The Ocean's Little Tyrant: A Mermaid Baby Conquers the 80s
Chapter 522: Retribution
Song Qing unfurled the painting.
The painting depicted a man with strikingly handsome features.
The man’s hair and eyes held a faint blue tint, and with the vast sea as his backdrop, he looked like a spirit born from the ocean.
“This man is the true father of Zhiya’s child.”
“Zhiya was an exceptional painter. She painted this for the man she loved.”
Yun Jiao looked over as well.
Her features resembled An Zhiya’s by about half, but the rest were indeed similar to this father.
One could say that Yun Jiao was a perfect fusion of their best features, making her even more beautiful than either of them.
“So, Yun Jiao’s hair color is all the more proof that she’s Zhiya’s child. The color wasn’t obvious when she was little; her hair gradually turned blue as she grew older.”
Su Kangcheng’s expression darkened, and he offered no more excuses.
No one there was a fool. Even if he continued to make excuses, no one would believe him now.
Su Nian cried at the side. In truth… she had known all along.
But she had accepted it all with a clear conscience because, for as long as she could remember, her home was the Su family, her father was her biological father, and her mother was her biological mother.
Her parents were always by her side. She wasn’t the young heiress of some other family. It was just… her family had usurped another’s.
Song Qing said, “Bring in the nanny.”
After the nanny who had cared for Su Nian was brought in, she knelt and recounted how she had followed the couple’s orders to take the child to a distant city and abandon her.
When everyone heard her say she had thrown the child into the sea, they stared at the Su family as if they were looking at beasts.
“What a meticulously crafted scheme. If the An family’s child hadn’t survived, Su Kangcheng’s plot would have been a complete success.”
“Oh, it did succeed. They enjoyed the An family’s wealth and glory for seventeen years. It’s just that the rightful owner has finally come to their door.”
“To be thrown into the sea and come out unscathed… that girl is incredibly lucky to be alive.”
“More than unscathed! Look at her. She looks like she’s had a good life. I heard she’s a student at Qingbei University, too.”
Sun Shuzhen, unwilling to face reality, grabbed a wine glass and hurled it at the nanny.
“What nonsense are you spouting! Nini isn’t my daughter! She isn’t! She’s An Zhiya’s daughter!”
“This was all your design! All of you…”
Song Qing scoffed. “Should we run another DNA test on you and Su Nian?”
“But you can save your arguments for prison.”
As soon as she finished speaking, police officers walked in.
“Which one of you is Su Kangcheng? Your company is under investigation for tax evasion, falsifying medicinal ingredients, and murder for financial gain. Please come with us.”
“And Sun Shuzhen…”
Sun Shuzhen broke down, screaming, “I didn’t do it! It has nothing to do with me! It wasn’t me…!”
But in the end, they were all taken away, along with Su Nian and their son.
Song Qing grabbed Yun Jiao’s hand, her own eyes red.
“After all these years… I’ve finally, finally avenged Zhiya and Uncle An!”
Yun Jiao patted her hand reassuringly.
“Mom and Grandpa would be very happy.”
Song Qing wiped the corner of her eye. “This isn’t over yet. We need to quickly liquidate the assets belonging to the An family. We can’t let those bloodsuckers from the An and Sun families get away with anything.”
The first thing they did after leaving the banquet was to take bodyguards and reclaim the An family residence.
As for An’s Company, they would have to go through legal proceedings to get the shares back.
Song Qing had been secretly acquiring scattered shares of An Pharmaceutical over the years, and she had already handed them all over to Yun Jiao.
Once Yun Jiao reclaimed the shares that rightfully belonged to her, she would immediately become the largest shareholder of An Pharmaceutical.
News of what happened at the banquet spread like wildfire.
The incident was all over television and the newspapers.
The Su Family was now utterly infamous.
Dealing with the Su family’s affairs kept Yun Jiao busy for nearly a month, but she finally reclaimed everything that belonged to the An family.
For the crime of murder for financial gain, Su Kangcheng and Sun Shuzhen were given a suspended death sentence.
Su Nian and her brother were found to have committed no crime and were released.
But upon their return, they were lost, with nowhere to go.
One day, Su Nian sought out Yun Jiao.
“Yun Jiao!”
Yun Jiao looked over to see Su Nian’s furious expression. “You won! You must be so proud, right? My family is shattered because of you! I can’t even go to school anymore! Are you satisfied now?!”
Yun Jiao looked at her and smiled.
“Your family was only shattered when you turned seventeen. What about me?”
She walked up to Su Nian. “Need I remind you that my family was shattered from the moment I was born, thanks to your parents?”
Su Nian’s eyes were red. “But you’re fine, aren’t you? You’ve clearly lived a good life all these years! You have a master, adoptive parents, and all those brothers. You already have everything!”
“So?”
Yun Jiao replied, “So my mother and my grandfather deserved to die?”
“So your family deserved to take everything that wasn’t yours?”
“Su Nian, I haven’t come after you. Don’t push your luck.”
“I didn’t take back the money in your bank account—the money that was yours. That was my mercy. But my mercy is not an invitation for you to come and blame me when you know full well what your family did was wrong.”
“Your starting point in life is already much higher than most people’s. Whether you sink or swim from now on is up to you. Stop blaming everyone else. What happened to them was the retribution they deserved.”
With that, Yun Jiao turned and left.
She didn’t know what Su Nian was thinking, but after that day, Yun Jiao never saw her again.
She only heard from Brother Nine that Su Nian had taken her younger brother and left the Capital, their destination unknown.
Yun Jiao paid it no mind.
At An Pharmaceutical, she terminated the contracts with partners selling inferior ingredients and instead sought out the suppliers who had worked with An’s in the past. By showing great sincerity, she finally convinced them to resume their cooperation with the company.
Afterward, she hired an assistant to manage the company’s daily affairs. A portion of An Pharmaceutical’s profits was used to establish a foundation dedicated to ocean conservation and donating to orphanages.
Another portion was dedicated to researching medical equipment.
She wanted to develop a set of medical devices that could perform health examinations on animals.
