The Shining Star Above The Heaven
Chapter 1319: Gu Cangtian’s Power
In the Sacred Temple domain, the situation was much more “peaceful,” but the domain still could not avoid being attacked by Aldrian’s followers. In a town near the Retutas Desert, the town had already fallen under the control of one man.
Gu Cangtian, who had infiltrated the town over the past few days, received the report about the resistance group’s attacks across the Second Heaven.
That was his signal to take action, and of course, his first target was this small town. It did not take him long to take it over. The cultivators guarding this place were nowhere near strong enough to stop him.
They were so weak that there were barely any signs of battle, yet many were already dead because they dared to stand against Gu Cangtian. He killed them with ease without causing any damage to the town itself.
After killing all of the higher-ups controlling the town, along with the temple members stationed there, Gu Cangtian headed for the next location according to the plan.
Using a teleportation gate, he appeared in one of the tower cities. The moment he arrived, he immediately launched his attack towards the temple, and battle soon erupted.
He, who had suppressed his fury for so long, could finally unleash it in a battle where he could face several peak Immortal Saint cultivators.
The battle raging in the sky shook the entire city. Corpses continuously fell from above, crashing into buildings and streets, leaving some parts of the city damaged. The people took cover to protect themselves, while others watched the battle despite the danger.
The sky darkened as lightning bolts flashed between the black clouds. Spatial rifts appeared here and there, creating a chaotic spectacle.
Powerful winds swept across the sky, scattering the dark clouds, only for them to gather once again moments later. Flames burned the very fabric of space itself before being swallowed by the void beyond the spatial cracks.
Gu Cangtian was under siege by thousands of cultivators. He was surrounded by twenty Immortal Saint cultivators, along with thousands of cultivators below that realm.
By this time, he had already killed five Immortal Saint cultivators and many more below that realm.
He kept a calm expression as he looked at the many enemies surrounding him. He did not look panicked or tired. Instead, he looked bored. His gaze swept across his enemies as though he was facing nothing but weaklings who were not even worth his time.
The temple’s cultivators, on the other hand, were the complete opposite. Despite having far more Immortal Saints and hundreds of other cultivators, their expressions were grim.
Sweat rolled down their foreheads, and their bodies were tense. Even after joining forces, they still could not kill the lone enemy who had already slaughtered many of the temple’s members.
Not only did he show no signs of exhaustion, but he also did not reveal a single weakness, making them even angrier and more frustrated that all of their attacks had accomplished nothing.
“Temple Elders! Use the war formation! Overwhelm him with continuous powerful attacks!” the Temple Master of the city shouted.
The Immortal Saints immediately gathered and formed three battle formations. Giant avatars appeared above each formation, while the other cultivators quickly retreated to avoid being caught in the battle.
Gu Cangtian, who had been watching them calmly, finally spoke.
“What a disappointment. You weaklings are not enough to make me feel the thrill of battle. I haven’t even finished warming up. Well, whatever. I think I’ve already seen enough of all your efforts. Let’s end this here. I still have several places that I need to take control of.”
Gu Cangtian then lifted one of his hands toward the sky with his palm open. A powerful tornado emerged from his palm, rapidly expanding until it reached a height of hundreds of kilometers in less than three seconds.
Realizing that Gu Cangtian was about to unleash something devastating, the Temple Master shouted to all of his subordinates.
“Attack him now! Don’t let him complete whatever he’s trying to do!”
He immediately slashed forward with the fan in his hand, his artifact weapon, unleashing a powerful attack toward Gu Cangtian.
A powerful wave of white flames burst forth from the fan and rushed toward Gu Cangtian. The other cultivators also unleashed their own attacks using different elements. The giant avatars formed by the battle formations struck with their palm techniques.
Beams of light, each possessing enough power to kill a peak Immortal Saint cultivator, shot from the giant palms toward Gu Cangtian.
The countless attacks creating a terrifying combined assault capable of killing even cultivators far stronger than those in the Immortal Saint Realm.
However, Gu Cangtian’s expression did not change in the slightest. It was as if the incoming attacks posed no sense of danger to him.
Instead, with his other hand, he casually made a sweeping motion. Blackish gray energy surged from his palm. The energy caused the surrounding space to collapse while at the same time forming a protective barrier around him.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
The combined attacks slammed into his barrier with deafening force. Many people thought that Gu Cangtian was finished under the relentless barrage of powerful attacks.
Space itself collapsed, while dust stirred up by the violent clash of countless elements completely concealed his figure.
However, they soon realized that the gigantic tornado still stood, which could only mean one thing—Gu Cangtian was still alive!
They were utterly astonished. It did not take long before Gu Cangtian’s figure became visible once again as the dust was drawn into the tornado.
They could see the surrounding space filled with countless spatial rifts, while blackish-gray energy intertwined with the spatial cracks, forming a barrier that had completely protected him from every attack.
Everyone was shocked to see that he was completely unharmed. Their hearts, however, trembled at the sight of the strange blackish-gray energy protecting him. They felt an overwhelming sense of danger from it, and it instantly reminded them of one place.
‘This… this is the destruction laws?!’ The Temple Master’s eyes widened in shock.
He knew he was not mistaken, as he had once visited the Retutas Desert and approached the sandstorm. That energy gave off the exact same sensation as the sandstorm and the legendary destruction laws.
At that moment, the tornado was engulfed in blue flames. The combination of wind and fire made the tornado grow even stronger. The scorching heat radiating from it caused even space itself to crack apart, giving birth to violent spatial storms.
However, the tornado was not sucked into the void. Instead, it continued to grow stronger, while the blue flames spread into the void itself.
The cultivators surrounding Gu Cangtian, along with the millions of people throughout the city, could feel the terrifying heat radiating from the tornado.
The tornado swept away the dark clouds, allowing sunlight to shine upon the city once more.
However, the situation became far more terrifying than before as the gigantic blue flame tornado created blue flame clouds that spread across half of the city.
The flame clouds made the atmosphere throughout the city scorching hot while bathing everything in an eerie blue light. It was as though an inferno had descended upon the world.
The cultivators surrounding Gu Cangtian looked up with trembling gazes and shaken souls. They could feel just how terrifying the flames spreading across the sky were. They were flames capable of melting even their souls.
Suddenly, a gigantic pillar of blue flames descended from the flame clouds toward the tower located within the temple’s complex. A few more pillars of flame appeared almost at the same time, with one descending directly above Gu Cangtian.
All of those pillars transformed into enormous dragons of blue flames, their bodies remaining connected to the flame clouds above.
At that moment, the pillar of flame descending upon the temple struck its defensive barrier. The barrier instantly shattered, allowing the pillar of flame to crash directly into the tower and the temple complex.
The flames quickly engulfed the entire temple complex, destroying everything within it and killing everyone inside.
There were no screams of pain as their bodies were instantly reduced to ashes. Only the roaring of the flames could be heard.
The tower that had become the sacred symbol of Avergis’ followers, the place where countless people came to worship every day, was collapsed, unable to withstand the power of the pillar of flames.
The temple complex that had stood for eons was destroyed just like that.
However, even though countless people witnessed everything unfold before their eyes, none of them showed any fury on their faces.
The expressions that one would expect from the followers of the god Avergis were nowhere to be seen.
Instead, all they felt was despair.
They could no longer focus on the destroyed temple, as there were many flame dragons in the sky staring at the thousands of cultivators surrounding Gu Cangtian.
Each of the dragons connected to the flame clouds possessed enough power to kill a peak Immortal Saint cultivator, and there were more than twenty of them.
The most terrifying of them all was the dragon above Gu Cangtian. It was the largest and strongest among them, possessing power that had already surpassed the Immortal Saint Realm.
This overwhelming gap in power made everyone who still wished to fight realize just how arrogant they had been to think they could stand against such terrifying strength.
The Temple Master gritted his teeth as he lifted his gaze toward the dragon above Gu Cangtian. The dragon stared directly back at him, as though it had already chosen him as its first target.
Gu Cangtian maintained his calm expression, his hand still raised toward the sky. The tornado remained connected from his palm to the flame clouds. Then he spoke in a calm voice.
“Defend this.”
The moment those words fell, all of the dragons instantly surged forward, their enormous bodies charging toward every cultivator flying in the sky.
Their movements were incredibly fast, and no matter how their targets tried to escape, the dragons relentlessly caught up to them.
Worse still, the surrounding space became incredibly heavy, slowing the cultivators’ movements, while the dragons remained completely unaffected.
The Temple Master also attempted to escape using a space laws technique, but he was unable to do so, as the surrounding space itself had been disturbed by the scorching heat.
He was forced to flee normally, flying at his maximum speed, but in the end, he still could not outrun the dragon.
“Fuck!”
That was the last word he uttered before the flame dragon completely engulfed his body.
