Ningzhou was right next to Ruizhou, less than eighty kilometers away.

After Hua Lvlan gave Li Yang the address, he drove to Ningzhou the very next day.

In fact, Ningzhou had always been developing well—even better than Ruizhou.

By the time Li Yang arrived, it was already noon.

Li Yang decided to grab a bite to eat before going to buy the pheasant chicks.

’These things aren’t exactly common. According to Hua Lvlan, this is the only place in the area that sells the chicks, and even then, they might not be willing to sell to him.’

’Was that really a thing?’

That was why Li Yang had rushed over.

’Who turns down business?’

After lunch, Li Yang headed to the Dongfeng Chicken Breeding Farm.

The farm was located not too far from the city, in what could be considered the suburbs.

He followed a sign and soon saw a massive farm up ahead.

Li Yang got out of his car and went inside.

Just as he entered, a worker glanced at him. "What do you want?"

"Hello, sir. I’m here to buy pheasant chicks..." Li Yang said quickly.

"Buying pheasant chicks?" The worker shook his head. "You should just leave. We’re not selling any more."

"Huh?" Li Yang was taken aback. "What do you mean, you’re not selling? I heard this is the place to buy them."

"We used to, but not anymore!" The worker seemed dejected. "Now hurry up and leave... Oh, right. Let me disinfect you."

With that, the worker stepped forward and, without another word, started spraying him with disinfectant.

"Sir, I’m really here to buy them. Where’s your boss? Can I please talk to her?" Li Yang asked, getting anxious.

"What’s there to ask? We’ve had an outbreak of chicken plague! All our pheasant chicks are infected. They’re not going to make it!" The worker glared at Li Yang, his anger fading into a bitter smile. "It’s not that I won’t let you see the boss. It’s just that it’s useless even if you do. We don’t even know if she can pay our wages."

Li Yang stood there, stunned and speechless.

"Go on, go on..." The worker waved Li Yang away. "Hurry and go."

"But I’m really here to buy the chicks..." Li Yang said loudly, feeling helpless.

But the worker wasn’t listening. He just turned and walked away.

Li Yang scratched his head in frustration.

Finally, he called Hua Lvlan. "They said there’s an outbreak of chicken plague at the farm. They’re not selling."

"What?" Hua Lvlan clearly hadn’t known. She was stunned for a second before replying, "Then you can’t buy from them. How about this: come back right away, and I’ll find you another place."

"Is there anywhere else?" Li Yang asked.

"The other places are much farther!" Hua Lvlan sounded frustrated as well. "Not many people raise these things. Just come back for now."

"Let me try talking to them a bit more..." Li Yang said after a moment’s thought.

"Hey, you can’t take diseased chicks!" Hua Lvlan said urgently. "It would be a complete waste of money!"

"No, it won’t be..." Li Yang insisted. "Don’t worry. It definitely won’t be a waste."

With that, Li Yang hung up.

Hua Lvlan was dumbfounded. ’I must have made a huge mistake this time,’ she thought, ’partnering with someone like him.’

’I’ve gone completely down the wrong path!’

Li Yang, however, was resolute. He had to meet the boss.

’Your chicks might be sick, but I have the cure.’

However, the worker wouldn’t let him in, and there was nothing he could do about it. After a moment’s thought, Li Yang drove back into town to buy some food, then returned to park outside the farm and wait in his car.

He waited until evening, around seven o’clock, when the workers had all gone home.

After finishing his food, it was nearly eight o’clock. He decided it was time to enter the farm.

The farm was enormous, but the main building was off to one side and easy to spot.

Li Yang headed toward a lighted area and arrived quickly.

He hesitated for a moment when he got there. Seeing the door wasn’t closed, he went inside.

The moment he stepped inside, however, he froze.

A woman with a stunning figure stood inside, completely naked and about to get dressed.

She had one foot inside a pair of panties and was bent over, her rear end pointed right at Li Yang.

From his vantage point, he had a perfect view of her most private area.

Li Yang was utterly transfixed.

The woman sensed something was amiss. She whipped her head around, saw him, and shrieked, "You... Who are you?!"

She scrambled to hide herself.

"It’s a misunderstanding..." Li Yang said hurriedly. "I’m so sorry! I just came here to buy chicks! I didn’t know you were changing! I’m so, so sorry..."

Li Yang backed away as he spoke.

The woman appeared to be in her late twenties. She was tall with delicate features—a true beauty.

A blush crept across her cheeks as she thought about the position he had just seen her in.

"Don’t you go anywhere! You just wait right there..."

Li Yang stepped outside, his face a mask of embarrassment.

’How was I supposed to know...? This is all just a huge misunderstanding.’
