Chapter 1930 - 1930: 1929 Sudden Appearance

To be honest, she really didn't feel like her situation called for some fancy place to stay. As long as this man stopped saying those creepy things, she could crash anywhere, really.

"Then I'll trouble you."

Chen Jingyi mulled it over in her head for a long time, and finally managed to come up with this line.

"It's no trouble. Just think of it as staying with family, don't be so polite."

The man sounded polite enough, but his eyes never left Chen Jingyi's body.

"I'm exhausted from the trip. I want to rest first."

Chen Jingyi waited a long time, thinking the man would have some sense and leave on his own. But not all men in this world have gentlemanly manners. Some people just have no shame, and even tearing off that layer of skin for them is a bit difficult.

"Alright, then you rest first. I'll stay by your side and keep you safe."

Pff!

Chen Jingyi wanted to curse him out, and suddenly realized she still didn't even know this man's name, yet he wanted to watch her sleep. Was this some kind of international joke?

"I don't need you protecting me by my side. This is our first time meeting, I don't even know your name yet. Isn't this a bit too forward?"

Chen Jingyi spoke bluntly, and people like her were often the easiest to trust.

Having all your thoughts written on your face is much better than making people think you're hiding things in your heart and constantly doubting you.

The man didn't feel he was being forward at all. It was just that he really had forgotten to introduce himself, which was probably why Chen Jingyi felt he was too much of a stranger.

"My name's Yang Qiuyi. Even though this is our first time meeting, I've already dreamed of you a thousand times. In my dreams, you look exactly like this, not the slightest difference. Tell me, isn't that fate?"

Fate or not, Chen Jingyi didn't know. She just wanted this damn man to disappear from in front of her, right now.

"Oh, so your name is Yang Qiuyi. Just hearing it, it sounds like you're a good person. Big brother, I'm really tired. Whatever you want to say, can we save it for tomorrow?"

To get Yang Qiuyi to leave immediately, Chen Jingyi really was willing to say any disgusting sweet talk that came to mind.

"But big brother just wants to stay with you. Whatever you want tonight, I can bring it to you right away. Isn't that great?"

Yang Qiuyi was getting more and more brazen. Hearing her call him "big brother" made him itch inside, and he almost couldn't wait to push Chen Jingyi down on the bed.

"No need, you're really too polite. I don't want anything tonight, I just want to get some good rest."

Chen Jingyi had a big grin on her face, but in her heart it was all "screw you." She cussed him out up and down in her mind, things that should be said and shouldn't be said, and after she was done, she actually felt a lot better.

She could finally keep her emotions in check.

But if Yang Qiuyi kept staying here, she couldn't guarantee whether her emotions would suddenly hit the red line and explode.

"Alright then, since Jing Yi little sister put it that way, I'll go for now. But if you want me to come keep you company, all you have to do is call my name once in Illusion City, and I'll come right away."

Yang Qiuyi still seemed a bit unwilling to leave and clearly wanted to stay, but under the pressure of the aura coming off Chen Jingyi, he had no choice but to quietly back off and disappear.

The second Yang Qiuyi stepped out the door, Chen Jingyi felt a rush of relief. What the hell was Tang Rao doing, making her cooperate with him and go along with this act? Was he trying to disgust himself, or disgust her?

"Tang Rao, what the hell do you mean by this?"

In Illusion City, Chen Jingyi roared in the group chat, dragging everyone who had come to South Island out of hiding.

"Jing Yi, are you okay?"

"We were worried sick about you. Where are you? Do you need us to come stay with you?"

"Is that pervert still there? He didn't do anything to you, did he?"

After all, they had lived together before. Their concern for Chen Jingyi was anything but fake.

Being able to find a little warmth from her girlfriends was already a huge comfort for Chen Jingyi.

"The pervert's name is Yang Qiuyi. This is my first time meeting him, and he actually said he wanted to stay in my room and watch me sleep!"

The girls were all talking in the group, and only Tang Rao stayed silent. Was he pretending to be quiet, or had he not seen the messages?

Chen Jingyi didn't say anything out loud, but inside she felt a chill.

"Watch you sleep? You've got to be kidding. So did he leave or not?"

Rao Linger had thought from the start that there was something off about that man's intentions toward Chen Jingyi. But there had been so many people back then, and Rao Linger had been afraid of causing trouble, so she hadn't had the chance to warn Chen Jingyi to be extra careful. She hadn't expected something really would happen.

"He left. If he hadn't, I wouldn't be in the mood to chat with you guys."

Chen Jingyi was venting to her sisters in Illusion City while also worrying about when Yang Qiuyi might suddenly show up again in front of her. That feeling of standing on the edge, about to completely snap, was something no one else could really imagine.

"By the way, where's Tang Rao? Is he already asleep?"

Asleep? No way. Tang Rao had just said he was going somewhere and told them all not to tell Chen Jingyi.

"No idea, probably asleep."

What was the difference between saying that and saying nothing? The disappointment in Chen Jingyi's heart deepened even more.

"Jing Yi, if that pervert comes looking for you again, just tell him off. Worst case, we'll find another place to stay. It's not like any of us are desperate to stay there. As long as you don't get the short end of the stick, it's fine."

Would Chen Jingyi let herself suffer? Of course not. She'd been complaining in the group mostly to get Tang Rao's attention. Now that she'd failed to attract his attention, what was the point of continuing to chat? With that thought, she directly logged out of Illusion City, pulled the blanket she'd brought over her head. As long as she fell asleep, she wouldn't have to think about all those humiliating things, right?

Just as Chen Jingyi felt herself about to fall asleep, a strong wind howled outside the door. Was Yang Qiuyi back?

Chen Jingyi was so scared she didn't even dare breathe, afraid that if she suddenly opened her eyes, Yang Qiuyi would be standing there in front of her again.

Whoosh, whoosh.

The door opened, the latch creaked. Hearing that creak-creak, she was sure someone had come in.

Fight, or kill?

Honestly, she had never even considered not fighting.

As the person outside drew closer, every nerve in Chen Jingyi's body went taut, ready to strike back at any moment.

"Coward. People pretending to sleep don't shake like that. Look at your blanket, it's trembling like you're sieving grain."

Before Chen Jingyi could resist, the person who had entered the room spoke up first.

The voice sounded a bit familiar—Tang Rao?

Chen Jingyi had just sent so many messages without a single reply from Tang Rao, so how on earth was he suddenly standing here?

To confirm her suspicion, Chen Jingyi lifted the blanket and looked toward the doorway.

Holy crap, it really was Tang Rao!
