The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao

Chapter 440: Iron-Faced Tiger

Seeing that Chen Erbao wouldn’t surrender, Feng Qingwan grew anxious. With no other options, she gritted her teeth and said,

“If you can last through this, I’ll give you half!”

Chen Erbao didn’t even glance at her. Instead, his gaze fell on the figure approaching from a distance.

‘If I’m not mistaken,’ he thought, ‘this must be the man Huang Sanlang sent. His purpose is probably to gauge my true strength.’

According to the intelligence Xiao Guang had gathered, even though Huang Sanlang was the third young master of the Huang Family, his resources were next to nothing compared to Huang Baiwen’s. The vast majority of the Huang Family’s enterprises were in Huang Baiwen’s hands. Huang Sanlang had only been allotted a few small companies and was even subjected to oppression and surveillance by the eldest branch of the family.

As long as Huang Baiwen was in the picture, Huang Sanlang would never have a chance to turn the tables.

Chen Erbao was confident that a man like Huang Sanlang would never be content to remain someone’s subordinate.

All he had to do was display sufficient strength. He would become the sharp blade in Huang Sanlang’s hand, carving out a path for him and helping him overthrow Huang Baiwen.

With a Top-level Expert in his service, Huang Sanlang should finally have the courage to openly oppose Huang Baiwen.

Therefore, he had to show Huang Sanlang the full extent of his power as a Top-level Expert.

‘Iron-Faced Tiger…’

Chen Erbao took off his trench coat, setting it aside. His eyes locked onto the middle-aged man approaching from the distance.

The man had a square jaw and ordinary features, but a gruesome scar running from the corner of his eye to the bridge of his nose lent him a ferocious air.

Iron-Faced Tiger’s expression was equally grave. He had been watching the earlier matches from afar, but he hadn’t been able to discern Chen Erbao’s true strength at all.

Chen Erbao hadn’t used any of his real techniques, defeating all previous challengers with nothing more than basic moves.

“A Top-level Expert!”

‘A Top-level Expert!’ The thought flashed through Iron-Faced Tiger’s mind.

He too was a Top-level Expert. Though the Grandmaster Realm was still a distant goal, he believed he had a chance of reaching it within his lifetime.

That was why he had chosen to join the Huang Family’s fighting ring, hoping to break through to the next Realm and become a Grandmaster through the crucible of life-and-death combat.

An opponent like Chen Erbao was exactly what he had been waiting for!

Chen Erbao sensed the battle lust pouring off Iron-Faced Tiger, but he felt nothing in particular.

After all, the gap between their true abilities was simply too vast for him to feel any emotional stirrings.

As Iron-Faced Tiger strode to the center of the ring, the noisy crowd gradually fell silent. The venue, filled with over a hundred people, descended into an eerie quiet. Only the gazes of the two men on the stage clashed, and the atmosphere grew heavy and murderous.

“You’re strong,” Iron-Faced Tiger said in a low voice. “None of the others could force you to reveal your true power.”

Chen Erbao nodded.

“You’re not all that impressive yourself. Just a bit stronger than them. A pity, but you’re still no match for me.”

‘So arrogant!’

The same thought flashed through everyone’s mind in the audience.

Seeing Chen Erbao standing there so casually as he said it, they all thought he was being a cocky bastard.

Iron-Faced Tiger didn’t get angry. Instead, he nodded thoughtfully.

“At my level of strength, it’s incredibly difficult to make any further progress. I hope you can put enough pressure on me to take that crucial next step.”

His words were baffling, and most of the crowd didn’t understand what he meant.

However, the few young scions in the audience who understood the power divisions of Ancient Martial Arts sat up straight, their expressions serious.

If Iron-Faced Tiger became a Grandmaster, his status would change completely. He would no longer be stuck in this fighting ring. He’d become an honored guest of the Huang Family, and even the powerful old patriarch himself might grant him a personal audience.

“You? Heh…”

Chen Erbao chuckled softly, not explaining further.

He could see it with perfect clarity. This Iron-Faced Tiger was limited by his natural talent and was a long way from the Grandmaster Realm. His Inner Strength was currently unstable. Without guidance from a true master, he couldn’t even dream of breaking through to the Grandmaster Realm in the next three to five years.

He couldn’t be bothered to enlighten him. Spreading his hands, he gestured for Iron-Faced Tiger to begin.

Iron-Faced Tiger’s brow furrowed.

“You don’t think I can break through to the Grandmaster Realm?”

He thought Chen Erbao was mocking him.

Chen Erbao shook his head without explaining.

“Stop wasting time. I’m in a hurry.”

The flat words, laced with a hint of contempt, brought a snarl to Iron-Faced Tiger’s face. The scar on the bridge of his nose seemed to twitch, coming alive with his anger.

BOOM—

He hesitated no longer. After a glance at the referee, who nodded his assent, he spun and unleashed a cannon fist straight at Chen Erbao’s face.

Chen Erbao neither dodged nor retreated. He simply threw a punch of his own. Their fists collided with a heavy, muffled thud.

They broke apart on contact. Chen Erbao stood firm, but Iron-Faced Tiger was forced back half a step.

In the very first exchange, the difference in their strength was already obvious.

Chen Erbao’s expression remained unchanged. With a surge of internal energy, the muscles in his arms writhed like coiling dragons. Veins popped as his biceps bulged, and he threw another punch.

Iron-Faced Tiger grunted, moving to parry the punch with one hand while his other shot toward Chen Erbao’s throat.

Had the blow landed, Chen Erbao’s throat would have been seriously injured.

But Chen Erbao didn’t even flinch. He poured more strength into his arm, and a ferocious aura erupted from him, crushing down on Iron-Faced Tiger’s arm.

Iron-Faced Tiger’s expression darkened. Unable to deflect Chen Erbao’s arm, his follow-up attack was rendered useless. He could only tap his feet and retreat, but Chen Erbao stuck to him like a shadow, unleashing a flurry of blows from both sides like a raging storm.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

A series of heavy thuds exploded through the air. One retreated while the other advanced, and in an instant, they had moved from the center of the ring to its very edge.

Iron-Faced Tiger’s arms were already bright red from Chen Erbao’s assault, and his left shoulder was beginning to swell. He had clearly taken a significant beating.

The exchange seemed to last an eternity, but it was all over in less than ten seconds.

In just ten seconds, their clash had completely electrified the atmosphere in the arena.

The once-silent venue erupted with noise. The crowd’s excitement seemed to be ignited by the fighters’ fists, sending waves of roaring heat that threatened to blow the roof off the place.

“Fuck! Iron-Faced Tiger, get him! Kill him!”

“Dammit, haven’t you eaten? Stop dodging and fight!”

“Go, Chen Haonan, go!”

Feng Qingwan’s voice was quite loud, drawing disgruntled looks from those around her.

After all, a lot of people were rooting for Iron-Faced Tiger, many of whom had bet a considerable amount of money on him. The fighting ring had set the odds and taken bets before the match started.

Iron-Faced Tiger had extremely high odds of winning, making it seem like a surefire bet. But now, the outcome was anyone’s guess.

Of course, seeing the three-to-one payout for Chen Erbao, some people had also wagered one or two million on him, hoping to score a big win.

In the surveillance room, Huang Sanlang had placed a three-million-dollar bet on Chen Erbao under his own name. To Huang Sanlang, that amount was pocket change.

What was important was that he thought he was seeing his chance to finally turn the tables!

And that chance was Chen Erbao!
