The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 435: The Wager

  • Next Chapter

The Huangmaos who had been arguing with Feng Qingwan at the door were huddled around a poker table, playing a classic game of Texas Hold’em. Seeing Feng Qingwan and Chen Erbao approach, they exchanged glances and broke into knowing smiles.

“Feng Qingwan, if you lose again this time, just sleep with me for a night. I’ll even give back all the money I won from you before. How about it?”

The green-haired guy said with a sleazy grin.

He seemed obsessed with sleeping with Feng Qingwan; he had said the same thing at the door just now.

As expected, Feng Qingwan wasn’t one to take things lying down. She retorted sharply:

“In your dreams! Go home and sleep with your mom!”

“Heh, heh. You’re such a tomboy. Who would dare marry you in the future?”

The green-haired guy laughed out loud, not at all angry. He tossed his chips onto the table and gestured toward Feng Qingwan.

“Care to play a round?”

Feng Qingwan hesitated.

It was true she liked watching fights, but she wasn’t particularly interested in poker.

But with so many eyes on her, she felt that if she didn’t agree, it would look like she was afraid of him.

Feng Qingwan gritted her teeth, took out her hundred thousand in chips, and slammed them on the table with a CLACK.

“How are we playing?”

The green-haired guy was Bai Hong, the second young master of Binhai’s Bai Family, and an infamous local playboy.

He didn’t even glance at the hundred thousand in chips Feng Qingwan had produced, just sneered:

“A hundred thousand? You have the nerve to put that out, you little wench? Did you lose too badly the last few times and run out of money? If you’re broke, just say the word. I’ll lend you some.”

A faint blush crept up Feng Qingwan’s fair face as she glared at Bai Hong.

“Are you playing or not!”

Bai Hong shrugged. “A hundred thousand is too little. It’s like we’re kids playing house. I’m not playing for that. If you’re broke, then hurry up and go home. Don’t embarrass yourself here. Or, you could just pick one of us to sleep with. That’s one way to get a million or two to play with!”

He just had to bring up sleeping with someone every other sentence.

Feng Qingwan was furious, but she really was out of cash and didn’t want to get into a shouting match with these people. She turned to leave.

Seeing her about to leave, Bai Hong grew anxious.

“Don’t be so hasty! If you don’t have money, how about we change the stakes?”

When Feng Qingwan stopped, Bai Hong shot a look at the people around him, then spoke with a grin.

“I’m not kidding around. If you lose, you have to take off your jacket and watch the matches in a bikini tonight. How about it?”

He didn’t mention sleeping with her, probably knowing it was impossible.

Feng Qingwan hesitated.

“And if you lose?”

“If I lose, I’ll do the same, of course.”

“You wish!”

Feng Qingwan sneered.

‘What’s the appeal of seeing him in a bikini? How can that even be considered a stake?’

Bai Hong thought for a moment, then said seriously:

“How about this? If I lose, I’ll bark like a dog three times in front of everyone. How’s that?”

Those were some seriously high stakes.

As a scion of his family, if he really barked like a dog, his elders would probably skin him alive when he got home.

The same went for Feng Qingwan. If she wore a bikini in public, the Feng Family would become a laughingstock.

Seeing that Feng Qingwan seemed tempted to agree, Chen Erbao reminded her in a low voice:

“Didn’t you say you always lose to them? You still dare to play?”

‘This girl really has a screw loose,’ he thought. ‘She keeps losing but never learns her lesson. It’s obvious these guys are setting a trap for her.’

Feng Qingwan shot Chen Erbao a glare.

“That’s exactly why I need to win it all back! Besides, you’re here. If it comes down to it, I can just refuse to honor the bet. You think they’d dare force my hand?”

“…”

Chen Erbao was left speechless. He sat down to the side, waiting to watch the show.

Bai Hong cleared the chips from the table, then found a dealer to shuffle the cards. He sat down opposite Feng Qingwan and also took out a hundred thousand in chips.

“Let’s stick to this hundred thousand. Once it’s gone, you’ve lost for good. Minimum bet is ten thousand.”

Feng Wanqing nodded in agreement.

The dealer glanced at them both, then announced the start.

“SHUFFLE, SHUFFLE…”

The cards flew through the dealer’s hands, were quickly shuffled, and then dealt to the two players.

Bai Hong’s cronies stood to the side, grinning as they watched the spectacle.

In the distance, other rich kids from Binhai had heard the news and gathered to watch the show.

For them, it didn’t matter which outcome they saw—the second young master of the Bai Family barking like a dog, or the little vixen from the Feng Family wearing a bikini. Either one would be a hell of a show, so there was no losing.

They were each dealt two cards, and five more were placed face down on the table.

Feng Wanqing peeked at her cards, then closed them with a poker face and looked at Bai Hong.

Bai Hong didn’t even look at his cards and said directly:

“Ten thousand. Flip the first card.”

“Call.”

Feng Qingwan called without hesitation.

The dealer flipped the first card: the Five of Hearts.

Both players remained expressionless. Bai Hong bet another ten thousand to see the second card.

Feng Qingwan called.

Soon, they were on the third card, and the total bet had reached forty thousand. Chen Erbao glanced at Feng Qingwan’s cards and saw that her luck seemed pretty good today. Her hand, combined with the community cards, made two pair.

Generally speaking, with two pair, you were in a pretty solid position.

After all, with only two people playing, the probability of a great hand was low.

Although Chen Erbao hadn’t used his Divine Sense to peek at Bai Hong’s cards, he had been watching the dealer and Bai Hong’s movements the whole time. He found it strange that they weren’t cheating.

Judging by his appearance and the way he talked, Bai Hong didn’t seem like an honest guy. Goading Feng Qingwan into this bet looked exactly like he was setting a trap for her.

‘I can’t believe he’s actually playing it straight.’

With the bet at forty thousand, Feng Qingwan hesitated slightly, but having two pair in her hand gave her a good deal of confidence.

When it was time for the fourth card, a flicker of hesitation crossed Bai Hong’s face, and he checked.

Feng Qingwan’s heart leaped with joy.

“Sixty thousand! Flip the fourth card!”

She only had one hundred thousand to begin with, and now her bet was up to sixty thousand. It seemed this match would be over soon.

A murmur went through the crowd of onlookers as they waited to see how Bai Hong would respond.

Bai Hong stared at Feng Qingwan for a couple of seconds, then casually tossed his cards.

“I fold. The forty thousand is yours.”

“Yay! Chen Haonan, I won!”

Forty thousand in chips were pushed in front of Feng Qingwan. Her face flushed with excitement, and she subconsciously grabbed Chen Erbao’s arm and shook it a couple of times.

Her ample breasts, nearly bursting out of her tight-fitting T-shirt, pressed against Chen Erbao’s arm, making his head spin.

Feng Qingwan quickly realized her actions were a bit inappropriate. She let go of his arm, embarrassed, and collected her chips. Then, she turned to Bai Hong and taunted him smugly:

“Bai Hong, is that all you’ve got? Weren’t you bragging about being some kind of casino master?”

Bai Hong seemed completely unfazed, his expression relaxed.

“What’s the rush? I’ve still got sixty thousand. This is just getting started.”

“Hmph, hmph…”

Feng Qingwan eagerly urged the dealer to deal the next hand. Winning the first round made her feel like she was on a roll.

Watching the dealer deal the cards, a sharp glint flashed in Chen Erbao’s eyes, and a smile crept onto his lips.

‘Just as I thought,’ he mused. ‘This Bai Hong guy didn’t seem like the honest type. No way he would play a straight game.’
