Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Curing Flare of His Internet Addiction

After signing the contract and confirming the car’s delivery address, Rian Sinclair left the dealership with Donovan Sinclair.

Upon exiting, they didn’t see Yara Lane or her husband. Instead, they spotted the saleswoman, Tina Lawson, looking at her with trepidation.

Rian smiled but said nothing. She tapped on her phone and walked out of the store.

Donovan walked dutifully beside her. Rian checked the time. "You head back first and get started on the foundation’s work. Make sure the information is accurate, just like we discussed. Make a list of the foundation’s capital injections for me later. I want to see exactly where the money is being distributed."

Hearing Donovan’s agreement, Rian drove off.

At the gates of Argent University.

Since Rian had registered online with the guards in advance, they let her through without stopping her. She drove her supercar into the campus parking lot. There weren’t many people around, as most students were still in class. After parking, Rian checked her classroom assignment on her phone and slowly made her way over.

Along the way, she drew quite a few stares. Argent University had a fair share of beautiful girls, but whenever one appeared, she naturally attracted attention. As a result, Rian sparked murmurs and discussions, all of which she completely ignored. By then, the first class had ended, and students were bustling around the campus and academic buildings.

Rian entered her classroom, took a face mask from her bag, put it on, and sat down in the very last row. In the past, because she worked night shifts, Rian spent most of her daytime classes catching up on sleep in the back row. Since her grades were good and she never failed a course, she rarely even brought her textbooks.

True to form, she had forgotten her books today as well.

As class time approached, the room gradually filled up. The lecture hall seated four hundred, but with seven classes attending together, the number of students far exceeded that capacity. Many students had to fetch chairs from empty classrooms and squeeze into the open spaces at the back.

The empty seats around Rian were quickly taken. To her left was a group of girls, likely roommates, and to her right sat a group of boys. Both sides chattered away in their own conversations, launching a dual-audio assault on Rian’s ears.

The seating arrangement had twelve columns on the left and thirteen on the right, with sixteen rows per column. Rian sat in the middle of the twelfth column, right by the window.

With class yet to begin and the room buzzing with noise, Rian took out her Bluetooth earbuds, put them in, and opened Sharkstream.

As soon as the app launched, she saw a "99+" notification badge. Being a bit of a perfectionist, she absolutely had to eliminate the little red dots. Figuring she had nothing better to do, she tapped through the messages one by one. They were either from streamers begging her to visit their channels and tip, or from fans asking for money or sugar-mommy arrangements.

Not long after, the bell rang. Rian used her phone to check in on the class attendance app.

Although this was a practical application course, the professor still covered some theory before sending the students off-campus for financial fieldwork and requiring a summary report. In the past, Rian would head straight to her part-time jobs after the lecture. As for the summary? That was a piece of cake!

Her part-time gigs had covered a vast array of professions. Drawing on her extensive work experience to write the practical summaries meant she could breeze through them effortlessly.

Sitting in her seat without a textbook, Rian listened to the professor’s theoretical lecture and felt as though she instantly grasped everything!

Was this the benefit of her boosted IQ? She couldn’t help but be amazed.

It felt as if increasing her IQ was like unlocking a secondary development phase for her brain. All related knowledge automatically categorized itself. Furthermore, as she listened to the professor, her mind raced for a fraction of a second, instantly generating numerous related concepts and similar case studies. She could seamlessly draw inferences from a single instance.

After listening for a short while and deciding it was no longer useful to her, Rian’s mind began to wander.

A large portion of the students sitting in the back simply didn’t want to pay attention. So, as the professor lectured at the front, the back rows busied themselves with their own entertainment.

Because the seats were packed so closely together, Rian caught sight of her left out of the corner of her eye—the girls were either binge-watching TV shows or scrolling through beauty vloggers. Glancing to her right, the boys were either playing games, watching the NBA, or playing cards.

Ah, the true college student experience.

What else could Rian do? Join them, of course. Otherwise, her college life wouldn’t be complete.

Keeping her Bluetooth earbuds connected, she immediately booted up Timi. Honor of Kings and lectures were simply a match made in heaven!

She had played a few rounds with Miro previously, but since she hadn’t played much, her rank was still at Platinum.

However, Rian didn’t really like having to carry the team. She had asked Miro, but he seemed to be out having fun, so she dropped the idea of inviting him to play and embarked on a solo queue journey instead. After all, the famous saying "Carry in solo queue, get carried in multi-queue" was etched deeply in her heart.

The game began.

Entering the selection screen, since she hadn’t reached Diamond rank yet, she could pick any hero freely. For solo queue, if one wanted to end the game quickly, the top choice was naturally the Jungler!

Which Jungler could set the pace quickly and absolutely dominate? Naturally, it was the beautiful and commanding Luna!

The Moonlight Infinite Chain! Wouldn’t this absolutely wreck a Platinum lobby?

Channeling twenty years of single-life hand speed, Rian instantly locked in Luna. She equipped the Fairy of the Violet Sunset skin, which had the best feel, and quietly waited for the match to start.

But then she saw consecutive question marks popping up from her teammates. Player Three typed: "Bro, do you even know how to play Luna to insta-lock her? You’re not going to feed, are you?"

Player Four quickly followed up: "Player One, don’t you know that out of ten Lunas, nine are trash, and the last one is a cosmic disaster?"

Player Five typed: "Come on, guys, let’s just play. Maybe Player One actually knows what they’re doing!"

Player Three replied: "You guys don’t understand. I’m on a ten-game losing streak. One more and it’ll be eleven. After all these losses, the game is even mocking me for being single!"

Player Two chimed in: "Don’t panic, bro. Watch me this round. I’ll carry you so the game stops laughing at you for being a single dog!"

Seeing that her teammates were a bunch of clowns, Rian couldn’t help but type: "Lie back, boys. I’ll carry you!"

Immediately after, they entered the loading screen.

Allied Team: Luna, Hawken, Angela, Arthur, Yo-yo.

Enemy Team: Flare, Lady Sunfire, Joyce, Torvin, Bruno Benson.

Rian controlled her character. Thanks to the King’s Top Operation skill she had acquired earlier, she had memorized every minuscule detail in the game: the respawn timers for the Red and Blue Buffs, the Tyrant, and The Overlord; the skill durations of the Tyrant and The Overlord; and the exact spawn intervals of the minions.

She piloted Luna. In this low-tier match, the enemy team had no intention of invading her jungle. They probably assumed that a Luna at this rank was just someone practicing the hero.

As a result, once Rian’s Luna reached level four, she took off. Using minions, jungle monsters, and enemy heroes as springboards, she dominated effortlessly amidst the crowd.

Her combos were so buttery smooth that her fingers became a blur across her phone screen.

The enemy team was beaten into miserable complaints, while her teammates frantically spammed "666" in the chat.

[Yo-yo]: "Luna is so cool! Duo queue next round, Luna?"

[Arthur]: "****, Moonlight Infinite Chain x9! A living Luna who never drops her ultimate!"

[Torvin]: "The enemy Luna is a smurf! I’m losing my **** mind!"

[Flare]: "******** Luna you *********"

[System]: "Detected verbal abuse from player ’Don’t Troll Me’. A warning has been issued to the player."

[Joyce]: "Hahahahahaha, Flare got muted, I’m dying of laughter!"

Rian saw that Flare had the audacity to curse. Well, then she would naturally target him! From that moment on, the enemy Flare lost all ability to actually play the game.

[Lady Sunfire]: "Flare just went AFK. The enemy Luna is insanely strong, she bullied Flare into depression."

[Bruno Benson]: "Look at me, Luna sis! Duo queue with me, I play whatever support you need!"

[Yo-yo]: "Don’t fight me for her! This is MY jungler!"

[Arthur]: "66666666666"
