Chapter 128: 128 vampire
BOOOOOOM!
The rock exploded. Gorvak fell and tried to get back up, but his legs failed when he attempted to stand. Kael walked toward him, and with every step, small stones shifted beneath his feet.
Gorvak raised his eyes and felt the aura of death emanating from Kael. In the bear’s eyes was a fear that manifested from his primal instincts.
Kael stopped in front of him.
"You were a worthy opponent, but unfortunately for you, our battle is over."
Gorvak clenched his teeth.
"I..."
Kael clenched his fist, concentrating all the strength he could gather. He was covered in profound spiritual energy.
BOOM!
The final blow struck Gorvak before he could resist. The Beastman’s body sank into the ground under the power of the attack. After delivering the blow, Kael continued looking at him for several seconds before turning around.
In the distance, the enemy army continued to be pressured from all sides. Andarna’s blue flames still covered parts of the mountain range, while the skeletons advanced among the soldiers.
Valeria continued fighting Khoran, and Eryon kept Zarek under pressure. Nefrava and Saro remained locked in a confrontation of fire and sand, while Morcant was still fighting one of the Elementals.
Kareth, Nyra, and Valeria had wounded another one, but he was still alive. The other enemy soldiers tried to find an opening among the undead, but there was none.
The Medusas were already being escorted toward the mausoleum. Vaelra walked among them, helping those who were wounded. Some needed to be carried, while others walked with the support of their companions’ shoulders.
None of them wanted to look back. But they all knew that the battle had entered its final phase.
Ariselle watched everything from a distance. Her eyes remained on the survivors for several seconds before she turned toward Vaelra.
"Take everyone to the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist."
Vaelra nodded.
"My Queen."
"There is a team waiting for you there."
Ariselle looked at the wounded warriors.
"They will treat all your injuries. You don’t need to worry about the outcome of the war for now. Just focus on keeping our people safe."
Vaelra hesitated for a brief moment before asking.
"And those who can still fight?"
Ariselle remained silent for a moment. Then she answered:
"They don’t need to fight anymore."
Her voice was gentle yet resolute, carrying unwavering confidence.
"They have already done enough. Let them rest. There will be plenty of work after all this is over."
Vaelra looked at the warriors behind her. Some were covered in blood, while others had silent tears streaming down their faces.
The Elder closed her eyes for a moment.
"Understood."
Ariselle continued:
"The healers must also withdraw."
Vaelra raised her eyes.
"All of them?"
"All of them, except those at the tenth level of the Profound Nascence."
Vaelra understood.
"Yes, my Queen."
She turned around.
"Let’s go!"
The Medusas began to retreat.
Meanwhile, the battle continued throughout the mountain range. Yun Che silently observed the developments on the battlefield.
His gaze passed over the Knights of the Apocalypse, the eight undead generals, and the thousands of skeletons advancing among the enemies.
Then his eyes turned toward the major battles.
Khoran was fighting Valeria. Zarek was resisting Eryon, while Saro remained engaged in combat against Nefrava.
Morcant continued pressuring one of the Elementals, and Kareth, Nyra, and Valeria kept another one under pursuit. The remaining enemies were still desperately trying to find a way to survive.
Gorvak was dead.
One of the remaining Elementals had just fallen to Andarna, but the war was not over yet.
Yun Che slowly raised one hand, and the nearby undead immediately stopped moving and turned their eyes toward him.
The white mask remained motionless beneath the blue light of Andarna’s flames.
"Continue. I want every last one of them dead."
The words seemed simple, but for the legion of the dead, they were enough to continue the massacre to its bitter end.
The skeletons advanced once again. The eight undead generals resumed their pursuit, while the Knights of the Apocalypse continued their battles.
The two thousand skeletons advanced along the destroyed slopes, their empty eye sockets reflecting the flames scattered across the battlefield as they reaped the lives of their enemies.
The eight undead generals at the tenth level of the Profound Nascence were far more ferocious and brutal than they had been when alive. Their powerful blows claimed lives in the most violent ways possible.
The sky was covered in smoke. The mountains trembled with every explosion, and the smell of blood, burned stone, and spiritual energy filled the air.
In the center of that chaos, Yun Che remained standing still, while Ariselle watched everything happening beside him. The Queen didn’t need to ask who was winning.
She could sense everything that was happening.
The enemies were being slowly crushed, but a few powerful presences were still scattered across the battlefield.
Khoran.
Zarek.
Saro.
And the Elementals who were still fighting for their own survival.
Ariselle slowly curled her fingers.
"How much longer?"
Yun Che did not take his eyes off the battlefield.
"Not much longer."
The answer was simple and direct. Ariselle merely turned her beautiful eyes toward him.
"Are you so certain you can handle all of this without my help?"
"I am."
Yun Che paused briefly.
"The enemies have already lost their formation and numerical superiority. Now they’re only trying to survive."
The Queen turned her eyes back toward the battlefield. She knew he was right.
A battle could still be dangerous even when its outcome had practically been decided, but this war had already passed that point.
Now the enemies were being hunted, and the undead were the hunters.
Khoran tightened his grip on the hilt of his sword. The ground around him was covered in corpses, and blood flowed between the stones.
He breathed heavily as he kept his eyes fixed on the woman standing before him.
Valeria remained several meters away, her long blond hair partially covered in dust, but her expression remained calm.
Her crimson eyes remained cold.
Khoran slowly raised his enormous sword.
"You don’t seem tired, even after spending so much of your profound spiritual energy."
Valeria tilted her head slightly.
"That’s because the amount I’ve used so far is insignificant."
Khoran frowned.
"You’re bluffing."
