Chapter 29: Chapter 30: I Am Willing to Take the Young Brother as My Master
He rushed to the hospital and asked for Han Qiuyue’s room.
When he got there, he found Qin Susu waiting outside the room.
"Let me tell you, if anything happens to my cousin, I’m holding you responsible!" Qin Susu snarled, stepping forward aggressively when she saw him arrive.
"Cut the crap!" Li Yang’s impression of her was terrible, so he snapped, "Where is she?"
"I’m in here!" Han Qiuyue’s weak voice called out.
Li Yang went inside and saw Han Qiuyue lying listlessly on the hospital bed, her face pale.
"What happened to you?" Li Yang stepped forward and asked. "This shouldn’t be happening."
"What do you mean, ’shouldn’t be happening’? It must be you, you quack doctor! You messed up and did this to my cousin!" Qin Susu was furious.
"It has nothing to do with him. It was my own fault," Han Qiuyue explained to Li Yang. "I’d been feeling fine lately, so I had some hot soup and ate some starchy food. It might have been indigestion..."
Li Yang understood immediately. Her illness had been gastrointestinal in nature. She had been on the verge of a full recovery, but she hadn’t given it time to solidify. Her recent actions had caused a relapse.
"I see. Okay, I’ll give you a few more needles," Li Yang said, nodding at her. "Lie still."
Han Qiuyue glanced at him. "Do... do I need to take off my clothes?"
"No, that’s not necessary," Li Yang said, shaking his head. "This is just a sudden flare-up. It won’t be like last time."
With that, he prepared to insert the needles.
"What do you think you’re doing!" At that moment, a loud shout came from behind them.
"Doctor, come quick! He’s just randomly sticking needles in my cousin!" Qin Susu yelled.
"What is this nonsense!" The doctor, furious and anxious, rushed forward and reprimanded Li Yang. "What needles? She’s about to go for an examination. We don’t need you here. Get out!"
"Doctor, it’s just a sudden gastrointestinal flare-up. I’ll insert a couple of needles and she’ll be fine," Li Yang explained earnestly.
"A couple of needles and she’ll be fine?" The doctor laughed in exasperation. "That’s hilarious. Why not just say one needle will fix everything? If you were really that good, would she even be in the hospital? Get out! Get out and stop spouting nonsense!"
"I’m not lying to you," Li Yang said patiently. "I had almost completely cured her. She’s only in the hospital because she ate the wrong things."
"Save it. I’m telling you, I can’t do anything about you quacks scamming people on the outside, but I won’t allow it in my hospital! Leave, now!"
"Doctor, he’s really not a fraud!" Han Qiuyue chimed in.
"Cousin, you don’t have to defend him. He’s just a con artist," Qin Susu said.
"That’s it, I’m definitely doing this now!" Li Yang’s temper flared. ’You don’t believe me, fine. But calling me a fraud? I can’t let that slide.’
So Li Yang swiftly inserted the needles.
Several needles went in one after another, without the slightest hesitation.
In a matter of moments, Li Yang removed the needles. "There. You’re fine now. You can check out of the hospital. I’ll prescribe some medicine for you to recuperate. In a week at most, you’ll be able to eat whatever you want."
"You!" The doctor was livid, pointing at Li Yang. "You’ll be held responsible for this! You’ll be held responsible!"
"Responsible for what?" At that moment, a voice came from behind them.
"Director!" The doctor saw an older, gray-haired physician and hurried over. "He was recklessly performing acupuncture and wouldn’t listen to reason. Please, talk to him."
The Director also looked displeased. He sized Li Yang up and down before speaking. "Young man, Chinese medicine is incredibly profound. At your age, you can’t have treated many patients. You can’t possibly grasp its mysteries. If you make a mistake with those needles, a life is at stake."
Hearing that the Director’s tone was reasonable, Li Yang patiently replied, "Director, I made no mistake. I’m the one who’s been treating her illness, so I understand it best. Besides, you can see for yourself. Isn’t she much better now?"
"Nonsense..." Qin Susu started to sneer, but when she turned her head, she was shocked to see that her cousin’s complexion had returned to normal, and she was even able to get out of bed.
"Director, I really do feel much better. In fact, I feel completely normal."
Han Qiuyue stood up and took a few steps, feeling no discomfort whatsoever.
The Director was stunned, his face a mask of astonishment.
The other doctor was dumbfounded as well.
"You... Young man, what technique did you use?" This time, the Director dared not underestimate him.
"Director, he just got lucky," the other doctor muttered from behind.
"What technique..." Li Yang thought for a moment. The name of the technique he’d used flashed through his mind, and he answered casually, "Oh, it’s nothing special. Just a type of acupuncture technique called the Golden Gate Acupuncture Technique. You’ve probably never heard of it."
"Who says he wouldn’t know!" the doctor fumed. "Our Director Jin is the top traditional Chinese medicine specialist in all of Ruizhou..."
Before he could finish, Director Jin strode forward, grabbed Li Yang’s arm, and said breathlessly, "I’ve heard of it... I’ve heard of the Golden Gate Acupuncture Technique! I read about it in an ancient text, but it was said to have been lost to time. I can’t believe you know it, young man! Could you teach me? I’m willing to become your student!"
What? Everyone present was completely dumbfounded.
