The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 439: The Contradictory Feng Qingwan

Chen Erbao rolled with the momentum again, dodging the Dagger’s sneak attack. By then, Xiu Yuan was right in front of him.

A fist whistling through the air plummeted toward Chen Erbao’s head. Xiu Yuan’s lips curled into a cruel smile, already picturing the gruesome scene of Chen Erbao’s skull being split open.

But the next instant, his smile froze on his face.

Chen Erbao’s hand shot out, accurately seizing Xiu Yuan’s wrist. At the same time, he put power into his waist, launching his entire body into the air and ramming straight into Xiu Yuan.

“THUD.”

A brutal shoulder check sent Xiu Yuan stumbling backward, off-balance. Chen Erbao pressed his advantage, swiftly circling behind Xiu Yuan, wrapping his arms around his opponent’s torso, and then throwing himself backward.

It was a classic wrestling takedown.

With a thunderous CRASH, both men hit the mat. Since Chen Erbao had initiated the takedown, Xiu Yuan was left completely dazed. Before he could even regain his senses, Chen Erbao had already wrapped an arm around his neck, pinning him securely underneath.

Xiu Yuan’s face instantly turned crimson as he struggled desperately. But Chen Erbao’s arm, like a steel clamp, was locked vice-tight around his throat. In just a few seconds, his gaze began to wander and his consciousness started to fade.

Watching from below, Bai Hong was so furious he looked ready to charge the stage himself. He roared:

“Goddammit, hit him! Hit him!”

But Xiu Yuan could no longer hear a thing. The pressure from Chen Erbao’s muscles had cut off the blood vessels in his neck. His circulation quickly stopped, his brain was starved of oxygen, and he went into shock.

Chen Erbao got up and kicked the unconscious Xiu Yuan off the stage. He then calmly brushed the dust from his clothes and looked at the referee, his expression unchanged.

The referee finally snapped out of it and began to announce the result.

“Match two, the winner is Chen Haonan!”

“Yeah! I won! I won again!”

Feng Qingwan was as giddy as a little kid, bouncing up and down in her seat. She even shot a middle finger in Bai Hong’s direction.

Bai Hong saw this and looked like he was about to explode with rage, his face a livid shade of green.

He couldn’t believe it. Xiu Yuan had the upper hand thanks to his sneak attack with a Hidden Weapon, yet he was defeated this quickly without even managing to land a single effective blow on Chen Erbao.

After all, though Chen Erbao had looked like he was in trouble during the first half of the fight, he was actually completely unscathed.

Having swiftly won two matches, Chen Erbao stood quietly on the stage, waiting for the third challenger to appear.

‘I’m going to take down all nine challengers today. I’ll make Huang Sanlang see my true strength and lay the groundwork for our future cooperation.’

The faces of the other rich kids in the competition turned grim. They started frantically asking their own hired masters if they had the confidence to defeat Chen Erbao.

Feng Qingwan’s beautiful eyes, filled with surprise and adoration, were fixed on Chen Erbao. She was practically bursting with joy. ‘I can’t believe it! The random fighter I hired is actually a real Martial Arts Master!’

She stood below the stage, watching Chen Erbao with excitement, her breathing growing ragged.

Her ample chest heaved, and a flush crept across her fair skin.

Feng Qingwan had always been an oddball in Binhai’s circle of wealthy heirs.

Despite her privileged background, a baby face, and a bombshell figure, she wasn’t like the other socialites who spent their time shopping, putting on makeup, and trying to land a man. Deep down, she loved bloody, violent sports like boxing.

This taste in hobbies was a complete contrast to her appearance, which in turn caused some of the more perverted young scions to become obsessed with her, each one fantasizing about having Feng Qingwan beneath them.

Contrast is king.

Feng Qingwan didn’t care what anyone else thought. Right now, she was too excited to contain herself. She stood at the edge of the stage and yelled:

“Go, Chen Haonan, go!”

A few of the young scions nearby who knew her shot her a glance, hiding the lust in their eyes as they whispered to their cronies.

Soon, the third challenger was selected. He was average-looking and had mediocre skills, a far cry from Xiu Yuan. Chen Erbao dispatched him in a couple of moves without breaking a sweat and waited for the next opponent.

In the monitoring room, Huang Sanlang’s expression was placid, his gaze profound as he watched the screen, observing Chen Erbao defeat one challenger after another. It was impossible to know what he was thinking.

Beside him, Uncle Xu hesitated, but in the end, he couldn’t hold his tongue.

“Young Master, I underestimated him. He’s definitely at the level of a second-rate master. These outside challengers alone probably won’t be enough to force out his true strength. Should we send one of our own men up?”

Huang Sanlang said impassively:

“Let’s wait… Even if we find out where he comes from, we can’t necessarily trust him. But Feng Qingwan… Have someone look into how she met this man.”

“Understood.”

…

「In the main hall.」

Chen Erbao had already defeated another three challengers with ease. After several consecutive fights, his breathing had become a little heavy.

He was faking it, though.

‘If I make this look too easy,’ he thought, ‘I’m afraid Huang Sanlang will be too intimidated to cooperate.’

‘I need to give Huang Sanlang the illusion that he’s still in control, while also showing off my considerable strength.’

The flamboyant host glanced at the tablet in her hand, her expression faltering for a second. She quickly recovered, however, and faced the crowd with a smile.

“Ladies and gentlemen, our next challenger is… the Iron-Faced Tiger!”

The host’s words made the crowd explode. Everyone, who had just been whispering amongst themselves, now turned to the stage with looks of excitement.

“The Huang Family’s own fighter is getting in the ring?”

“The Iron-Faced Tiger! He hasn’t lost a single match since he joined the Huang Family’s fighting circuit last year!”

“This kid’s winning streak must be costing the Huang Family a fortune. They can’t stand it anymore…”

Feng Qingwan’s expression changed. She shot to her feet and glared at the host.

“Where’s Huang Sanlang? Has he no shame? Was the Iron-Faced Tiger even on the official list of fighters? You just play dirty when you can’t win, you…!”

Her tirade left the flamboyant host looking embarrassed. She didn’t dare argue back with Feng Qingwan, so she could only force an awkward yet polite smile.

“Miss Feng, the previously scheduled participant isn’t feeling well, and the other fighters aren’t on-site. We had no choice but to have the Iron-Faced Tiger step in. My sincerest apologies…”

“You shameless hacks…”

Feng Qingwan cursed them out, but when Huang Sanlang refused to show his face, she knew the decision was final. The only way out was for Chen Erbao to surrender now.

She ran up to the stage and said to Chen Erbao with concern:

“Chen Haonan, you… you should just surrender. You’ve already won so many matches in a row, and I’ve won almost ten million. I’ve basically won back all the money I’ve lost here this year.”

Chen Erbao was surprised. ‘I didn’t think this wild girl would actually be worried about my safety.’

“Is the Iron-Faced Tiger that strong?”

“Of course! He joined the fighting circuit last year and hasn’t lost a single match. And he’s vicious—his opponents either end up dead or crippled…”

Chen Erbao waved a hand, cutting Feng Qingwan off. He looked completely unfazed.

“Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing. Just wait down there. And remember to give me a cut of your winnings tonight.”
