The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 523: Are You Trying to Find a Fall Guy for the Baby in Your Belly?
“Where have you been the past few days? Those are some serious dark circles.”
Yun Jiao poked Fu Mingyu.
Fu Mingyu said, “Those two still haven’t given up. They want to set me up in an arranged marriage. I went to a banquet for one of Grandpa’s old war buddies, and they dragged me along for a matchmaking session.”
Fu Mingyu’s face darkened at the thought.
To make matters worse, the woman was the granddaughter of another one of Grandpa’s good friends, so he had to show some respect.
He had made it crystal clear to the woman that he could never like her, and that he was already in love with someone else.
But wouldn’t you know it, she latched onto him anyway, even saying she didn’t mind.
‘Well, I mind! I mind a lot!’
As pitiful as his situation was, Yun Jiao couldn’t help but laugh.
Fu Mingyu gave her a mournful look.
Yun Jiao cleared her throat. “Come on, let’s go. Today is my fifth brother’s birthday. We should go find him.”
Yun Xiaowu had booked a private room at one of Su Huan’s clubs, mainly for karaoke, pool, and other games.
Yun Jiao brought a birthday cake and drove over with Fu Mingyu.
“Jiaojiao~”
Yun Xiaowu came over and gave his little sister a huge hug.
“Happy birthday, Fifth Brother.”
Yun Xiaowu grinned. “Of course I’m happy now that you’re here.”
“Come on, let’s go sing. Everyone’s been wanting to hear you.”
“Isn’t Brother Nine here too?”
“You sound better.”
The private room was full of familiar faces, so everyone felt comfortable letting loose and having fun.
There were all sorts of tasty snacks, too.
A dedicated bartender was mixing drinks, and Yun Jiao was given a beautiful, low-alcohol cocktail.
It was fun, but the room started to feel a bit stuffy after a while, so Yun Jiao stepped out of the private room for some air.
A moment later, Fu Mingyu joined her.
“For you.”
Yun Jiao took it, and one look left her speechless.
“How old do you think I am? Why are you still giving me yogurt drinks?”
Despite saying that, Yun Jiao still stuck a straw in and started drinking.
“My biological father… I’ve been searching for a long time, but there’s still no sign of him.”
If he were still alive, with the looks he had in An Zhiya’s portrait, it would be impossible not to find him.
Yun Jiao had gone to ask the people of the Water Weaving Woman Clan, bringing a photo with her.
It was a photo of the portrait.
To her surprise, her biological father really was from the Water Weaving Woman Clan.
He was even the chief’s son, but he wanted to see the outside world, so at the age of twenty, he left the island he had always lived on.
But he was undocumented, and with no boat, his only way out was to swim.
He must have run into trouble in the ocean. He was injured, passed out, and was carried by the waves to the place where An Zhiya and Song Qing were vacationing. That was where An Zhiya saved him.
For them, it was love at first sight.
As they spent more time together, they fell deeper in love.
Tragically, they were separated by a disaster before they had the chance to marry.
Yun Jiao said, “I want to go back and see that place where my mother was vacationing, one last time.”
Fu Mingyu said, “I’ll go with you.”
Yun Jiao looked at him. Their eyes met, and just as she opened her mouth to speak, a woman suddenly rushed toward them.
“Fu Mingyu, I knew I’d find you here.”
Fu Mingyu’s brow furrowed as he looked at her.
“Fu Mingyu, I’m quite satisfied with you. Let’s have our families arrange the engagement now.”
“My grandpa and your grandpa are close friends, so isn’t it perfect for our families to be united? With our marriage alliance, I don’t even mind if you really have someone you like. As long as I become Mrs. Fu, that’s all that matters.”
Her gaze turned to Yun Jiao, with a hint of contempt.
Even though Yun Jiao was now the CEO of An Pharmaceutical, among the elite, An Pharmaceutical was considered a second-tier family at best, completely incomparable to her own.
Besides, in her opinion, someone like Yun Jiao, who came from a small town in the countryside, was surely incapable of managing An Pharmaceutical. It was bound to go bankrupt sooner or later.
Fu Mingyu’s face truly darkened. ‘That couple really can’t stand to see me happy, can they? What kind of bizarre women do they keep throwing at me day in and day out!’
“Miss Li, I’ve already made myself perfectly clear. I’m not interested.”
“Don’t you care about the Fu Family?”
Fu Mingyu’s expression was icy. “What does that have to do with me?”
“Please leave.”
Li Xingzhen tried to grab his hand. “No, I…”
Yun Jiao cut in, “Are you trying to find a sucker to be the father of the baby in your belly?”
Hearing this, Li Xingzhen was thrown into a panic.
Fu Mingyu: …
“My apologies, I study traditional Chinese medicine. I happened to touch your wrist just now, and I could immediately feel that you’re pregnant. About a month along, I’d say.”
“That’s pretty shameless of you, don’t you think?”
She said, folding her arms.
Li Xingzhen stammered, “Y-You! What nonsense are you spouting!”
“I…”
Fu Mingyu said, “Don’t even think about dragging me into this. I’ve known you for less than a week.”
“Besides, I’m still a virgin.”
His face was grim, and he sounded almost panicked as he said it. He was clearly terrified that Li Xingzhen would try to pin this on him.
“What are you guys doing?”
When Yun Jiao and Fu Mingyu didn’t return to the private room, the others came out to see what was going on.
The group of tall, handsome men looked quite intimidating.
“Little Sister, who is she?”
Yun Xiaowu strolled over with a cigarette dangling from his lips, but he put it out as he approached Yun Jiao.
Yun Jiao said, “She’s pregnant and wants to make Fu Mingyu the father.”
“Holy shit!”
The group of people widened their eyes, looking at Li Xingzhen as if she were some kind of rare animal.
“What the hell were you thinking? You’re carrying some guy’s kid, but instead of finding the real dad, you come here to prey on a decent man?”
“Hey lady, that’s pretty messed up.”
Li Xingzhen gritted her teeth. “The child is Fu Mingyu’s! He’s trying to seduce me and then abandon me!”
Yun Jiao laughed. “You conceived this baby about a month ago. Didn’t you do your homework before trying to frame him? For the past two months, Fu Mingyu has been with his advisor in a closed-door lab experiment. He never left the entire time.”
Li Xingzhen’s face turned pale. “I…”
Fu Mingyu snapped, “Get lost. I’ll have my grandfather speak to your grandfather about this personally.”
‘I just wonder if Grandpa Li knows about this. If he does, then I guess our families’ friendship can cool off from now on.’
Li Xingzhen ran away in shame and anger.
Anyone with any sense of shame would not come looking for Fu Mingyu again.
Back in the private room, Yun Jiao texted Grandpa Fu about the whole incident.
Word has it that later that night, Fu Mingyu’s father and Fu Mingqi were beaten half to death by Mr. Fu.
He even kicked their entire family out of the old family residence.
After that, Mr. Fu paid a visit to the Li Family. No one knows what was said, but a few days later, Li Xingzhen was forced to have an abortion, and the Li Family sent her abroad.
This incident didn’t affect Yun Jiao much.
Once they were ready, she set off for the fishing village where her biological parents had met. Fu Mingyu went with her, as did Brother Nine, who had a rare day off, and Yun Xiao Ba, who wanted to get out and find some new landscapes to paint.
The fishing village was incredibly remote. Not only were the roads treacherous, but the village itself didn’t even have electricity.
Nowadays most rural areas have electricity, but there are still some more remote places that don’t.
It was rather inconvenient.
