Chapter 310 -311: Out of Your Reach

Call it quits?

Li Yang laughed out loud. “Boss Jin, you’ve got to be kidding me. You kept our shop from opening for days, and now you expect me to just back off? Why should I?”

“I’ll give you…!” Jin Laili knew he couldn’t get away without paying a hefty price. “I’ll give you money. Just let us go, please… really…”

Li Yang stood up and said coldly, “Then you can just wait. Maybe someday my heart will soften, and I’ll let you off the hook. Actually, no, that’s not right. This matter has nothing to do with me anymore. You’re the ones who committed murder. It has nothing to do with me.”

With that, Li Yang pushed the door open and left.

“I…” With a wretched gasp, Jin Laili spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

“Old Jin…” the woman cried, rushing forward in terror.

“I never should have…” Jin Laili’s eyes widened. “Never should have crossed him!”

With those words, his legs gave out, and he passed out cold.

“Old Jin…” the woman shrieked.

Li Yang shook his head. ‘You’ve done so much evil, this is just what you deserve. If you hadn’t been so wicked, you wouldn’t have ended up like this. All in all, you reap what you sow.’

Li Yang was in a good mood after he left.

He finally felt vindicated.

He took out his phone and called He Zinan. “Miss He, thank you so much.”

He Zinan just smiled and shook her head. “Don’t mention it. There’s no need to thank me. I’m just glad you’re all right. I was only repaying a favor.”

Li Yang smiled and hung up.

Just as he stepped outside, he saw a stretch Lincoln pull up in front of him.

Several burly men stepped out. One of them spoke, “Mr. Li, please come with us.”

Li Yang raised an eyebrow.

“Our Mr. He requests your presence.” The man was surprisingly polite.

‘He Tianba?’

Li Yang was a little surprised, but he quickly got in his own car and followed them.

Meanwhile, several other men in black arrived at Jin Laili’s home.

“Who are you?” the woman asked, looking at them in terror.

One of the burly, black-clad men walked up to Jin Laili and said nonchalantly, “Apologies for this.”

As he spoke, a knife appeared in his hand, and he plunged it into Jin Laili’s leg.

“AGH…” Jin Laili had been unconscious, but the searing pain jolted him awake. “You…”

“From now on, it would be best if you didn’t provoke Mr. Li again,” the man said with a faint smile. “Otherwise, next time, it might not be as simple as just crippling one of your legs.”

“I won’t! I won’t ever again…” Jin Laili shrieked. “I won’t…”

The man in black said nothing more. With a wave of his hand, he and his men quickly departed.

Meanwhile, Li Yang had been brought to a teahouse.

There were no other customers inside.

He Tianba sat at one of the tables, apparently waiting for Li Yang’s arrival.

Li Yang raised an eyebrow and walked over. “Mr. He.”

He Tianba glanced at Li Yang, then smiled. “You’re here. Please, sit.”

He Tianba looked incredibly robust now, a far cry from his appearance when they first met.

It was clear that He Tianba was a man long accustomed to being in power. Even though he was just sitting there, he exuded an invisible aura of authority. An ordinary person would likely be too intimidated to even approach him.

Li Yang, however, was unfazed. His impression of He Tianba wasn’t exactly positive.

“I’ve already found the person who poisoned me,” He Tianba said with a smile, pouring Li Yang a cup of tea. “Speaking of which, I have you to thank for that, Mr. Li. You’re the reason I was able to find them.”

Li Yang gave a slight smile but didn’t respond.

“I asked you here today to thank you properly,” He Tianba said. “You saved both me and my daughter. No matter what, I must thank you. I, He Tianba, am a man who abides by the code of the Jianghu.”

Li Yang remained silent.

He knew this wasn’t the main point. He Tianba wanted to say something else.

Sure enough, after saying this, He Tianba pulled a case out from under the table. “Here’s two million,” he said nonchalantly. “Consider it a token of my gratitude for saving my daughter and me.”

Li Yang raised an eyebrow.

“Mr. He, that won’t be necessary,” he finally said, refusing the offer. “I have a principle: I don’t accept money for treating patients and saving lives.”

“You will take this money,” He Tianba said with a chuckle, dismissing Li Yang’s principles. “I have a principle of my own: I always repay my debts. I don’t like owing people favors.”

Li Yang’s brows furrowed. “But I truly cannot accept money.”

“I don’t care about that,” He Tianba said flatly. “When I give money, I don’t take it back. It’s as simple as that.”

Li Yang narrowed his eyes.

“And one more thing. Stay away from my daughter from now on,” He Tianba said coolly. “Do you know who I am?”

Li Yang’s expression darkened.

“The entire underground Jianghu south of the provincial capital is practically in the palm of my hand,” He Tianba declared, his arrogance on full display. “I don’t want my daughter getting involved with you. She is out of your league.”
