Chapter 306 -307: Young Master Jin’s Dirty Deeds

They were meeting at a teahouse. When Li Yang arrived, He Zinan was already there, having ordered a table full of snacks.

He Zinan smiled slightly when she saw Li Yang arrive.

“Hello, Miss He…” Li Yang said, stepping forward to greet her.

“Don’t be so formal…” He Zinan said, shaking her head. “You can just call me Sister He.”

“Sister He,” Li Yang said with a nod.

He Zinan’s smile grew wider. Only then did she say, “This is the intel we dug up on Quan’an Group. Take a look.”

As she spoke, He Zinan handed a file to Li Yang.

Li Yang took one look, and his expression changed drastically.

“They… murder?” Li Yang asked, his voice filled with a lingering dread.

“Mm-hmm.” He Zinan, however, seemed completely unfazed. She began to explain, “Don’t think for a second that these business types are clean. That’s impossible. When a company gets to a certain size, it’s because they’ve fought their way there. Quan’an Group started out as just a small-time vegetable wholesaler. Later, they got lucky. Their boss, Jin Laili, timed his moves perfectly, incorporated the company, and slowly expanded. Now, they own several planting bases and can be considered a fairly large corporation in this area. They have a lot of influence here. But the reason they were able to become what they are today… well, they really have another group to thank for it.”

“Wuming Group. Before all this, they were Quan’an Group’s largest supplier, providing goods to all the major retailers. If Quan’an Group wanted to expand, they only had one path: defeat Wuming Group. And wouldn’t you know it, just as they were about to face off in the business world, the owner of Wuming Group, Xu Wuming, died. A sudden and bizarre death!”

“Once Xu Wuming died, his son, Xu Shan—supposedly the only witness—had a complete mental breakdown. The boy is only sixteen and is still in a psychiatric hospital. Without their leader, the rest of the company was in disarray and Quan’an Group quickly picked them apart. In the end, they were completely absorbed, becoming nothing more than a stepping stone for Quan’an Group’s rise to power.”

“The crux of the matter is Xu Wuming’s death. He was in the prime of his life; how could he just suddenly drop dead? The story goes that Xu Shan must have seen something. And his supposed madness… he was probably beaten into that state. Some people even heard him muttering that someone had killed his dad. But since he’s just a ‘madman,’ a ‘lunatic,’ nobody believed him. No one dared to trust his words.”

…

After hearing He Zinan’s explanation, Li Yang knew what he had to do.

‘Damn it. Quan’an Group… so you want to play dirty with me, do you? Fine. I’m done playing nice.’

“So where is he?” Li Yang asked directly. “Where is Xu Shan? Come on, let’s go see him.”

“Alright,” He Zinan said with a small smile. “But first, you have to help me finish all this food.”

“Deal!”

…

After they finished eating, the two of them drove to the city’s psychiatric hospital.

“Quan’an Group’s operations aren’t just limited to our city anymore; they’re elsewhere too. But they definitely got their start here. If they hadn’t played so dirty, Xu Wuming would probably be the one on top right now. You know, Xu Wuming was a wealthy man in his day, had his moment in the sun. But after his death, his son gets sent to a place like this… It’s very possible he’ll never see the light of day again.”

As she said this, He Zinan shook her head.

Because they had made an appointment, they were able to see Xu Shan quickly.

Xu Shan looked to be about fifteen or sixteen, but whether it was due to his mental condition or his diet, he was nothing but skin and bones.

He stood there, looking at Li Yang and He Zinan with a frightened expression.

“Stay right there! Don’t move!” an orderly barked at Xu Shan.

The terror on Xu Shan’s face intensified, and he looked as though he might break down at any moment.

He Zinan couldn’t bear to see it and said in a gentle voice, “My name is He Zinan. I’m here to see you.”

But Xu Shan showed no reaction, only staring at them with a look of dread.

“What are you holding?” Just then, Li Yang noticed Xu Shan was clutching something in his hand and asked out of curiosity.

Xu Shan frantically shook his head.

The orderly came over and snatched it from his hand. “Throwing out your medicine again? Do you have a death wish…?”

“Don’t…” Xu Shan begged, cowering and covering his head in fear.

Li Yang stepped forward and said to the orderly with a smile, “He’s just a kid, and he’s not well. There’s no need for that, is there? Won’t it just make his condition worse?”

“Cut the crap,” the orderly said with a cold chuckle. “Let me tell you, the only reason I’m even letting you see him is because you paid. If you don’t have any other business, then get out. Stop bothering us.”

Li Yang’s eyes narrowed.

He Zinan tugged on Li Yang’s sleeve, signaling him not to waste his breath on the orderly.

“Then let me see that medicine,” Li Yang said with a smile, holding out his hand.

The orderly’s expression was guarded. “What’s there to see? The patients here have to take medication regularly to calm their moods…”

“But this medicine doesn’t look like a tranquilizer, does it?” Li Yang said, smiling cheerfully.

A panicked look flashed across the orderly’s face. “What… what nonsense are you spouting? Get out! Get out right now!”
