Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Heading to West End Cromwell Avenue

Rian Sinclair nodded and pointed at the group of people behind Venus. They were all the nannies, chefs, and drivers Quentin had hired. "Make the arrangements for these people."

Having just clocked in, Venus immediately sprang into action. He took his job very seriously—after all, it would determine whether he got a raise in the future.

A few minutes later, Venus stood before Rian again. Rian had overheard him delegating tasks. His efficiency was commendable, and his management skills were quite good.

"It is currently eleven-fifty Meridia time. Would you like to have your meal now, Master?" As a qualified butler, he naturally kept a close eye on the time.

Only then did Rian feel a bit hungry. The last time she had eaten on the plane was in the early hours of the morning. "You arrange it."

Hearing this, Venus immediately headed to the kitchen. He had already gleaned about thirty percent of his boss’s preferences from the job listing. The remaining seventy percent would rely on future observation. His boss loved Veridian cuisine, so she had hired a Veridian chef.

The information also mentioned that she was a Basilian from Veridia. Basilians loved spicy food, but since she had just arrived in Meridia, he worried she might have trouble acclimatizing. Thus, he instructed the kitchen to prepare something mildly spicy and refreshing.

Rian sat at the dining table. She initially didn’t have much of an appetite, but after taking a bite, she found the food quite suited to her taste.

Venus observed his master from the sidelines. Noting the dwindling amount of food on her plate, he jotted down in his little notebook what kind of meals should be prepared when she had a poor appetite.

After lunch, Rian sat on the sofa. Quentin Sinclair sat nearby, his hands moving non-stop as he communicated with the other party on the dark web to finalize the transaction location.

"Miss, the transaction location is confirmed. It’s on West End Cromwell Avenue." Quentin turned the laptop around and pushed it toward Rian.

Looking at the location pin sent on the screen, Rian set down her teacup. "This is the political and commercial district."

Quentin nodded. "The location is indeed right in the center of the political and business district. The other party must hold significant power and have ties to the local government. This arms dealer is very dangerous."

Quentin looked at her, waiting for her decision. Rian leaned back lazily against the sofa. "We’re just buying some things, not picking a fight."

Understanding her intentions, Quentin said no more. Rian rested against the sofa and closed her eyes to rest.

Venus’s soft voice soon sounded near her ear. "Is the master asleep?"

Quentin gave a soft hum of affirmation. However, Rian wasn’t actually asleep. Hearing this, she sat up. "What is it?"

Venus bowed with an apologetic expression. "I’m so sorry, Master. I didn’t mean to disturb your rest."

Rian shook her head. Seeing that Venus was holding something in his hands, she pointed and asked, "What is this?"

Venus carefully observed her expression. Seeing no signs of displeasure, he sighed in relief and offered the item in his hands. "Master, this is a Veridian delicacy I had the kitchen prepare."

Rian looked at the food in front of her and smiled. "How do you know about ice jelly?"

Indeed, the dish before her was none other than ice jelly—an absolute must-have for the summer! Rian was quite fond of it, considering it one of her essential cold treats. However, she found it strange that Venus would know about this. After all, she hadn’t seemingly shown any preference for it before.

Venus said respectfully, "Master, this dish was just a guess on my part. I saw someone selling this in Chinatown, and many Veridians and locals were rushing to buy it, so I figured you might like it too."

Rian didn’t say anything more. Looking at the assorted fruits in the bowl, she scooped up a spoonful and ate it. The chilled watermelon was an excellent thirst-quencher for the sweltering summer. Looking at the bowl in front of her, it was practically a premium version of ice jelly.

She then took a bite of the jelly itself, savoring it slowly. It must have been hand-rubbed, as the texture was different from what she had eaten before, yet this one tasted even better.

A look of delight crossed Rian’s face; she never let good food go to waste. Venus stood by with a bright smile. Seeing his master enjoy the dish was the greatest validation of his work!

Once she finished enjoying her treat, Venus immediately handed her a tissue and a warm towel. Rian took the tissue to wipe her mouth, then used the warm towel to clean her hands.

She stood up and looked at Venus. "Good job. I’ll give you a bonus for this."

With that, she left the dining room. Left alone, Venus nearly shrieked like a wild monkey in excitement.

Come on! A boss who threw money at her employees at the drop of a hat was simply too awesome! Venus made a firm decision: he was going to cling to this golden goose for dear life!

Rian turned her head. Quentin was still typing away on his laptop. "How is it?"

Quentin nodded and shut down the computer. "We can leave right now."

Watching Quentin put the laptop away, Rian asked, "It’s done?"

Quentin gave a slight nod. "The Mercenary Corps still has some weapons available. They’ve dispatched Violet, Gabe, and Ghost. Aiden Sinclair, Ethan Sinclair, and Ben Sinclair will follow along as well."

Rian nodded slowly. "Let’s head out. I want to see exactly what kind of background this arms dealer has."

Her eyes darkened with intrigue. She was quite curious about an arms dealer who could orchestrate a transaction on West End Cromwell Avenue. After all, what kind of status must someone possess to arrange a dangerous arms deal on a street teeming with politicians and business tycoons?

Once everything was packed, the group left the manor. Rian walked in the middle, preceded by the three from The Mercenary Corps. Quentin stayed by her side, followed by the bodyguards they had brought along.

Rian wore a pair of sunglasses on her small face, concealing most of her features. She didn’t wear a veil for this trip, as they were heading to Crestwood Avenue in the city center rather than the dusty, sand-filled outskirts.

Three cars had been arranged. The members of The Mercenary Corps took the first car. Rian, Quentin, and Aiden Sinclair rode in the second, while the rest occupied the final vehicle.

The three SUVs drove along the road. As they left the manor and headed further into the city, the surroundings grew increasingly crowded and bustling with people. Some pedestrians kept their heads down and walked briskly, likely office workers on their commute. Others strolled leisurely, listening to music and enjoying the morning tranquility.

The vehicles eventually came to a halt. Rian stepped out of the car, entirely surrounded by towering skyscrapers.

Shortly after they parked, a short man with a noticeable limp approached them. He had a sinister expression. After scanning the group, his gaze locked directly onto Quentin.

Quentin exchanged a few words with him. Upon seeing a hand signal, the group followed the limping man, eventually arriving at a small door. This building stood in stark contrast to the gleaming skyscrapers next to it. The limping man opened the door and stepped aside to clear a path.

Rian merely glanced at the man before walking straight inside. The others followed closely behind, carrying their briefcases.

Inside, the lighting was exceptionally dim, barely revealing a deep, narrow corridor. She didn’t know how long they had been walking through the gloomy hallway, making countless turns and taking elevators up and down.

Rian frowned in silence, her face full of irritation. She was only here to buy something, not to go on a hiking expedition. Impatience radiated from her entire being.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar male voice rang out. "Friends, we have arrived."

Following that, a large set of doors opened, emitting a blinding light from within. Having spent so long in the dark, the group collectively frowned and shielded their eyes from the glare. Rian only heard the sound of footsteps passing by her and entering the room. The rhythm was uneven—one heavy step, one light step. It was the limping man who had led the way.
