The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 436: Cheating

  • Next Chapter

The dealer’s sleight of hand was incredibly subtle and masterful. If Chen Erbao hadn’t been watching him with his Divine Sense focused intently, even he might not have noticed.

As for Feng Qingwan, she had no chance of noticing.

After the first two cards were dealt, Feng Qingwan eagerly flipped hers over. Seeing two hearts, she shifted in her seat, a flicker of excitement quickly vanishing from her face.

Across from her, Bai Hong remained expressionless as he raised the bet to reveal the first community card.

Chen Erbao had a good idea of what the kid was up to. ‘He deliberately dealt her two hearts to lure her into going all in.’

Sure enough, the first three community cards were all hearts, and the pot had already grown to fifty thousand. Unable to hide her excitement, Feng Qingwan raised another ten thousand to see the fourth card.

“That’s sixty thousand. You’re out of money, Bai Hong.”

Feng Qingwan felt her moment of triumph was at hand. The thought of hearing Bai Hong bark like a dog was more exciting to her than New Year’s Day.

Bai Hong sneered. “Then let’s see them.”

Feng Qingwan burst out laughing and slammed her cards on the table.

“A flush! What have you got to beat that?”

The crowd gasped, then grew excited, waiting to see Bai Hong bark like a dog.

Bai Hong’s expression remained unchanged. He simply raised an eyebrow.

“Heh, you’re pretty lucky. But… too bad for you. I have a straight.”

As he revealed his hand, his cards indeed formed a straight with three of the community cards on the board.

Feng Qingwan’s smile froze instantly. Her face a mask of disbelief, she shot to her feet.

“You…”

Bai Hong tapped the table.

“Feng Qingwan, you’re not thinking of backing out of the bet, are you? You still have eighty thousand left. What’s the rush?”

Feng Qingwan took a deep breath, frowning at Bai Hong.

She finally sensed that something was wrong.

‘A flush is an incredibly strong hand. It’s almost impossible to lose. How could Bai Hong possibly have a straight?’

‘This couldn’t be explained by luck. There was only one possibility: Bai Hong was cheating.’

‘But as they say, you have to catch a thief red-handed. Since she hadn’t spotted it, that was her own failure.’

‘If I keep playing like this, I’ll lose everything sooner or later…’

Feng Qingwan clenched her fists in anger. She clearly didn’t want to play anymore, but Bai Hong wasn’t about to let her go so easily.

“Keep going. The bet isn’t over yet,” Bai Hong urged.

Seeing Feng Qingwan’s conflicted expression, Chen Erbao felt it was his time to shine.

He stood up, placed a hand on Feng Qingwan’s shoulder, and said in a low voice,

“Let me.”

“You…”

Feng Qingwan was stunned for a moment.

“Do you even know how to play?”

“Definitely better than you do. You’re being played and you don’t even realize it,” Chen Erbao retorted irritably.

“…”

Feng Qingwan stood up and gave him her seat. Bai Hong looked at Chen Erbao and scowled.

“Who are you?”

“None of your damn business. Are you playing or not?” Chen Erbao wasn’t about to be polite and shot back at him.

“Yeah, are you playing or not?” Seeing Chen Erbao’s confidence, Feng Qingwan’s own returned, and she fanned the flames from the sidelines.

“Fine. If he loses, you’ll still honor the bet, right?”

Bai Hong hadn’t expected someone to jump in out of nowhere, but he still felt he had the situation under control.

Feng Qingwan glanced at Chen Erbao, then gritted her teeth and said,

“We’ll honor it. Let’s start.”

The dealer glanced at Bai Hong, nodded, and began to shuffle the cards.

Just as the dealer was about to deal, Chen Erbao suddenly exploded.

BANG!

He shot up and sent the dealer flying with a kick, a fierce look appearing on his otherwise calm face.

“You’re fucking cheating, aren’t you?”

Everyone was shocked and jumped to their feet.

Bai Hong’s expression turned ugly as well.

Feng Qingwan was startled and grabbed Chen Erbao.

“What’s wrong?”

Chen Erbao walked over to the dealer, reached into his sleeve, and pulled out two cards, throwing them on the floor.

He spat to the side and looked at Bai Hong with contempt.

“If you can’t afford to lose, don’t play, kid. You’re the one who proposed the bet, but you’re the one cheating. Have you no shame?”

WHOOSH…

The crowd erupted in an uproar.

Some people had suspected Bai Hong might be cheating, but no one had been able to spot it. Now that he’d been caught red-handed, his reputation was going to be ruined!

Bai Hong’s face flushed red. He glared at Chen Erbao and retorted,

“You’re full of shit! I don’t even fucking know him! How could I be cheating?”

Feng Qingwan, with her fiery temper, immediately started cursing him out.

“Bai Hong, you son of a bitch! You’re a disgrace! Cheating to scam me, I’ll…”

Her tirade drew the attention of everyone in the hall. All eyes turned to Bai Hong, making his face burn with shame.

People from the Huang Family were also drawn by the commotion. The Steward approached with several bodyguards.

“What’s going on here?”

Feng Qingwan snorted coldly.

“I’m the one who should be asking what’s going on! Why is a dealer from the Huang Family colluding with Bai Hong? Are you all in on this together, trying to set me up?”

Hearing this, sweat began to bead on the Steward’s forehead.

‘If word of this gets out, how can the Huang Family stay in business?’

He quickly explained,

“Miss Feng, please rest assured, we will definitely get to the bottom of this for you. But I promise you, the Huang Family would absolutely never do something like this. There must be a misunderstanding…”

But Feng Qingwan wasn’t listening to his explanation. She shoved at the bodyguards, shouting,

“Where is Huang Sanlang? I want to see Huang Sanlang! I demand an explanation!”

The other rich kids watched the drama unfold with great interest from the sidelines. Bai Hong, however, glared at Chen Erbao, his expression ugly as he ground his teeth audibly.

The Steward, now sweating profusely, took out his phone to call Huang Sanlang.

A moment later, a calm voice came through the phone.

“This bet is void. The boxing matches are about to start, so clear the tables for now… Miss Feng, I will give you a proper explanation after this is over. Young Master Bai, I’ll ask that you don’t be in a hurry to leave, either.”

Hearing Huang Sanlang’s words, Feng Qingwan finally backed down.

“At least you know what to say. I’ll let it go this time, for your sake. But you better give me a proper explanation, or I’ll tell everyone in Binhai that the Huang Family cheats and fleeces its customers!”

“Rest assured…”

Huang Sanlang, clearly exasperated as well, quickly hung up.

The crowd finally dispersed. Feng Qingwan deftly swept all of Bai Hong’s chips into her possession and shot him a vicious glare.

Bai Hong didn’t care about the hundred thousand yuan, but he couldn’t stand the humiliation of being exposed in public. He shot Chen Erbao a dark look, then turned and stalked off toward a corner.

A hundred thousand yuan richer for free, Feng Qingwan was in a great mood. She happily led Chen Erbao to the best seats to wait for the boxing matches to begin.

Chen Erbao was quite puzzled.

“You’re a young lady from the Feng Family, aren’t you? Is a hundred thousand yuan really something to get this excited about?”

Feng Qingwan glared at him. “I’m happy! What’s it to you?”

“…”

‘This woman is unbelievable,’ Chen Erbao thought. ‘I help her win money, and forget a thank you, she won’t even give me a pleasant look.’

‘What a stupid, busty woman!’

Chen Erbao glanced again at the magnificent view, and an amorous thought stirred within him.
