Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Second-hand Large Seagoing Vessel
Han Xiaorui’s behavior today had already left Xu Yingying deeply impressed. But when she combined that with the information her parents had found, she was utterly shocked.
She could see the love in Ye Feng’s eyes whenever he looked at Han Xiaorui; it was written all over his face.
Having been young once herself, she certainly knew what fiery passion looked like.
Rather than forcing them apart now and earning Ye Feng’s resentment, it was better to patiently wait and see if Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui could work through their differences.
If their feelings were deep enough for them to overcome their initial hurdles and build a life together, then Xu Yingying could only offer them her blessing.
If they broke up, it would just mean they weren’t meant to be.
The next day, when Old Madam Xu and Xu Yingying came to visit Ye Feng, they once again saw Han Xiaorui, along with her two children and younger sister.
Today, Han Xiaorui was wearing a red and white polka-dot shirt, a black skirt, and a pair of red sandals.
A matching hairband held her long, braided hair in place, giving her an elegant, neat, and lovely appearance.
Pingping and An’an were dressed in jumper dresses, sandals with white socks, and matching ponytails.
Han Xiaoqing was dressed more simply in a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers, her hair in a ponytail, looking youthful and vibrant.
When Old Madam Xu saw Han Xiaorui, she didn’t recognize her at first.
It was only after a reminder from Xu Yingying that she realized this was the "Little Fish Girl," Han Xiaorui.
Old Madam Xu’s expression was complicated. She gritted her teeth, completely abandoning the thought of trying to talk her grandson out of it.
Even the worldly Old Madam Xu had to admit that Han Xiaorui was truly beautiful—a stunning, almost aggressive kind of beauty.
Especially when she smiled. Even the most cold-hearted of men would be moved.
"Ye Feng, you should talk with your family. I’ll take the children and head back for now," Han Xiaorui said with a smile. "I hope you get well soon."
"Alright, be safe," Ye Feng smiled. "Goodbye, Pingping, An’an."
"Goodbye, Uncle Ye," the two children replied obediently.
Han Xiaorui smiled and looked at Old Madam Xu. "Goodbye, Old Madam, Miss Xu."
"Goodbye," Xu Yingying nodded. Seeing the two adorable, beautiful children, she had to fight the urge to pinch their cheeks.
She and her husband had been married for over ten years. Although they had a wonderful relationship, not having children had always been a source of regret for her.
She dreamed of having a child of her own, but her wish had never been granted.
Now that she was in Hua Country, she planned to see an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor once her husband returned from the United States.
Old Madam Xu took her grandson’s hand. "Xiao Feng, are you sure about this?"
Ye Feng nodded. "I’m sure. I genuinely love Xiao Rui."
"Sigh. The younger generation will find their own way. You can decide for yourself," Old Madam Xu said with a nod. "Just like your mother, you take matters of the heart far too seriously."
Ye Feng smiled. "If people don’t have feelings, what’s the difference between us and animals?"
Old Madam Xu poked Ye Feng’s forehead. "Oh, you! You used to be so aloof. Now that you’re in love, you’re a completely different person."
"It’s like an old house catching fire—there’s no putting it out," Xu Yingying snickered. "I’ll make a point to hang out with Han Xiaorui more often and get to know her better."
Ye Feng chuckled. "Auntie, don’t you go bullying Xiao Rui."
"Me, bully her?" Xu Yingying pointed to herself. "I’m not as tall as her, and I’m not as strong. What makes you so sure I’d be the one bullying Han Xiaorui, and not her bullying me?"
Ye Feng shook his head again and again. "Xiao Rui is a reasonable person. She would never bully you."
Xu Yingying’s eyebrows shot up. "You little brat, are you asking for it? So if Han Xiaorui is ’reasonable,’ does that make me the unreasonable, argumentative one?"
As she spoke, she reached out as if to twist Ye Feng’s ear.
Old Madam Xu quickly stopped her. "Don’t be ridiculous! Xiao Feng is still injured!"
Seeing the change in his grandmother’s and aunt’s attitudes, Ye Feng heaved a long sigh of relief. ’If they can get along, it’ll save me a lot of trouble down the line.’
Over the weekend, Han Xiaorui brought Ye Feng three meals a day, and his recovery progressed faster than the doctors had expected.
Ye Feng would be able to leave the hospital in another week.
On Monday, Han Xiaoqing took Pingping and An’an to school while Han Xiaorui went to deliver a meal to Ye Feng.
She spent the morning chatting with Ye Feng. At one point, Han Xiaorui heard a knock on the door and was surprised to find Liang Xiaoyu there.
"Sister-in-law Xiao Yu, what are you doing here?" Han Xiaorui asked curiously.
Liang Xiaoyu held up a container of pastries her mother-in-law had made. "Well, for one, I came to visit Mr. Ye. And for two, I’m here to pass on a message from Village Chief Liu and Uncle Yang. Wu Guangfu from the next village can’t hold out any longer. He wants to sell his boat."
"What?" Han Xiaorui was stunned, a mix of shock and delight on her face. "Wait, didn’t Village Chief Liu say Wu Guangfu could hold out for a few more months? It’s only been one month, and he’s already caving? What happened?"
Liang Xiaoyu answered, "Village Chief Liu said that Wu Guangfu’s son got into a fight and broke someone’s leg. His son was taken into custody. If he can’t pay for compensation, he won’t get the other party to drop the charges, and his son will be sentenced to prison."
Hearing this, Han Xiaorui breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, so that’s what happened. I was worried something had gone wrong with the boat itself!"
"So, Xiao Rui, when are you heading back?" Liang Xiaoyu asked, glancing over at Ye Feng. "Are you able to get away from Mr. Ye’s side?"
Ye Feng smiled. "Xiao Rui, I’m much better now, so don’t worry about me. Xiao Gu is here to look after me. Just go take care of your business and come back to see me when you’re done."
"By the way, since you’re buying a used boat, if you’re not sure about its condition, you should look for Chen Yupeng. He’s at the shipyard, and there are plenty of technicians and mechanics there. You can slip someone some money to inspect it for you."
Han Xiaorui nodded. "Alright. I’ll get your lunch ready, and as soon as Xiao Gu gets here, I’ll head back."
’The sooner I get a big boat,’ she thought, ’the sooner I can go deep-sea fishing.’
’Even with my superpower, the small boat can only earn so much. It’s nothing compared to what a large boat could bring in.’
At noon, she returned to Fuli District, made porridge for Ye Feng, tidied up the apartment, and then locked the door and left.
Ye Feng had felt Han Xiaorui’s care and concern these past few days, and it made him incredibly happy.
But he also knew that Han Xiaorui wasn’t the kind of woman to put her ambitions on hold for a man, so he gave his full support for her to pursue her own goals.
Back in her own village, Han Xiaorui took some gifts she had bought and went to Yang Jianguo’s house first.
Yang Zhigang, who had just returned from a trip out to sea, was also at Yang Jianguo’s house. When he saw Xiao Rui, he smiled. "The Village Chief is probably waiting for you. You should just take those things over to him."
"I can’t do that. I have to leave a case for you and one for Brother Jianguo," Han Xiaorui laughed. "Sister Cuicui, you should bring Minmin over to my house to play sometime."
"Alright," Wu Cuicui smiled. "And thank you for the restaurant vouchers you gave us yesterday. It was my first time eating at such a fancy place in the city. It was a real eye-opener for the three of us."
Han Xiaorui smiled. "I’m just glad you enjoyed it."
Of the ten seafood buffet vouchers, she had given five to Liang Xiaoyu, three to Wu Cuicui, and the last two to Wu Lingling and Xu Wenwen.
They were usually very frugal, so going to such a luxurious place for the first time had been quite a shock.
When Village Chief Liu saw Han Xiaorui arrive, his eyes lit up, especially when he spotted the case of Maotai she was carrying. He beamed. ’My efforts weren’t wasted after all!’
