The People's God: Sacrificing Trillions to Ascend
Chapter 1040 - Unit War
The two sides squared off across the battlefield. The units wasted no time.
Lei Bing’s towering Thunder Colossi floated in the air, launching thousands of lightning orbs at Han Wu and Jing Jing’s army with every wave of their arms.
Jing Jing’s soul-attribute skeleton sea was weak against lightning, so Han Wu ordered his defensive core race, the Iron Abyss Bugs, to the front.
Their massive bodies stacked together into a living wall and absorbed every lightning orb. Iron Abyss Bugs had innate resistance to elemental attacks, so Thunder Colossi’s lightning was nothing more than a tickle.
However, defense alone wasn’t Han Wu’s style. While the Iron Abyss Bugs held the line, their leader, the Earthsunder Golden Scarab, climbed atop the wall. Its attack power was unremarkable for its rank, but it had a crowd-control ability that Han Wu loved.
On command, the Golden Scarab unleashed its signature technique against the hovering Thunder Colossi. “Forced Defecation!”
The mighty Thunder Colossi felt their stomachs churn violently, and some nearly lost the electromagnetic force keeping them airborne.
When the Golden Scarab intensified its ability, the Colossi at the front could no longer hold it in. The sound of something wet and splattering erupted behind them.
Lei Bing’s face went white. Defecating on the battlefield was just asking to be annihilated. Any creature’s focus collapsed during the act, and in a life-or-death battle, a single lapse could be fatal.
Han Wu seized the moment. All of his units released light orbs in unison!
At his command, billions of light orbs rained down on the incapacitated Thunder Colossi like a meteor shower. Many were knocked from the sky and crashed into their own waste. As they were too badly wounded to stand, they could only suffocate in their own excrement.
The spectators stared in disbelief, their hands over their noses. The scene was beyond revolting.
Furious, Lei Bing threw his reserves forward with orders to annihilate every last one of Han Wu’s units.
On average, about eighty percent of Lei Bing’s Thunder Colossi were at Heroic rank, with the remaining twenty percent at Lord rank or higher. Han Wu’s units were more numerous but averaged slightly lower.
This gap mattered little to Han Wu, though.
When Han Wu saw the reinforcements charge in under a canopy of crackling lightning, he simply deployed his signature strategy, the Self-Detonation tactic. Thousands of Nuclear Locusts flew out, each carrying a Giant's spinal fluid in its mouth. Upon reaching the Thunder Colossi formations, the locusts bit down on the vials, triggering their giant transformations.
Golden lightning flashed across half the battlefield. Most spectators assumed Lei Bing had unveiled some new technique, unaware that Lei Bing himself was bewildered as well.
Once the golden flash faded, the Nuclear Locusts—now a hundred times their original size—dove into the Thunder Colossi formations and detonated. Mushroom clouds bloomed one after another. Each cloud represented tens of thousands of dead Thunder Colossi.
Han Wu had merely sacrificed a few thousand Nuclear Locusts. The exchange rate was devastating for Lei Bing.
But it was Han Wu’s next action that truly broke Lei Bing.
Invoking the Netherworld Jurisdiction over the Thunder Colossi corpses, Han Wu quietly commanded, “Arise.”
The dead Thunder Colossi from both the explosions and the excretions rose as undead, this time loyal to Han Wu. They also differed from regular undead in that they retained parts of their memories thanks to the Netherworld Jurisdiction and could still channel lightning through their shattered metal armor to hover in the air.
These filthy Undead Colossi charged at their former comrades like walking biological weapons. Lei Bing’s surviving troops were driven back. It wasn’t so much a matter of being injured as being disgusted.
Lei Bing was both enraged and baffled. This was his first time seeing such tactics. The Divine Civilization has changed a lot in the time I spent training in seclusion with the Chaos Clan!
As a veteran God King, he managed to regain his composure relatively quickly. His losses so far were all cannon fodder, and his true elites hadn’t moved yet. If he held firm, victory could still be his.
He ordered his surviving units to channel their lightning into the massive thundercloud overhead. The cloud swelled with energy before birthing pure-elemental lightning snakes that lashed down at Han Wu’s forces. Everything they touched was destroyed. Even the Iron Abyss Bugs took heavy damage.
“Kid, your little tricks are meaningless in the face of absolute power!” Lei Bing gloated.
Han Wu snorted. “We’ll see about that.”
His healers, the Vampire Bats and the Blood Wraiths, surged forward to treat the wounded. At the same time, a squadron of Great Lightning Dragons flew through his divine realm gate, each carrying a platoon of half-dragons on its back.
Their roars shook the arena; their Dragon Fear rippled outward.
Every living thing in range flinched, including the Thunder Colossus.
Great Dragons were among the noblest life forms in existence. Their mere presence could intimidate nearly anything, though this effect only lasted about a minute against creatures of this caliber.
Lei Bing studied the Great Lightning Dragon squadron with sharp eyes.
“Hmph. Impure mongrel Great Dragons are barely worth showing off.” He sneered, though his eyes were red with envy.
Di Hong eyed the Great Lightning Dragon squadron with keen interest from behind Lei Bing. Even though their bloodline was impure, they still reached the minimum standard to be called a Great Dragon. A force of over three hundred Great Dragons was wasted in enemy hands. They would be better off with him!
“Lei Bing, leave the Great Dragon squadron to me,” Di Hong instructed, wanting to take them for his own. “Focus on the rest.”
With that, his divine realm gate appeared behind him. A million humanoid elemental creatures stepped through, each shimmering with prismatic light. They were Chaos Spirits, and every single one of them was Lord rank.
“Chaos Spirits, deploy Chaos Prison. Lock down those Great Dragons,” Di Hong commanded.
A torrent of Chaos Energy surged forward, weaving into cages that encased the Great Dragons. No amount of thrashing broke them free.
Chaos Energy was the natural counter to all elemental energies, and those cages nullified the Great Dragons’ lightning.
With the Great Dragons neutralized, Lei Bing’s confidence soared. “Don’t worry, Lord Di Hong. I’ll make this brat understand what it means to be crushed!”
