The Shining Star Above The Heaven

Chapter 1318: The Terror of the Storm Dragon

Ao Tianhai’s aura instantly burst forth with tremendous momentum, making even space itself seem on the verge of cracking. His phoenix companion even had to move farther away to avoid being affected by his aura.

Although he was only at peak Immortal Saint realm at this moment, his divine dragon aura, could not be completely concealed.

“Let me have some fun first,” Ao Tianhai said to the phoenix, and she simply let him be. She knew his character, so she found no problem with Ao Tianhai releasing some of his power upon these poor souls.

Space trembled as his aura spread, and it could be sensed by the millions of people below.

Their furious expressions, which had seemed ready to fight to the death, suddenly shrank into pale faces. They instantly forgot whatever determination they had in their hearts to fight the beings before them.

The dragon’s aura was unlike anything they had ever felt before. The very space around them felt unbearably heavy, and the pressure directly affected their souls.

An uncontrollable feeling of fear rose from the depths of their souls. It overwhelmed their minds, leaving them unable to think as they remained rooted to their spots, unable to do anything.

However, not everyone stood there helplessly like statues. Many Immortal Saint cultivators managed to break free from their fear through sheer force of will as their own auras also burst forth.

“Don’t be afraid! There are only two of them! We have millions on our side! Even if one of them is a dragon, he cannot face all of us! Moreover, we have the lords from the Higher Heavens!” one of the sect leaders below shouted, trying to raise the troops’ morale.

Even though he had been affected, he successfully fought against the fear.

The others also found their courage again, and some of them looked toward Zervis and Clara, seeking their guidance.

They saw both Divine Realm cultivators staring at Ao Tianhai and his companion with solemn expressions. They thought the two were considering how to attack Ao Tianhai and the woman.

But unbeknownst to them, both of them were already planning their escape. They truly wanted to ascend to the Higher Heavens, but they dared not release the seal on their cultivation.

The moment either of them released their seal, they would become the dragon’s and the phoenix’s primary targets. They had no doubt that the two would immediately kill them before they could ascend to the Higher Heavens.

With the dragon’s and phoenix’s overwhelming power, they believed that the chance of dying before they could ascend was extremely high.

“Let’s escape from this place first. We can ascend after we find a safe place,” Zervis said to Clara.

The woman did not show any response, but she understood it.

She did not want to give Ao Tianhai and the phoenix any sign that they were planning to escape.

Both of them had already begun circulating their energy and were ready to use their movement techniques to flee as far away from this place as possible.

But before they could escape, Ao Tianhai clasped both of his hands.

Spatial Prison.

Zumm!

A vast spatial barrier appeared, trapping the millions of people inside. The scale of the barrier was so enormous that it could enclose half of a capital city in the Second Heaven.

The barrier distorted the surrounding space itself, preventing anyone from escaping, even with teleportation talismans.

“I could see it even though you didn’t show it to me, you Avergis followers. You tried to escape from me. Although I don’t know who you are, the fact that you were able to decide so quickly to abandon your subordinates means you must have known me in the past,” Ao Tianhai said to Zervis and Clara.

Hearing that, many people’s eyes widened as they turned to look at Zervis and Clara. Although the two did not show much change in their expressions, their bodies noticeably tensed. Their bearing also seemed to dim, no longer as confident as before.

Zervis inwardly gritted his teeth.

Of course Ao Tianhai would not know who he was.

He had only just become a Divine Realm cultivator when he saw Ao Tianhai for the first time. He was someone who wasn’t even worth the dragon’s attention.

At that time, the Storm Dragon had been surrounded by more than ten God Sovereigns, and some of them had already taken a step toward becoming Master of Universe.

He could not participate in a battle of that level and could only observe it from afar.

He saw with his own eyes how that dragon fought more than ten gods by himself. The way the dragon controlled destruction laws with such ease and the overwhelming strength that induced despair could never truly be forgotten.

And in the end?

That dragon emerged victorious.

He himself could only escape alongside a few others before the dragon could kill them all.

That was the last time he saw that storm dragon with his own eyes, but he would occasionally hear about its actions, each of which caused their alliance’s forces to suffer tremendous losses.

At this moment, he had already reached the same cultivation realm as that dragon. But that dragon had been able to kill countless cultivators at the same level as himself, so what difference did it make now, even if he had reached the same cultivation realm?

He would still die!

“Shit, I can feel that my Spatial Step technique can’t breach that spatial barrier,” Zervis thought in panic as he glanced at Clara.

“My spiritual sense cannot pass through the barrier, and my control over space is blocked as well. It looks like we’re trapped here.”

Clara, who was also panicking inwardly, finally could no longer maintain her composure and bit her lip in frustration.

“Then there is no other choice. We have to fight them. It’s better than doing nothing and waiting for our deaths,” she replied.

Zervis nodded in agreement, and both of them circulated their energy as they prepared to launch their attacks.

But before they could attack, they saw Ao Tianhai’s body exuding sparkling strands of lightning, followed by dark gray energy. Upon seeing that energy, the phoenix immediately moved even farther away, as she had no desire to be touched by it.

That energy was formed from one of the most dangerous Laws in the universe.

Each strand of lightning instantly created spatial cracks as space itself could no longer withstand its immense power.

“I don’t have to transform into my true body to deal with all of you weaklings. But still, let me tell you a little secret, ladies and gentlemen. I can only maintain my barrier for two minutes while simultaneously unleashing another one of my techniques. So do your best to survive for the next two minutes. Maybe you’ll have a chance to escape from me,” Ao Tianhai said with a sinister smile.

The blackish energy and the lightning surged into the sky, and suddenly black clouds filled the heavens, with countless bolts of lightning flashing throughout the entire area enclosed by the barrier.

Across the sky, space itself remained torn apart, forming a web of spatial rifts that looked absolutely terrifying.

The millions of people who witnessed the scene finally lost all hope. They could feel the terrifying power contained within those clouds, and it was far beyond anything they could possibly withstand.

Even Peak Immortal Saints felt true despair. There was nothing they could do.

Even with their strong wills, they could not ignore the overwhelming gap in strength between themselves and Ao Tianhai.

The dark clouds formed a gigantic eye of the storm, and a slow rain began to fall. The rain was blackish, and every time a drop struck the ground, it produced a sound as though glass had shattered.

The shattered “glass” was actually space itself breaking apart, and everything touched by the rain began to disintegrate.

The rain fell upon the bodies of thousands of cultivators. The moment it touched them, their skin, and everything beneath it, began to break down like crumbling statues. Their bodies turned gray before falling apart into countless fragments.

“Nooo!”

“Arghhh!”

“Protect yourselves! Use everything you have to protect yourselves!”

“Don’t touch the rain!”

Countless voices filled with terror and panic spread throughout the millions of cultivators. They desperately tried to protect themselves by using defensive talismans, setting up defensive formations, or erecting their own energy barriers.

However, the rain still pierced through their defenses. Whether quickly or slowly, in the end their defenses were destroyed, creating a horrific scene of slaughter filled with despair.

As Zervis and Clara watched everything unfold, they felt dread and despair slowly consuming them. At this moment, they had already forgotten about fighting altogether.

Even so, they continued protecting themselves from the rain with their own energy barriers, despite them slowly being eroded away.

Zervis was once again reminded of the time he had witnessed the Storm Dragon fighting more than ten gods by himself.

But this time…

The target of that carnage was him and the millions of people trapped here.

‘The lightning storm infused with destruction laws… and this level of power…’ he thought as he gritted his teeth.

‘This isn’t fair. How can there be such a gap in power? How can any being in this universe become this powerful?’

As those thoughts crossed his mind, the rain grew heavier, and the roar of thunder became louder and more violent. Every single bolt of lightning in the sky possessed enough power to kill a Peak Immortal Saint with ease.

Then the lightning finally descended.

Countless bolts crashed down like heavenly pillars destroying the world. Everything within their vicinity was instantly obliterated without leaving even the slightest remnant. Space itself collapsed, and some of the impacts even gave birth to raging spatial storms.

“Fuck,” Zervis muttered with a crazed smile as both he and Clara were struck directly by the lightning. Having already lost the will to fight, they died without offering even the slightest resistance.

At this moment, within the vast barrier, millions of souls were sent to the underworld in horrific way.
