Ye Feng nodded. "Okay, no need to hurry back."

Xiao Gu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He’d better get going; a third wheel is always unwelcome.

Ye Feng sat up, and Han Xiaorui began feeding him the congee. "Is it too hot?"

"Not at all, it’s perfect," Ye Feng chuckled. He could have eaten it himself, but being fed by Han Xiaorui felt like a luxury.

"How is it? Does it taste okay? I learned how to make this sea cucumber congee specifically from Sister Cai, so it should be pretty good," Han Xiaorui asked as she fed him.

"It’s delicious." Ye Feng had a big appetite and ate two whole bowls of the congee.

After the meal, Han Xiaorui brought some warm water for Ye Feng to rinse his mouth.

Lying back down, Ye Feng held Han Xiaorui’s hand. "My grandma, grandpa, and my aunt gave you a hard time yesterday. I already told them off, so please don’t be angry."

Han Xiaorui shrugged, unconcerned. "I’m not angry. I’m dating you, not them."

"Besides, I had just gotten off the fishing boat yesterday. I really was grimy and reeked of fish. Your grandma, grandpa, and aunt are all from a wealthy family. It’s only normal they’d think a Little Fish Girl like me isn’t good enough for you."

Ye Feng smiled faintly. He loved Han Xiaorui’s confidence and frankness. "They’ll like you once they get to know you."

Han Xiaorui shook her head with a playful pout. "How could that be okay? If I care about you and like you, can I just say it with words? Shouldn’t my actions show it?"

"Don’t think of it as a chore. Life is unpredictable. I’ll take care of you when you’re unwell, and when I’m unwell, you’ll have to take care of me. I won’t let you get away with anything for free."

Ye Feng smiled. "You’re right. Just using words to express affection feels like a lie; actions are what matter. It’s just that, to take care of me, you won’t be able to go out to sea for a few days."

Han Xiaorui broke into a dazzling smile. "The sea is right there; it’s not going anywhere. If I don’t go out for a few days, I can always go later. There’s no rush."
