Chapter 167: Chapter 166: A Little Game for Bestie Bonding

"No need. I’m going back to my room."

Rian Sinclair then went upstairs and left.

After washing up and lying in bed, she was just about to open Sharkstream when a notification popped up at the top of her phone screen.

"Are you asleep yet, beauty? Let’s play a game."

Rian stared at the message speechlessly. That woman, Selena Forrest, was never serious for a single day.

When she didn’t reply within a second, she was immediately bombarded with a flurry of messages from Selena.

Finally, out of respect, Rian sent a single reply.

On the other end, seeing her best friend take forever just to squeeze out a "1," Selena was genuinely exasperated.

However, upon seeing the 666-yuan red packet Rian transferred next, she decided she could hold off on being mad.

Seeing Selena’s follow-up message, Rian opened Sharkstream to watch the video she had sent.

It turned out to be a trendy "Dice Rolling Truth or Dare" game currently blowing up on Sharkstream. It did look rather interesting.

Selena had tagged both her and Sarah Forrest, challenging them to see if they dared to play.

Rian had originally wanted to refuse, but since she wasn’t sure what Sarah’s situation was, Sarah simply chimed in right away, saying she was down to play.

Then, Sarah tagged her as well.

So, Rian, who had been fully prepared to just rot in bed, was forced into joining their game.

After going over the rules, the three of them hopped onto a voice call. Selena then whipped out the dice-rolling app.

Each of them had to roll a number and send it to the group.

Selena: 6.

Sarah: 4.

Rian: 5.

They had established from the start that the person with the highest number would target the person with the lowest. Furthermore, the loser couldn’t choose between Truth or Dare—that was entirely up to the winner’s mood. Thus, Sarah ended up giving away First Blood.

Sarah pulled a long face, looking at Selena in absolute despair. Hearing Selena’s sinister "HEHEHE" snickering through the mic, Sarah knew she was doomed.

"Sarah," Selena said, smiling sweetly at her screen. "As your sister, I can’t just drive you to an early grave, right? So, let’s just go with a simple Truth.

"Just tell us one thing you’d never dare tell your parents. See how gentle I am? I treat you so well."

Sarah let out a long sigh of relief. She thought it was going to be something terrible. She immediately gave Selena a look of disdain. "No way, Selena. That’s it? That’s all you’ve got?"

Selena didn’t say much; she just smiled and urged Sarah to hurry up and speak. Seeing Selena act like this, Rian almost suspected that she was secretly calling Mr. and Mrs. Forrest.

Since they were all connected to the voice call via their computers, their phones were naturally free to use.

Selena rolled her eyes. "Don’t worry, I didn’t call Mr. and Mrs. Forrest. I just want to hear the gossip."

Sarah began her story. "Something I’d never tell my parents? It’s probably from a while back when my dad came to visit me. I was having some stomach issues at the time, so I brought the laxatives I bought from the pharmacy with me when I went to pick him up.

"My dad was having a bit of low blood sugar back then, so I bought some candies and stuffed them in my pocket. But somehow, the bottle of laxative broke, and the liquid leaked all over the inside of my jacket pocket.

"Coincidentally, before I even had the chance to say anything, my dad took my jacket and just started eating the candies. The wrappers were completely covered in laxative juice. And because of the friction in the pocket...

"The wrappers had somewhat peeled open. The most outrageous part was that my dad actually ate several of those candies in a row."

Sarah finished her story with a look of utter helplessness. After all, her dad hadn’t given her a chance to speak at all. Once he had already eaten them, she was too terrified to say a word!

Sarah’s tale instantly sent the other two into howling fits of laughter. Whatever, as long as they were having fun playing the game. As for everything else... they’d just leave it to karma.

Selena slapped her thigh. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! So you’re saying Mr. Forrest ate laxative-flavored candy?"

Rian also laughed. "Laxative-flavored candy. Mr. Forrest truly deserved it!"

Sarah felt incredibly helpless but nodded in response to them. Then, Selena thought of something and asked, "Was it an accident, or did you do it on purpose?"

"I swear it wasn’t on purpose!" Sarah threw her hands up in exasperation.

This was only met with another burst of uproarious laughter from Selena. Although Rian wasn’t chronically online like Selena, she still understood the meme of "retaining the original flavor."

Rian couldn’t help but laugh as well.

Hearing their roaring laughter, Sarah rolled her eyes in annoyance and proceeded to roll the dice again.

Once the dice stopped:

Selena: 6.

Sarah: 4.

Rian: 5.

Rian looked at her own number, then at the other two. "This feels awfully familiar."

Selena cackled wildly. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Aren’t these the exact same numbers from the last round?"

Sarah genuinely wanted to suspect that the dice hadn’t been rolled at all, but she had pressed the button herself and watched the animation roll. Rendered speechless, she had no choice but to accept her fate.

"Just say it. Truth or Dare? Let me die a clear death."

Selena’s demonic, utterly punchable laughter rang out once more. "We did a Truth last round, so naturally, we can’t neglect Dare this time around. Don’t you agree, Sarah?"

Sarah nodded numbly. Then, she heard Selena’s voice. "Since Sarah just shared the secret she wanted to hide from her parents the most, for her Dare, she has to call Mr. Forrest and tell him all about it."

Rian turned toward Selena’s camera and silently gave her a thumbs-up. Sarah stared at Selena in sheer despair, only to be met with Selena’s sly, scheming grin.

Oh, how she hated her!

Selena urged her on from the sidelines. "Hurry, hurry! Call him now. It just so happens that Ria and I haven’t heard Mr. Forrest’s voice in a long time. We can say hi to him while we’re at it."

Her fingers trembling slightly, Sarah tapped on her dad’s contact and dialed the number. The call connected after only a few seconds.

"Hello? My darling daughter, what are you calling your dear old dad for? Let me make one thing clear first: if you want money, I don’t have any. Go ask your mom. Your dad is totally broke."

Rian and Selena couldn’t hold back their snickers. Hearing them, Mr. Forrest, who had been speaking in a doting tone just a second ago, instantly morphed into a serious, domineering CEO. "Ahem. Sarah, are your roommates with you?"

Sarah couldn’t help but laugh. "No, it’s just Ria and Selena."

With that, she turned on the speakerphone, allowing the other two girls to call out sweetly, "Hello, Mr. Forrest!"

Mr. Forrest knew of Selena and Rian’s existence, so his tone softened again. "Oh, it’s Ria and Selena. Make sure you come over and visit us next time, okay? Auntie Forrest has been talking about you two for a long time."

The two girls made repeated promises to Mr. Forrest before finally backing out of the conversation. Just as Sarah was about to say something, she saw Selena mouthing the words, "Hurry up and say it."

Only then did Sarah remember her main objective. Hearing the silence on his daughter’s end, Mr. Forrest asked, "Sweetheart, why did you stop talking? Are you still there? Are you busy right now?

"If you’re busy, you really don’t need to call me. Your mom and I are doing perfectly fine at home. She goes out square dancing every day, and I tag along to play chess with the old guys."

Sarah let out an awkward cough. Looking at her friends’ faces as they desperately tried to hold back their laughter, and hearing her dad continuing to ramble on, she had no choice but to interrupt him. "Dad, there’s something I want to tell you. But let’s agree on one thing first—you can’t get mad!"
