Chapter 1929 - 1928: Family

"You look really good, even better than I imagined."

It's like treating Tang Rao as a nobody, saying such tacky, shameless words to Chen Jingyi with so many people present.

"Cough cough, can we not talk about this? Can we change the topic?"

Chen Jingyi was afraid a glance from Tang Rao could kill a stranger, worried that if Tang Rao got angry, the consequences would be dire.

"You see, I'm just like this; girls usually are thin-skinned, and here I go blurting out such things as soon as we meet. You must be unaccustomed to that, right?"

Tang Rao had her fist clenched tightly; fortunately, Chen Jingyi provided an explanation earlier saying where they met each other, otherwise Tang Rao is known to misunderstand and cut off ties with everyone.

"You obviously don't have a place to stay since you just arrived. Why don't I arrange accommodation for you?"

Just as she turned to introduce them again, Tang Rao used voice transmission to remind her to go with the flow instead, preventing exposing their complex relationships which wouldn't be beneficial for Tang Rao's matters.

Receiving Tang Rao's message, Chen Jingyi quickly changed her approach, dispelling the man's concerns about Tang Rao and the others.

"It's fine. Since they also need a place, I can arrange accommodations for them too, but theirs won't be as good as yours, slightly inferior, that's alright, right?"

The man intentionally differentiated between the accommodations for Chen Jingyi and Tang Rao's crew, perhaps hinting at his greater interest in Chen Jingyi?

"No problem, of course it's fine, we just didn't know where to stay upon arrival. Since a good friend is willing to introduce this place, we'll settle here. It's okay if conditions are a bit poor, as long as it saves money."

Tang Rao was rather unreserved, but Chen Jingyi wasn't pleased about why her place would be better and Tang Rao's worse.

Even if differentiated, wasn't the gap a bit too much?

"Oh oh, Jingyi, it seems your friends are easygoing too. Rest assured, your friends are my friends, while you're on South Island, I'll surely host you all well."

The man obviously considered Chen Jingyi part of his own family.

"You're so kind to me, I wouldn't know how to repay you."

"Now you sound formal, we're one big family, no need for formalities. Come on, let me take you to your place first."

Chen Jingyi truly was stunning; her eyes like frosty ice held onto the man, tempting to steal his soul away. He wanted nothing more than to confess he never liked a woman as much before, but fearing it was too rash with all these people, fearing her rejection, he decided to wait for a better chance, and declare his feelings to Chen Jingyi secretly later.

Bringing Chen Jingyi back to the mansion, the man was elated, but the extra few trailing behind weren't as appealing compared to Chen Jingyi.

Even with Bei Lin, Wang Han, Rao Linger, three rare beauties in front of him, his joy wasn't quite there.

"This is the Island Master Mansion of South Island. I'm able to bring you in due to the Island Master's favor. Even though you get to stay in such a nice place, remember your identities, don't ask what shouldn't be asked, don't go where you shouldn't go, got it?"

Although the man seemed flirtatious, his mind was clear, he knew the limits of bringing people in, which on a side note indicated that the South Island's Island Master was indeed superior in some regard compared to others.

"Got it."

Tang Rao and Wu Suowei were in sync, understanding each other's scheming minds, communicated via voice transmission and decided to put on a perfect show for the man, to see if he'd dare pursue Chen Jingyi.

"You all settle here first; this is a separate courtyard, some distance from the main area, remember not to disturb the Island Master's peace. Jingyi, follow me, I'll show you to your place."

The man first settled Tang Rao and party, then insisted on taking Chen Jingyi alone away. Tang Rao nearly went out to teach the man a lesson, but regained composure quickly.

Chen Jingyi, taking advantage of the man's inattentiveness, glanced at Tang Rao, almost wanting to tell the man she's fine staying with friends, no need for special treatment, isn't this place already quite good?

Tang Rao obviously disagreed, telling Chen Jingyi someone needed to gather information, someone needed to hold this man up, dig out something from him. Chen Jingyi thought it made sense, and reluctantly agreed to the man's request.
