Chapter 28: Chapter 28: A Harsh Slap in the Face for the Couple

The man in the sunglasses had a booming voice, drawing the attention of many people inside the showroom. Seeing so many eyes on them, Yara Lane was mortified.

She hurriedly turned to him. "Honey, think of something! We have to take this car home today. I already told my friends in our group chat to come over and see it. If we flake on them for no reason, how am I ever going to face them again?"

The man snatched off his sunglasses, revealing a round, greasy face. His eyes were squeezed into mere slits by the fat on his cheeks, but he still managed to glare furiously at Yara.

"It’s not just you. I promised my buddies I’d drive my new car to our drinking meetup today. If I don’t show up with it, I’ll be the laughingstock of the group!"

Yara was so frantic she was on the verge of tears. "Then what do we do? I don’t care—if we don’t get the car, you’re sleeping in the study from now on."

Her husband looked at Ms. Lawson in desperation. "Ms. Lawson, can’t you do us a favor and transfer another car over?"

Tina Lawson, however, kept her face impassive and replied coldly, "I’m sorry, but the model you want is the base version, and it’s completely sold out. We only have the fully loaded trims left.

"Furthermore, we are the largest Porsche dealership in Argent. If we don’t have it in stock, there’s no way the other branches will."

Hearing this, the man completely abandoned the idea of finding an available car at another dealership.

Tina eyed the couple coldly. She had initially thought they had the spending power, but it turned out they couldn’t even afford a car that was a couple hundred thousand more expensive—and they hadn’t even been willing to put down a deposit in the first place. Now that the car was gone, they were turning around and blaming the dealership.

Watching them hesitate, she pressed on. "You need to make a decision quickly. This is our very last unit. If you don’t take it now, you’ll have to wait three months for the next shipment. So, you’d better discuss whether you’re buying it or not."

Hearing this, the couple paced around anxiously, like cats on a hot tin roof.

Rian Sinclair watched them with amusement. She had thought they were quite arrogant earlier, but looking at them now, they were nothing more than clowns.

And then there was this saleswoman, Tina Lawson. Just moments ago, she had been greeting them with a beaming smile. But the second she realized they couldn’t afford the fully loaded trim, she revealed her true snobbish colors. She was just a car salesperson. Rian wondered where she got the audacity to throw an attitude at customers, as if she owned the dealership herself.

Hearing Rian’s soft chuckle, Yara flew into a rage and started cursing. "What are you laughing at? What right do you have to laugh at me? You’re dressed in cheap rags and carrying a fake bag! You’re a dead-broke orphan! What right do you have to mock me? So what if I can’t afford a car here? You still can’t afford one either!"

Realizing that it was highly unlikely they would get the car today, Yara directed all her pent-up frustration and humiliation at Rian.

Rian’s temper flared the moment Yara mentioned her parents. She looked at Yara and drawled, "Your mouth runs like it’s been given a heavy dose of laxatives—always spewing crap. I have to say, Yara, you could just stand on a street corner doing absolutely nothing, and you’d single-handedly drag down the class of the entire block."

Yara was practically seething. She had no idea Rian possessed such a sharp tongue. She glared at her viciously. "Rian Sinclair, this is not a place for someone like you. You’ve been looking around for so long—have you found a car you like? Do you even have the money to buy one?"

Leaning against the wall, Rian glanced at her and chuckled. "It must be pretty tough being you. It’s bad enough that your name is painfully generic, but your face is just as forgettable."

Yara, completely caught off guard by Rian’s biting retort, opened her mouth to argue back but was stopped by her husband. He raised an eyebrow and sneered at Rian, "Look who’s getting defensive."

"If a rabid dog bit you, wouldn’t you be?" Rian retorted, shifting her gaze to the man. She had thought he might put up a decent fight, but it turned out he was just a wimp.

Donovan Sinclair had been quietly observing and taking notes from the sidelines. Having only recently arrived on Blue Star, he hadn’t expected insults to be delivered with such eloquence. He looked at the couple opposite them and offered a sincere suggestion. "You two should really go out and get some sun. If your skin gets a little darker, maybe people won’t immediately realize you’re complete idiots!"

Standing next to him, Rian gave him an appreciative look. "You learn fast."

Donovan nodded with a smile. "Well, my brain definitely processes things a bit faster than those two single-celled organisms over there."

Rian couldn’t be bothered to argue with them anymore. She just wanted to buy her car and head to the university. Glancing around at the nearby sales staff, she singled out one who looked pleasant enough. "Do you have the 911 and Panamera in stock?"

Hearing this, Yara couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "Her? Buying a 911 and a Panamera? Did I hear that right?"

Her husband let out a scoff, equally unconvinced that this orphaned woman could afford a car. "You heard right, she said she wants to buy them. Who knows if she actually has the money for it. But hey, even if she doesn’t, maybe she’ll just find some willing sugar daddy to buy them for her."

Their voices were starting to seriously annoy Rian. Some people really just begged to be put in their place. She wondered how they could be so absolutely certain that she was broke.

Yara chimed in, "Ms. Lawson, make sure your colleagues don’t get scammed! This woman is just a broke loser trying to save face. We went to high school together, don’t you think I’d know? Even the bag she’s carrying is a fake. What else about her could possibly be real?"

Listening to Yara, Tina sized Rian up once more. Although the girl was pretty and carried herself with a bit of elegance, it was highly likely she was just a fake socialite. Besides, her outfit certainly didn’t scream ’wealthy’—after all, this was Argent, not Cantoria where the ultra-rich casually dressed like regular people.

And then there was the pretty boy next to her. Though he was wearing a suit, it wasn’t a brand she recognized. She had even sneakily snapped a photo of it earlier and sent it to a friend, who confirmed it wasn’t bespoke. That meant he was just wearing some cheap knockoff.

Donovan was bewildered. He wondered how a cutting-edge interstellar suit could possibly be mistaken for a cheap knockoff.

"Miss, this is a place of business. Please stop putting on airs here, or I’ll be forced to call security," Tina said, her face filled with disgust and disdain as she gestured toward the exit.

Rian ignored her and walked straight toward the salesperson she had called over earlier, handing over her bank card. "Swipe it. I’m paying in full."

The salesperson was a new hire. Although she wasn’t entirely sure what all the drama was about, a massive commission had just practically fallen into her lap. She would gladly take the free win!

After swiping the card successfully, the new salesperson’s smile grew even wider. "Miss, let’s step right this way to sign the purchase contracts."

Rian nodded. She was just about to follow her when another shrill shriek echoed through the room.

"What?! What do you mean, sign the contracts?! You’re telling me her card actually went through for over ten million?!"

The new salesperson frowned slightly at the screeching, but since Yara was still technically a customer, she maintained a polite smile and explained, "Yes, Miss. This lady has purchased a 911 and a Panamera for a total of 13.6 million, paid in full."

Rian had absolutely zero desire to exchange another word with that woman, so she simply turned and walked toward the VIP lounge.

Behind her, Tina shot a resentful glare at Yara. It was because of this woman’s baseless claims that she had just driven away a massive VIP client! Of course, Tina didn’t feel she was in the wrong at all.

Yara and her husband stood there, utterly dumbfounded. Yara was especially in shock; she was genuinely appalled that Rian could afford both cars. Her entire worldview had just crumbled to dust.

Wasn’t she an orphan? Where on earth did she get that kind of money?!

She told herself it was impossible. Rian must have a sugar daddy. She just had to!

At the thought, a flash of deep envy flickered in Yara’s eyes, quickly consumed by a dark, seething resentment. Why could Rian’s sugar daddy afford to give her so much money, while her own husband was nothing but a boastful, pot-bellied, greasy loser?!

She hated it!
