heaven (2)

Daeli wasn’t moved by Sean’s incoherent moans.

"When a man says ’no,’ he means ’yes.’ You taught me that."

"Ngh~"

WHOOSH!

Daeli pulled the bed curtains shut.

The gust of air extinguished the lamp, leaving only the soft glow of a mood-setting candelabra on the table.

The few flames flickered gently, casting a story-rich shadow play upon the walls.

The shadow of the large, soft bed was projected on the wall in sharp detail; one could even distinguish the sheets from the curtains by the varying shades of darkness.

A moment later, a jacket was tossed out, followed by a shirt.

A little while after that, a pair of briefs—objectively the most structurally stable of garments—was flung out.

As well as a certain bowl-shaped, ribbon-adorned article of clothing.

Tonight, someone was destined to pay a heavy price.

To some extent, Sean had indeed guessed Daeli’s intentions.

The reason she’d helped him hide his face was that she didn’t want to upset her sister.

Daeli knew this wasn’t a long-term solution. The truth will out, after all. Take the simplest example: Elvire already knew her brother-in-law had returned. What if one day, for some holiday, they decided to have a family get-together? Sean and Carl Black couldn’t possibly appear at the same time. So, should Sean show up as Elvire’s brother-in-law, or as her boyfriend?

If Elvire were to ask where the other man was and why he hadn’t come, what would they say?

This wasn’t a problem that could be solved with Cognitive Magic. Sooner or later, Elvire would find out that Sean was Carl Black.

It was just that Daeli couldn’t think of a better solution at the moment, so she could only focus on getting through the night.

Otherwise, causing a scene in the Grev Family’s castle would be terribly embarrassing.

On the other hand, Daeli felt she didn’t really need to come up with a perfect solution.

Helping Sean this one time was already a show of immense tolerance.

’The old her wouldn’t have even let Sean into her room tonight.’

So, when it came to "bullying" Sean tonight, Daeli felt no guilt whatsoever.

She wasn’t helping him for free.

In Mysticism, there’s a principle known as "equivalent exchange."

She had helped Sean deceive Elvire. In return, it was only right that Sean serve her well tonight.

As for next time...

’That wasn’t her problem to think about.’

She had asked Sean to break up with Elvire three times, and he had refused each time.

’In that case, he can deal with the consequences of his own mistakes.’

’How he dealt with the identity issue was his problem, not hers.’

’She only cared about the outcome.’

If he couldn’t handle it properly, someone was going to be in for a world of hurt.

Then there was that woman, Elise.

Daeli hadn’t mentioned Elise at all tonight, not because she failed to notice the ambiguous relationship between her and Sean, but simply because she couldn’t be bothered.

Elise wasn’t her sister. In Daeli’s eyes, the woman could be dealt with as she saw fit. If Sean dared to intervene, she’d deal with him right along with Elise.

It was just that Daeli didn’t want to be the "bad guy."

After all, Elise and her sister were on good terms. If Daeli made a move, Elvire would undoubtedly dig for the truth, and since Daeli couldn’t tell her sister what was really going on, explaining herself would be a whole other headache.

Daeli wasn’t a very good liar, so she decided to let another woman handle the Elise situation.

Let’s not forget why she had brought Elvire to the Golden Coast.

Although several days had passed without any sign of Her Highness the Saintess, Daeli guessed that she was here on the Golden Coast. Perhaps she was right outside the window at this very moment, watching her and Sean being intimate, gritting her teeth with jealousy.

The Magic Array she had set up in the room could stop others, but it couldn’t stop the Saintess.

As a fellow Tier Ten, such a simple trick couldn’t fool Olivia.

Others might not know what was happening in the room, nor could they hear a thing. But Olivia would definitely know. And if she wanted to, she could see everything with perfect clarity. At that thought, the blush already on Daeli’s face deepened into a vibrant crimson, like a breathtaking sunset.

’It’s always a little embarrassing to be watched.’

So Daeli’s movements became even bolder.

It made Sean gasp and grip the sheets tightly.

Looking at the man before her, whose face hadn’t changed in hundreds of years, Daeli’s eyes shimmered with a captivating light, and the corners of her lips curved into a slight smile.

’The Saintess is a woman, too. She can get just as jealous as anyone.’

’And guess who Her Highness the Saintess would take out all the frustration she felt from tonight’s display on?’

...

「Downstairs.」

Completely unaware of the sweaty battle raging overhead, Elise was racking her brain to explain to her good friend and leader, Elvire, why she had come to the New World with Sean. As she spoke, she suddenly shivered, a sense of foreboding washing over her.

"What’s wrong?" Elvire asked.

Elise stammered, "N-nothing."

A Wizard’s premonition was never baseless, but she couldn’t worry about that now. She still hadn’t managed to bluff her way through the current situation.

Elvire figured it was just because the night was a bit chilly. Both the New World and the Farm World had entered spring, but the temperature here was indeed lower. ’Perhaps because we’re so close to the Winterless Sea?’ she wondered. Elvire got up to close the window, then returned to the sofa. "Go on," she said to Elise.

Elise forced a laugh. "Actually... that’s pretty much the whole story."

This "sisterly heart-to-heart" made Elise feel like she was walking a tightrope over a bottomless abyss, one misstep away from being smashed to smithereens.

Because she still had no idea what had actually happened.

She had heard Elvire mention "Cognitive Magic" during the banquet, so she could guess why the young woman hadn’t recognized Sean. The question was, who had cast this Cognitive Magic? And why did Sean still look like Sean to her?
