Chapter 1309: Chapter 579: Now We’ve Truly Stumbled Into the Celestial Family (Part 2)
Liu Men: "...Alright then."
When things get tricky, it’s best to pull out while you can.
After receiving and sorting the money, Liu Men and Lin Li together laid the electric bike flat and began the repair.
The mechanics at the auto repair shop indeed could fix electric bikes. Liu Men quickly noticed the issue was with the front brake; the brake line screw was loose, causing almost complete loss of braking power, and the brake pads were severely worn.
"The loose screw isn’t your fault, but you should pay attention to the brake pads and replace them timely. It was lucky you found the issue quickly this time, otherwise even Grandpa couldn’t solve it with just one call."
As Liu Men deftly tightened the screws with a wrench and replaced the brake pads, he complained.
The money sorting was premature because it would soon be returned.
Lin Li’s task progress made a small advancement thanks to the assistance this time.
For dinner, Lin Li had the boxed meal ordered by Sister Li, as the auto repair shop provided meals and lodging for apprentices and mechanics. Lin Li enjoyed this perk along with others.
With no more orders for the day, Sister Li informed Lin Li that he could clock out at the theoretical end time of six o’clock and handed him his wages.
Even though he wasn’t short on money, getting paid timely was a nice perk.
Lin Li decided not to ruin the shop’s reputation during the task.
Upon biking home, Wu Min had returned surprisingly early and was at home.
"Back already?" Wu Min asked, looking up from her phone without watching the TV, and inquired after hearing the door open, "What’s up today?"
"Took up a part-time job for fun."
There would be more part-time jobs in the future, and he would inevitably be asked about it. Since there was nothing embarrassing about it, Lin Li was straightforward in response.
Wu Min raised an eyebrow, not too surprised, but frowned and asked, "Really short of money? What, saving up for a New Year’s gift for Yu Ying?"
"Not short of money," Lin Li replied as he swapped to his slippers and plopped onto the sofa beside Wu Min, lazily explaining, "Just doing it for fun, like when I wanted to deliver food last time. If I were short on money, our class would have collected next semester’s fees by now."
"What kind of part-time job did you find?"
"At an auto repair shop. Once I learn how, I can fix our family’s car when it breaks down, Sister Min. With our relationship, I could give you a thirty percent discount."
"Only thirty percent?"
"Giving a discount to mother would seem ungrateful, I might get drowned like ancient times. Better not."
"You still have the concept of gratitude, huh," Wu Min chuckled, "Just let me know if you’re really out of money, I can help."
Elbowing away her son who cozily nudged her, Wu Min asked, "So will you be working at the shop every afternoon from now on? Which shop is it?"
"Not always. Maybe in the morning, maybe in the afternoon, maybe the whole day, or not at all. My part-time job is flexible, I can request leave anytime with half day’s notice, and I don’t plan on doing it for long. If I get tired in three minutes, I’m off."
"Then you might as well go in the morning tomorrow, leave the afternoon free," Wu Min quickly suggested.
"Hmm? Is there something tomorrow afternoon?" Lin Li asked, looking at Wu Min.
"Yeah, some of your aunts plan to come over and hang out. Join Mum in entertaining them, will you?" Wu Min nodded, "But if you don’t want to, it’s fine. I can manage as a single mom."
"Oh no—" Lin Li chuckled, "Mum, don’t go selling that ’poor me’ narrative. If word gets out, I’ll end up with trouble. I’ll stay, alright?"
The auto repair shop wouldn’t mind as Lin Li could still work in the morning, preventing the awkwardness of taking a day off so soon after starting the job.
Perfect time for Sister Li to experience his leave-taking intensity, letting her acclimate early.
"But please, Mum, don’t announce any unexpected guest for me to entertain after tomorrow night. I’ve made plans to go out." Lin Li added.
"Not so many aunts," Wu Min waved her hand, glancing at her phone, "Alright, I’m off to get my hair done. Dress up nicely tomorrow too."
Wu Min remarked as she got up, then suddenly turned around and pointed at Lin Li: "Not the street-smart kind of nice."
Lin Li: "..."
He hadn’t even said anything yet.
Sister Min’s bias and malice towards him were really strong, frustrating.
Picking up his phone to inform Sister Li in advance, Lin Li returned to his room, continuing to work through his endless treasure trove.
...
The next day.
"A life filled with love, no fear of flying sands~ White hair can’t keep beauty at hand~ Tossing away the kingdom for her smile of grace~ Is worth a life without trace~ Heart without complaints loves her through fate~ The world of love never ends~ Only for her~ Sleeve~ Hands~ Beneath~ Sky~"

At noon, after finishing his morning work, Lin Li hummed a tune while biking towards his apartment.
A morning’s efforts pushed the task progress bar to around 35%.
If given a full day for work, he could finish it in two days, but even if not, a slower pace wouldn’t matter.
He climbed upstairs, opened the door, and was greeted by the cracking sound of frying from the kitchen.
"How long till it’s ready? Getting a bit hungry," Lin Li put on his slippers, walking into the kitchen, inspecting like a manager with hands behind his back.
Wu Min must have put on make-up today. Lin Li suspected today’s aunt gatherings included a competition for whose life was the best.
Wu Min: "These are for dinner, what’s on the table is enough for lunch."
"True, almost thought I had status at home," Lin Li glanced at the single dish on the table, giving a thumbs up behind Wu Min’s back and to himself.
Not picky though, Lin Li simply finished his lunch and returned to his room.
Caught a break to continue refining.
When he snapped back to reality, it was Wu Min’s voice calling from outside.
"Lin Li!"
"The doorbell rang, go open the door!"
"Coming——!!" Lin Li’s voice drew out as he stashed away his magic treasure, got up, and opened the door.
Wu Min wasn’t in the kitchen anymore; with quite some time till dinner and all preparations done, she only needed to cook lasting till dinner. Doing it now would mean the food might cool.
She was now leisurely sitting on the sofa, organizing snacks on the coffee table prepared for guests, many bought after her hair appointment last night, and Lin Li wasn’t allowed to sneak a taste.
The electronic bell at the door was ringing rhythmically.
"Mum, I thought you were busy in the kitchen, why not open it yourself?" Lin Li remarked while heading to the door, casually.
"When I didn’t have a son, I opened doors myself. With a son, if I still open doors myself, doesn’t that mean my son is useless?" Wu Min replied cheerfully.
"True."
Lin Li nodded, quickly moving forward, and opened the door.
"Auntie—Hmm?"
Opening the door to reveal a twenty-centimeter gap, Lin Li failed to complete saying "Hello, Auntie."
As there wasn’t an aunt outside.
The afternoon sun shone obliquely into the hallway, outlining a slender yet all too familiar figure.
Chen Yu Ying was standing there!!\0/\0/\0/\0/\0/!!!
Clearly having dressed up meticulously, but Lin Li hadn’t had the chance to look closely before his gaze was captured by her expression.
—as if expecting Lin Li to open the door, upon seeing him startled while pulling the door open, then seeing the outside, a honeyed smile spread across her face, vivid like spring arriving early.
She tilted her head slightly, her neck tracing a gentle curve, with a hint of smugness and playfulness, as if she had successfully crafted a little surprise like a fluffy young kitten.
Her bright eyes arched into crescents, filled with laughing intent.
Immediately following, her soft, sweet voice rang out, filled with unabashed joy and happiness:
"Lin—Li—"
Intentionally prolonging the tone, with a light lift at the end, then Chen Yu Ying said with a refreshingly charming voice:
"Good afternoon~"
