132 A Rather Powerful Legion of Undead
Finally, it was over.
The wind swept through the mountain range, carrying the smell of blood, smoke, and scorched earth, while the last flames consumed the remains of the destroyed buildings.
Yun Che remained on the slope, observing the army before him.
Beastmen, Lizardmen, spiritual beasts, and ordinary soldiers lay scattered across the battlefield. Not a single enemy who had participated in the invasion remained alive.
Victory stood before his eyes, but Yun Che did not rush to celebrate. His white mask reflected the reddish light of the sky, and his black robes fluttered gently in the wind.
Before him, the dead who had once tried to destroy the Medusas now awaited his orders, transformed into a legion that had grown far beyond its original strength.
The six Knights of the Apocalypse stood in the front row. Eryon, the Lich, held his bone staff, his white hair contrasting with his black and gold robes.
The dark blue flames surrounding his body illuminated his empty eye sockets, while his calm posture revealed the same cold intelligence he had demonstrated during the battle.
Beside him, Valeria observed the ranks with her crimson eyes. The Vampire maintained her elegant and sinister appearance, and a thin mist of blood moved discreetly between her fingers before disappearing.
Kael, the Revenant, stood with his fists clenched, his 1.87-meter-tall body covered in scars and his dark armor marked by the battles he had fought.
His expression showed no exhaustion, only a willingness to fight again whenever he received an order.
Nefrava adjusted the bandages wrapped around her body. Some still bore burns caused by Saro’s flames, but the strips were slowly beginning to move again.
Morcant, the Soul Devourer, remained silent, the fissure in the center of his chest dark and motionless.
The last was Andarna.
The white-haired girl, wearing a dark blue dress and a thin blindfold over her eyes, held Yun Che’s hand. Despite the destruction around them, she continued to display childlike joy whenever she received her master’s attention.
Her true form, the gigantic Bone Dragon surrounded by bluish flames, had terrified the enemies during the war. Now, however, she seemed far more interested in staying close to him.
"Master, can we rest now?"
Yun Che tilted his head slightly.
"Not yet, Andarna. We still have a lot of work to do."
Andarna sighed, but squeezed his hand more tightly.
"Then I’ll help!"
"Of course, little girl. Your help will be indispensable."
He briefly placed his hand on her head before turning his attention back to the other undead.
Behind the Knights of the Apocalypse stood the fifteen enemy generals who had reached the tenth level of the Profound Nascence Realm. All of them were now undead and part of his legion.
Kareth, the Lizardwoman with dark blue scales and white hair tied behind her head, held the long sword she had used in battle.
Nyra, Veyra, and Drazek stood nearby, each retaining the weapon and appearance they had possessed in life.
Velka held her longbow, while Draven kept his heavy spear in hand. Seryn, the panther-like Beastwoman, retained her black fur and sharp claws.
Maeron, the wolf-like Beastman, had gray fur and two swords strapped to his back.
The other seven were also present: Gorvak, the gigantic bear-like Beastman, with his warhammer;
Khoran, who wielded an enormous sword; Zarek, covered in heavy armor; Tharok, with his double-headed axe; Shaara, with green eyes and a silent expression;
Varkhan, with his imposing posture; and Rhaena, who had retained her weapons and dark green scales.
None of them displayed pride or hostility. Their weapons remained in their hands, but their wills no longer belonged to them.
Yun Che had obtained something that living armies would find difficult to provide: experienced warriors capable of retaining the strength they had possessed in life, without fear of death or hesitation when carrying out their master’s orders.
Beside the generals stood the six Fire Elementals.
Rakan remained recognizable by his enormous, muscular body, red skin, and the small dark metallic plates covering his chest. His eyes resembled glowing embers.
Saro was thinner, with luminous cracks scattered across his body, from which small dark blue flames escaped.
The other four also retained their distinctive characteristics: a tall woman with long hair made of dark blue flames; a slender man whose heat distorted the air around him; an elegant woman surrounded by dark blue flames; and a robust man with hardened dark blue fire plates covering parts of his skin.
All of them had reached the tenth level of the Profound Nascence Realm in life. Now, the flames that had once devastated the Medusas’ territory were subject to Yun Che’s will.
Andarna tilted her head toward them.
"Master, they have dark blue flames like mine, but mine are stronger."
"Of course, Andarna. Your flames are stronger."
"Yayyyy!"
She answered immediately and returned to hugging his arm.
Yun Che surveyed the entire legion. The six Knights of the Apocalypse, the six Fire Elementals, and the fifteen generals made up twenty-seven undead at the tenth level of the Profound Nascence Realm.
Alongside them were another twenty-nine undead cultivators, all in the initial stages of the same realm.
Behind the ranks, two thousand skeletons waited in silence, with small flames glowing in their empty eye sockets. Eryon had summoned them during the battle, turning the enemies’ corpses into a force that did not need to breathe, rest, or feel fear.
Fifty-six undead cultivators. Two thousand skeletons.
Two thousand and fifty-six units under Yun Che’s command.
A trace of satisfaction appeared in his expression, although his mask concealed his face. He did not consider that legion merely a demonstration of strength.
It was a resource that could protect him in the future, but also a tool that needed to be used carefully.
The war was over. The Medusas, however, still needed to survive what remained of it.
"Eryon."
The Lich lowered his head.
"My master."
"Divide the twenty-nine cultivators in the initial stages into work groups. The generals and the Elementals will be responsible for the more difficult tasks. I want the rubble removed, the roads cleared, and all usable materials separated."
"As you wish."
Yun Che turned toward Kael.
