Chapter 129: 129 Lich

"Do you really think I’m bluffing? That’s because I don’t need to show everything I can do to deal with someone of your caliber."

The answer made Khoran grit his teeth. He had already understood that the creature standing before him was nothing like ordinary soldiers.

She didn’t fight with strength alone. She attacked at precisely the right moment.

Khoran charged.

BOOM!

His body disappeared. The enormous sword slashed through the air toward Valeria’s neck, but she subtly and gracefully twisted her body at the last instant.

The blade passed dangerously close to her hair.

Valeria retreated two steps. Khoran swung his sword again, and the second strike followed immediately.

Valeria transformed into dozens of bats.

SHING!

The sword cut through the dark cloud. The bats scattered in every direction as Khoran looked around.

"Coward! Show yourself!"

The bats disappeared. Valeria appeared behind him.

"Here I am."

A blood blade appeared in her hand. Khoran quickly turned around when he sensed the incoming attack.

CLANG!

His sword blocked the strike. The impact forced both of them to retreat. Khoran slid several meters backward, while Valeria landed gracefully.

He looked at his sword. A small mark had appeared on the metal, causing his eyes to narrow.

"You’re using blood as a weapon, but how can it possess such absurd cutting power?"

Valeria slowly ran her fingers through her hair.

"Finally, you’ve noticed."

Khoran gripped his sword with both hands.

"Then I’ll destroy you before you have the chance to use that devilish technique again."

Valeria smiled.

"I’m waiting. Show me what you can do."

Khoran roared like a beast as his profound spiritual energy exploded from his body, enhancing his strength and speed.

BOOOOOOM!

The ground beneath his feet cracked. He charged again, this time bringing his sword down with enough force to split a massive rock in half.

Valeria didn’t retreat. She raised her arm, causing an enormous blood blade to appear before her.

The two weapons collided.

CLAAAAANG!

The shock wave scattered dust dozens of meters in every direction. Khoran pushed forward, forcing Valeria to slide backward, then charged again as she continued retreating.

One strike. Then another. And another.

Khoran gave her no room to breathe. His enormous sword cut through the air in rapid succession, each strike heavier than the last.

Valeria blocked the first, dodged the second, and transformed into mist before the third. The blade passed straight through her body.

Khoran smiled.

"Got you."

The mist disappeared. Valeria appeared above him.

"No... No."

Khoran’s eyes widened once again. A blood spear descended from above, forcing him to raise his sword at the last instant.

CLANG!

The weapon pierced through his defense. Khoran was driven to his knees, and the impact created a small crater.

He tried to stand, but Valeria was already standing before him. Khoran raised his eyes.

"Damn you..."

Valeria maintained her cold gaze.

"It’s over for you."

Khoran roared and attempted to attack, but Valeria simply disappeared. His strike passed through empty air, and by the time he realized what had happened, a red blade was already piercing his body.

CRACK!

The Beastman’s body gave way. Valeria slowly withdrew the blade, and Khoran fell to his knees before collapsing onto his side, a hole in his chest and his eyes wide open until the very end.

The enormous sword slipped from his fingers. Valeria observed the corpse for several seconds.

"One less."

Then she turned around.

Elsewhere in the mountain range, Zarek continued fighting. His body was covered in cuts, and his heavy armor had lost several plates. Even so, he still held his weapon.

Standing before him was Eryon, the Lich, with his staff resting against the ground while hundreds of skeletons waited around them.

Zarek looked at them, then at Eryon.

"Don’t you fight? You coward, hiding behind your skeletons."

Eryon didn’t bother responding to the provocations and insults directed at him. Zarek, in turn, frowned.

"You’re just hiding behind your dead, you coward."

Eryon slowly raised his skull, revealing flames burning within his eye sockets.

"You’ve already destroyed many of my skeletons. Now it’s time to pay for that."

Zarek smiled.

"When I’m done with the skeletons, I’ll rip off that skull of yours and crush it myself."

"I’d like to see you try. Go ahead, if you have the ability."

Zarek’s smile disappeared.

"Watch closely."

Eryon tightened his grip on his staff.

"Let’s see how long you can endure my skeletons and the curses I’ve placed upon you."

Zarek roared, causing his profound spiritual energy to surge as he attempted to rid himself of the spells permeating his body.

BOOM!

He charged at the skeletons. The first row was destroyed, and so was the second. Zarek carved a path through them with heavy strikes, sending bones flying, crushing skulls, and tearing off arms.

But Eryon didn’t move from his position. Zarek continued advancing.

"I’ll reach you!"

Eryon raised his staff. The bones on the ground began to tremble, making Zarek stop.

The destroyed skeletons began to reconstruct themselves. A skull snapped back into place, an arm reattached to its body, and the ribs joined together.

Then they all stood up again.

"That can’t be..."

Eryon struck the ground with his staff.

"What can’t be? As long as my master and I possess profound spiritual energy, there’s no way to defeat our legion."

The skeletons advanced. Zarek roared and struck again, but now there were more of them. More and more.

Every time he destroyed one, another took its place. Zarek’s expression grew increasingly tense, his breathing became heavier, and his arm began to tremble.

Eryon watched him.

"Your body is reaching its limit. Even if my skeletons inflict little damage with each attack, when you add that to your exhaustion, you’ll die soon."

Zarek glared at him with hatred.

"I can still fight."

"Yes."

Eryon slowly nodded.

"But you cannot win."

Zarek charged one last time.

BOOM!

His attack destroyed a large number of skeletons. He finally reached Eryon and brought his sword down.

CLANG!

The staff blocked the strike. Zarek’s eyes widened, while Eryon remained motionless.

"You reached me. So what? Do you think I’m that fragile?"

Zarek smiled.

"You walking sack of bones, now die and take your skeletons with you."

Eryon tilted his head slightly.

"No."

A skeletal hand emerged from the ground. Then another, and another. Hundreds of hands grabbed Zarek’s legs as he struggled to free himself.

"Let me go!"
