Chapter 130: 130 The Death Of The Fire Elementals
130 The Death Of The Fire Elementals
Saro was covered in flames while Nefrava stood before him. The surrounding battlefield had transformed into an area of sand, fire, and glass scattered everywhere.
Stones had melted, and parts of the nearby trees had turned into charcoal and glass. Saro was breathing heavily, but Nefrava remained calm.
The black bandages wrapped around her body were partially burned. Saro looked at them.
"You’re getting weaker. It won’t be long before I reduce you to ashes."
Nefrava smiled.
"Really?"
"Keep smiling, you inferior creature. I’ll turn that unpleasant grin of yours to ashes."
"You’re far too arrogant. I was thinking of dealing with you calmly since my master told me to leave your corpses intact, but you’re practically begging me to tear you to pieces."
Saro clenched his fists. The flames around his body grew stronger as his profound spiritual energy increased.
"Inferior creature, let’s see who kills whom, then."
Nefrava looked into his eyes.
"Since you insist."
Saro raised an enormous pillar of fire and detonated it.
BOOOOOOM!
Nefrava disappeared into a cloud of sand, although part of her body was turned into glass. The fire swept through her position, and Saro quickly turned around.
Then he heard a voice behind him.
"Looking for something?"
Saro turned around. The bandages were wrapped around his arm, and he tried to burn them, but more appeared, one wrapping around his waist and another around his neck.
Saro unleashed an explosion of flames.
BOOM!
Part of the bandages was destroyed, and Nefrava appeared several meters behind him. Saro was breathing heavily.
"You can’t restrain me. I’m an Elemental."
"I don’t need to restrain you, you matchstick-headed fool."
The bandages began tightening. Saro’s eyes widened, and his body started losing its mobility.
Nefrava slowly advanced.
"I only need to stop you from moving."
Saro released all his profound energy. The flames grew stronger, and the bandages began to burn.
But Nefrava didn’t retreat. She raised both hands, and the sand around them began to rise.
Saro realized what was happening.
"No..."
A sandstorm filled with countless scarabs with sharp teeth engulfed them both. Their vision disappeared, and Saro tried to unleash fire, but the sand smothered the flames.
Nefrava appeared inside the storm. Her voice reached his ears.
"You burned the Medusa warriors to death, didn’t you?"
Saro looked around in fear and terror as the desert scarabs burrowed into his skin, devouring him from the inside out.
"I..."
"You slowly killed one of them with your flames, didn’t you?"
Nefrava’s voice remained calm.
"Now find out what it’s like to be unable to escape a certain death."
The bandages tightened. Saro roared, and his spiritual energy exploded one last time.
BOOOOOOM!
The sandstorm burst open, and several desert scarabs were immediately killed. Nefrava was thrown backward, while Saro fell to his knees.
For an instant, he believed he had succeeded. Then he realized that the bandages were still wrapped around his body, burning but holding firm.
Nefrava stood up. Her face had developed a few cracks, but she walked toward him.
Saro tried to stand, but his legs failed him. Part of them had been devoured by the scarabs. Nefrava stopped in front of him.
"This is the end of the line for you."
The bandages tightened again.
CRACK!
Saro became motionless. The flames surrounding his body disappeared, and Nefrava slowly released the strips of cloth. His body fell onto the sand. She continued staring at him for several seconds.
"Was that really all you had to show after displaying so much arrogance?"
Farther north, Morcant continued standing before another Elemental. The surrounding battlefield was almost unrecognizable. The fire had destroyed the trees, and smoke covered the sky.
The Elemental attacked repeatedly, but Morcant simply advanced. The flames passed through his body, and he didn’t stop.
The Elemental retreated.
"What are you? Why don’t my flames affect you?"
Morcant raised his head.
"I am the one who remains after you die, the one who claims your most precious possession."
The fissure in his chest opened, revealing tongues and tentacles, along with rows of sharp teeth. The Elemental felt his soul tremble and tried to retreat.
Morcant extended his hand.
"No."
The spiritual pressure struck his soul, and the Elemental fell to his knees.
"Get out of my head!"
"I’m not in your head."
Morcant approached him.
"I’m somewhere much deeper within your being."
The Elemental began to tremble. His flames lost their intensity, but he still tried to resist.
"I’m a Fire Elemental! How dare an inferior creature like you do this to me?"
Morcant stopped in front of him.
"That doesn’t matter."
The Soul Devourer’s hand touched his chest while its tongue and sticky tentacles wrapped around the Elemental. His body arched as a strange energy began to be ripped out of him.
He opened his mouth, but no sound came out. Then his flames disappeared, and his body fell lifeless, without a soul to sustain it. Morcant slowly closed the fissure in his own chest.
"Another soul at the tenth level of the Profound Realm. The taste isn’t bad."
In another region, the Elemental being pursued by Kareth, Nyra, and Valeria continued trying to escape. He ran between the rocks, his body wounded.
A spear had pierced his shoulder, and a blade had opened his abdomen. Even so, he still possessed enough energy to fight.
Kareth appeared before him, blocking his path with his sword.
CLANG!
The Elemental dodged, but Nyra appeared on the other side. Her spear thrust forward, forcing him to retreat.
Valeria appeared behind him, and a blade of blood cut through his leg, causing the Elemental to fall.
"You bastards! How dare you do this to someone as noble as me?!"
He exploded in flames.
BOOM!
Kareth, Nyra, and Valeria retreated. The Elemental seized the opening and tried to flee, but Kareth appeared before him again.
"No."
The sword descended. The Elemental blocked with fire while Kareth pressed forward.
"You’re not escaping."
The Elemental roared.
"I’m not dying here! You pieces of shit!"
Nyra attacked from the side. Her spear pierced his defense, and the Elemental screamed. Meanwhile, Valeria appeared above him, bringing down a blade of blood charged with a considerable amount of spiritual energy.
