They returned to the Verdant Hollow after the battle with the Tri-Cephalon Terror.

Gray carried Cindy in the curl of his tentacles, her small axolotl body leaning wearily against his bell. Her silver glow was dim, her frills drooping. The fight had drained nearly every drop of mana she had.

The moment they slipped into the grotto, the warmth of the Spirit Moss Ferns welcomed them. Gray set Cindy down gently on a flat rock near the small pool, then settled against the stone wall himself.

’We rest first,’ he said.

Cindy only nodded weakly, her eyes already half-closed.

Gray waited until her breathing steadied, until her silver light pulsed in a regular rhythm again. Only then did he open his status screen.

[LEVEL 40 — EVOLUTION AVAILABLE]

[Complete Traits Detected: 9]

[Generating evolution paths...]

Three panels materialized in the darkness of the grotto, each pulsing with a different energy.

PATH 1: SOVEREIGN OF TIDES

« Mana-Devouring Abyssal Aurelia Variant »

[Silhouette: A large, regal jellyfish form. The bell was broad and crowned with a ring of crystalline growths that pulsed with inner light. Eight long tentacles trailed beneath, each one lined with mana-conductive filaments that shimmered like liquid starlight. The entire form radiated a quiet, overwhelming presence and absolute.]

Analysis:

The Sovereign of Tides combines the Tidal Reaper’s speed with the Mana Devourer’s magical dominance. You become a creature that feeds on magic itself, capable of disrupting enemy spells, absorbing mana-based attacks, and turning their own power against them.

Base Stats:

· HP: +200

· MP: +400

· ATK: +15

· DEF: +15

· SPD: +20

· INT: +50

Inherited Traits:

· Mana Confluence — Enhanced. Mana regeneration tripled in high-mana environments. Arcane Burst cooldown reduced to 15 seconds.

· Mana Devourer (Title) — Enhanced. Absorb 20% of mana-based damage taken. +25% damage against mana-based creatures.

· Fear Eater — Integrated. Terror Aura now also drains MP from affected enemies.

New Skills:

· [Energy Drain] (Active) — Drain MP from a single target at range. Restores your own MP by half the amount drained. MP Cost: 0. Cooldown: 20 seconds.

· [Arcane Dominion] (Passive) — All mana-based skills cost 20% less. Enemy magical barriers are 30% less effective against you.

Playstyle: Anti-Mage / Sustained Controller

You are the counter to everything magical. Mages cannot touch you. Magical creatures starve in your presence. You don’t just survive magic — you consume it.

PATH 2: NIGHT SHADE

« Apex Predator Abyssal Aurelia Variant »

[Silhouette: A sleek, predatory jellyfish form. The bell was narrow and blade-like, its surface covered in overlapping plates of dark, reflective chitin. Eight tentacles extended behind it like a fan of swords, each one ending in a curved, crystalline scythe. The entire form radiated killing intent — a creature designed for one purpose.]

Analysis:

The Night Shade abandons defense entirely, becoming the purest expression of the Tidal Reaper’s lethal speed. You are faster than anything in the abyss. Your strikes ignore armor. Your prey dies before it realizes you’ve moved.

Base Stats:

· HP: +150

· MP: +100

· ATK: +40

· DEF: +5

· SPD: +50

· INT: +10

Inherited Traits:

· Ambush Predator — Enhanced. Stealth damage bonus increased to +40%. Critical hit chance from stealth increased to +25%.

· Hydrodynamic Frame — Enhanced. +25% movement speed. +20% evasion.

· Reflective Skin — Integrated. 15% damage reduction from energy-based attacks (electricity, light, thermal). Passive. Synergizes with existing armor traits.

New Skills:

· [Reaper’s Mark] (Active) — Mark a target. All damage dealt to the marked target is increased by 25% for 10 seconds. MP Cost: 15. Cooldown: 25 seconds.

· [Death’s Approach] (Passive) — When you strike a target from stealth, your next attack within 3 seconds deals 50% bonus damage.

Playstyle: Assassin / Glass Cannon

You are the blade in the dark. One strike. One kill. If it takes more than that, you’re already planning your escape.

PATH 3: DEEP COLOSSUS

« Colossal Abyssal Aurelia Variant »

[Silhouette: A massive, armored jellyfish form. The bell was enormous, easily three times its current size, covered in interlocking plates of volcanic chitin and crystalline growths. Twelve thick tentacles hung beneath it, each one studded with paralytic needles, venomous spines, and serrated barbs. The form radiated weight and permanence, a creature that had become part of the abyss itself.]

Analysis:

The Deep Colossus sacrifices speed and precision for overwhelming size and durability. You become a living fortress, a creature so large and so heavily armored that only the greatest apex predators pose a threat. Your presence alone changes the ecosystem.

Base Stats:

· HP: +500

· MP: +150

· ATK: +25

· DEF: +40

· SPD: -10

· INT: +15

Inherited Traits:

· Frost-Touched Chitin — Integrated. Frost Armor now lasts 20 seconds and reduces damage by 40%.

· Mental Fortitude — Integrated. 40% resistance to hypnotic, psychic, and confusion effects. Passive.

· Toxic Resilience — Integrated. 50% reduction in poison duration. 25% reduction in poison damage. Passive.

New Skills:

· [Tidal Crush] (Active) — Slam your massive body into the seafloor, creating a shockwave that damages and stuns all enemies within 8 meters. Damage scales with DEF. MP Cost: 30. Cooldown: 20 seconds.

· [Colossus’s Presence] (Passive) — Creatures significantly weaker than you are less likely to attack. Intimidation effect scales with HP and DEF.

· [Frost Armor] (Active) — Encase your body in a layer of dense ice, reducing physical damage taken by 40% for 20 seconds. While active, physical contact deals cold damage to attackers. MP Cost: 20. Cooldown: 30 seconds.

Playstyle: Tank / Zone Dominator

You don’t chase prey. You don’t hide. You simply exist, and everything else adapts. The abyss becomes your territory, and anything that enters it does so on your terms.

Gray stared at the three panels for a long time.

’This is a hard choice,’ he murmured.

His gaze drifted from one panel to the next, reading each one like a map of a different future.

’Sovereign of Tides makes me the counter to everything magical. Night Shade makes me the fastest killer in the abyss. Deep Colossus makes me something that can’t be killed by anything smaller than a god.’

’But I don’t want to keep choosing based on what I’m afraid of.’

’I want to choose based on where I want to go.’
