Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Helping the Police

Rian Sinclair looked at Officer Forrest. "Can I see them?"

Officer Forrest frowned and remained silent. Rian quickly added, "I know this is presumptuous, but if we’re going to put on an act, it needs to be realistic. I can provide the clothes and vehicles for free."

Rian had already thought this through when she found out they were going to impersonate her. The people in North Boro were no fools. Considering she had tipped over a billion on Sharkstream, her travel arrangements naturally couldn’t be low-key.

Moreover, judging from the video she saw, time was tight. They simply didn’t have the time to submit reports and wait for approval for such large sums of money. But she could provide all these things.

Her words struck right at the heart of the matter. This was exactly what they had been worrying about from the start, which was why they had invited Rian over, intending to borrow her account and rent the other necessary items.

He hadn’t expected Miss Sinclair to be so generous. However, he couldn’t accept on his own authority. "Miss Sinclair, please wait a moment. I need to report this to my superiors."

Rian nodded, and Officer Forrest left the lounge.

Not long after, a man in a military uniform entered the room, accompanied by Officer Forrest.

Rian looked up at the leading man. He had a towering figure and a bronzed complexion. His facial features were sharply defined and profound. Dressed in his military uniform, he exuded a sense of authority and masculinity that inspired immediate awe.

[DING! A high-quality handsome man has been detected. His appearance score is 91. He meets the criteria for the ten-times spending cashback!]

"Hello, Miss Sinclair. My name is Wyatt Shepherd. I’m the person in charge of this operation, and I’ll be coordinating with you from now on."

Another Shepherd?

The man was mature and steady. Rian pushed the thought to the back of her mind. There were plenty of people with the last name Shepherd; it didn’t mean they were all related.

"Miss Sinclair, after hearing from Officer Forrest, I want to express my utmost respect for your selfless assistance. We have five hours before our people arrive at the location. We will do our best to cooperate."

Rian checked the time. Five hours. It was more than enough.

She had zero interest in their specific arrangements as long as the outcome was good. Although she found it slightly suspicious that the other party had so hastily proposed a meeting, the police had surely considered everything she had. The people in North Boro weren’t stupid; they definitely had a contingency plan in place in case the police caught wind of things.

It seemed this meeting would likely be full of twists and turns. Both sides were cautious, and there would undoubtedly be many complications. She only hoped that the task force would return safely, and that Cody would be safe too.

At exactly nine o’clock, Rian handed the keys to a sports car worth over a hundred million to Wyatt, who was now dressed in a bespoke designer suit. Behind him stood several others, all operatives for this mission.

Wyatt took the car keys. "Thank you."

"Make sure you come back safely."

They were the ones always carrying the burden for others, using their very bodies to hold up the sky so that the country could enjoy peace and prosperity. She felt incredibly proud to do something small to help them.

Wyatt led his team away. Rian watched their retreating backs, knowing this trip would be far from easy. She just hoped they would all be safe on their journey.

Officer Forrest wasn’t a participant in this operation. Rian could tell that Wyatt and his team exuded a battle-hardened aura; they were likely Special Forces or something similar. The fact that they had taken over the mission proved that this operation was no walk in the park.

Standing nearby, Officer Forrest said sincerely, "Miss Sinclair, thank you very much for your help with this mission."

Rian smiled and shook her head. "What will happen to the livestream channel after this? Will you ban it?"

Officer Forrest shook his head. "If this operation is successful, they will change the streamer for the channel, most likely to one of their own people. However, because of your tips, that account has become famous on Sharkstream. They won’t abandon it. We’ve already communicated with Sharkstream’s administration, and the channel won’t be banned.

"We also plan to continue using the channel to monitor their actions and intentions. We can even preemptively warn people who are about to be scammed. It’s actually much easier to handle when it’s out in the public eye."

Hearing this, Rian understood. After all, in this world, as long as something was exposed to the public, there would always be enthusiastic, helpful people. It was much easier to take action in the light than in the dark.

"Miss Sinclair, if the streamer is replaced, you won’t need to send tips in the channel anymore. You can drop by the stream occasionally to create some hype, but there’s no need to tip. The other party will definitely use some sweet talk to try and keep you there and make you spend money. If they private message you, contact us immediately."

Rian nodded. "I’ll cooperate fully on my end."

Upon returning to the villa, Ethan Sinclair was still waiting downstairs.

"Miss, have you eaten?" Ethan asked, taking the items from Rian’s hands.

"Has Ash gone back to school?" Rian asked.

Ethan shook his head. "The young master saw that you hadn’t returned so late, so he said he’d leave early tomorrow morning instead."

Rian looked up at Ash’s room and rubbed her temples. "I had dinner outside. I’ll go upstairs to check on him. You should get some sleep early too."

With that, she headed upstairs.

When she reached Ash’s door, a faint sliver of light spilled out from the crack. She raised her hand and knocked. "Ash, are you asleep?"

A moment later, the door opened. Rian looked past Ash and saw that his desk lamp was still on. "Go to sleep early. It’s late, and you have to leave early tomorrow morning. Hurry up and get some rest."

Ash rubbed the back of his head and smiled. "Hey sis, did you just get back? Have you eaten? I’m just going to study a bit more and then I’ll sleep. You should rest early."

Rian sighed helplessly, figuring that this kid was probably just like this at school too. "Remember to strike a balance between work and rest."

Ash nodded. Rian was just about to turn and leave when she suddenly thought of something. "Do you have any problems you don’t know how to solve?"

Back when they were renting an apartment outside, Rian only had time to look after Ash at night after returning from a busy day. She usually tutored him with his homework in the evenings, and Ash would gather all the questions he didn’t understand and ask her all at once.

This scene felt just like old times. Ash’s eyes lit up slightly. "There are a few questions I don’t get."

Rian leaned against the desk while Ash sat in his seat, working through his practice questions. She then focused her gaze on the problem. "For this derivative question, move the x-squared over. So it becomes e to the power of x plus two times the natural log of x, minus one, which is greater than or equal to it. So, what is the range of ’a’?"

Ash was quick to follow along, though not quite as fast as Rian. After running the calculation in his head, he answered, "Less than or equal to 1."

Rian waited by his side. Upon hearing his answer, she nodded. "Any more?"

Ash quickly pointed out another. Rian glanced at the question. She usually skipped the first sub-question and went straight to explaining the second one. Her fingertip tapped the proof function. "Is this tangent line scaling?"

Ash nodded, and Rian continued, "Except you don’t use a straight line here. The previous conditions provided it. Just use the checkmark function."

Rian only taught the reasoning, not the step-by-step content, so she waited beside him while he finished it. Once he was done, Ash pointed to the next question. Rian took one look and said directly, "At first glance, this is the ALG inequality."

She then noticed that the following two questions were also circled. "For this one, e to the power of x is greater than or equal to x plus 1, and then the natural log of x is less than or equal to x minus 1. The answer will come right out. The next question is about concavity reversal."

After listening to the methods, Ash calmed his mind and started solving the problems. Rian stayed by his side, watching over him to prevent any mistakes.
