Chapter 808. Borrowing the Sword
Chapter 808: 808. Borrowing the Sword
"W-what exactly do you want?"
The ancient sword trembled slightly in Chu Yang’s hand. Although it was merely a sword, its voice contained an obvious trace of nervousness.
Tyler raised an eyebrow.
"You’re quite nervous for a sword."
"I don’t know why," the sword replied honestly. "But my instincts are warning me that something is wrong. Ever since we entered this room, I’ve had an extremely bad feeling."
Tyler rubbed his chin and looked at the ancient sword with interest. He had already noticed that the sword was different from ordinary artifacts. It possessed its own consciousness, and that alone made it quite valuable. However, there was another matter that made Tyler even more curious.
"Could it be because of my copper pot’s ability?" He lowered his voice and muttered to himself.
Tyler’s eyes narrowed slightly as he thought about it.
Until now, whenever he had used the copper pot to copy objects, he had never received any reaction from the copies. That was understandable when it came to ordinary objects. But this sword was different. It had a consciousness, perhaps even a soul.
"If the copper pot can copy artifacts with consciousness..." Tyler thought, his eyes shining with excitement. "How awesome would that be?"
Unfortunately, reality was different.
The copper pot simply could not copy souls. When Tyler had copied a portable Grotto Heaven, all the living creatures inside had been copied as well, but they were nothing more than empty bodies without souls.
Even when he copied himself, the result was merely an exact copy of his body, completely devoid of consciousness.
In short, no matter what he copied, as long as it possessed a soul, the copper pot could only reproduce the body.
A corpse.
That was all it could create.
After all, every object he had copied until now had been nothing more than an ordinary object or artifact. None of them had possessed a true consciousness capable of speaking or thinking.
Tyler’s gaze finally settled on it.
"Can I borrow this sword?"
The sword immediately became silent.
Chu Yang’s expression also changed.
Then the sword spoke.
"As expected... you’re after my body."
Tyler’s mouth twitched.
Suzuka, who was standing nearby, immediately turned her face away. Her shoulders trembled slightly as she struggled to suppress her laughter.
Tyler sighed.
"Mind your phrasing."
He looked at the ancient sword helplessly.
"I simply want to examine your abilities. I don’t particularly want the sword itself."
Both Chu Yang and the sword stared at him in disbelief.
After a moment, Chu Yang frowned.
"Do you really think I’ll believe that?"
Tyler smiled.
"I mean, if I actually wanted the sword, you’d already be dead."
The atmosphere in the room instantly became quiet.
Chu Yang’s expression stiffened.
The ancient sword also fell silent for a moment.
Tyler pointed casually toward Suzuka.
"She was already behind you before you realized what was happening. If I wanted to take your sword by force, do you think you would still be standing here talking to me?"
The ancient sword seemed to recall what had happened earlier.
It could clearly sense the killing intent surrounding Suzuka. Moreover, as an artifact with considerable experience, it could tell from the way her hand rested near the sword at her waist that she had been ready to draw at any moment.
The ancient sword sighed.
"He’s right."
Chu Yang’s expression became ugly.
The sword continued, "That woman had already locked onto your neck when you entered this room. She was merely waiting for his command."
Chu Yang’s grip tightened around the sword.
After a long silence, Tyler spoke again.
"I only want to borrow it for a few days. Once I’m finished examining it, I’ll return it to you. I’ll even arrange a safe way for you to leave the city."
The sword remained silent. It seemed to be weighing Tyler’s words. Finally, it spoke.
"Just give me to him."
Chu Yang’s eyes widened.
"What?"
"He could have taken it by force, but he didn’t. Moreover, I don’t sense any greed in his eyes." The sword’s voice became serious. "It’s a good bargain. We get to keep our lives, and he gets to examine me for a few days. I don’t see any reason to refuse."
Chu Yang hesitated.
He clearly didn’t like the idea, but he also understood that the situation was not in his favor.
After a moment, he sighed and handed the ancient sword over to Tyler.
Tyler accepted it with a smile.
"Thank you."
He carefully examined the sword for a moment before placing it beside himself.
"You can stay here for the next few days. There’s a room on the ground floor. You can eat whatever you want, and if you’re interested in any of the girls here, you can choose one."
Tyler paused and glanced at Suzuka.
"Of course, these two are off-limits."
His gaze shifted toward Hazel.
The girl stood silently beside him, her expression completely blank. She did not say a single word or show the slightest reaction.
Tyler then turned around and walked away while carrying the sword.
Hazel immediately followed behind him without making a sound, moving like a lifeless doll that had simply been given a command.
The ancient sword spat the words before it left, "Lucky bastard."
Chu Yang’s face instantly turned red, "I-I don’t want anything like that!"
"Oh?" Suzuka glanced at him. "Well, I don’t care." She turned around and walked toward the door. "Just leave when you’re ready."
Chu Yang stood there awkwardly for a moment before following her out of the room.
Before leaving, Suzuka gave some instructions to the madam of the brothel, telling her to prepare a room and take proper care of Chu Yang.
Only after making sure everything had been arranged did she return upstairs.
However, when she arrived, Tyler was nowhere to be seen.
Suzuka looked around the empty room.
A moment later, space fluctuated behind her.
Hazel suddenly appeared.
There was no sound, no warning, and no expression on her face. She simply stood there quietly, as though she had never left.
Suzuka looked at her.
"Did you drop him at the White Dragon Tower?"
Hazel gave a small nod.
That was all.
Suzuka nodded in satisfaction.
"Good."
She then looked toward the room where Tyler had disappeared.
"Then... We can only wait here." She said.
