Chapter 331: Clash

Wen Ru’s expression was normal, showing no change, as if she had expected this all along.

She stood up gracefully and went out.

“Gather the boys!” Lu Da said viciously. “I want to make sure he doesn’t leave the provincial capital alive!”

His lackeys quickly went to carry out his orders.

Li Yang returned to a hotel—in fact, the very same one he had just checked out of—and got another room.

He had been planning to leave, but now he didn’t want to. He had to resolve the situation here.

Lu Da’s ruthlessness had exceeded his expectations. Even if he left now, knowing Lu Da’s character, the man would probably hunt him all the way back to his village. Rather than let that happen, it was better to settle things here once and for all.

As for how to resolve it… Li Yang was waiting.

In truth, he could feel someone following him from the moment he stepped outside, but Li Yang didn’t care.

About an hour after he entered his room, there was a knock on the door.

He opened the door to see Wen Ru standing there, dressed in a tight-fitting outfit.

“Divine Doctor Li, do you need me to sleep with you?” Wen Ru’s commanding presence from their first meeting was completely gone, replaced by a seductive expression as she asked the question.

Li Yang welcomed her in and looked at her.

The moment she was inside, Wen Ru’s expression changed completely. “Lu Da wants to kill you,” she said coldly.

“And you want to kill Lu Da?” Li Yang countered.

Wen Ru’s eyes narrowed as she looked at Li Yang. ‘How interesting.’

“Where are the Little Gangster Girl and Glasses Guy?” Li Yang ignored her look, instead asking nonchalantly, “I’m sure your boss must be thinking about how to kill them. And I trust they’re already in your hands.”

“You’re very clever,” Wen Ru said coldly.

“Not really…” Li Yang shook his head. “I’ve just been screwed over before, so now I’m a little more cautious.”

“You did it on purpose?” Wen Ru asked. “Were you creating an opportunity for me?”

Li Yang smiled, then nodded seriously. “You warned me before. Back then, I was thinking, ‘You’re Lu Da’s woman, so why would you warn me?’ There could only be one explanation: you want to kill Lu Da, too, right? If Lu Da had just seen me off, none of your messy affairs would have been my business, and I wouldn’t have been interested in getting involved. But he wanted to play rough with me, so now I have to play along. Of course, I should make one thing clear first: I don’t like killing people myself. So for this matter, I’ll have to borrow your knife.”

“I’m a little curious. What if I hadn’t come to you?” Wen Ru was shocked internally, but her face remained perfectly calm. “If I wasn’t what you expected, what would you have done?”

“Maitreya,” Li Yang said calmly. “Maitreya dared to poison him, which means Maitreya wants him dead, too. If I were to give Maitreya a potent poison now, I’m sure he would accept it.”

Wen Ru stared at Li Yang, her heart pounding with shock.

‘This man is ruthless!’

“Looks like I’ve hit the nail on the head a few times. By the way, he sent you to seduce me, right?” Li Yang chuckled.

‘I’m actually kind of looking forward to this. Go on, try and seduce me. I’ve never been with a woman so beautiful and domineering before.’

Wen Ru sneered, “That’s right.”

“Seems he’s not that fond of you after all…” Li Yang shook his head and sighed. “Let’s go. Lose the people he has tailing us. Then you can take me to the Little Gangster Girl and Glasses Guy. I’ll heal them for you, and then they can work for you.”

Wen Ru was stunned yet again. “You… you planned all of this from the start?”

Li Yang just smiled and said nothing.

The two of them disguised themselves and left the hotel.

Once outside, Wen Ru got into a car and drove Li Yang to a motel.

The motel looked very rundown. Inside, they saw the Little Gangster Girl and Glasses Guy lying there, their faces filled with hatred.

The moment they saw Li Yang enter, the two of them shot up, glaring at him with murderous intent.

‘It was all his fault. If it weren’t for Li Yang, we wouldn’t have ended up like this.’

“What, you still don’t know what it feels like to die?” Li Yang pulled over a chair and sat down.

Startled, the two of them immediately wiped the vicious looks from their faces.

“I did it on purpose…” Li Yang said flatly. “I don’t like it when people constantly antagonize me, so I used their hands to cripple you. I just wanted to teach you something: the next time you see me, be more respectful. Otherwise, I have a hundred ways to make you wish you were dead.”

The Little Gangster Girl thought about Li Yang’s methods—even their own boss had fallen into his trap—and a chill ran down her spine.

‘It seems I’m really no match for him.’

“I can heal your injuries right now, so you’ll be exactly as you were before. But first, I have to ask you one thing: are you willing to follow her?”

He pointed a finger at Wen Ru, who stood silently in the darkness.

Wen Ru remained in the shadows, not saying a word.

The fact that Wen Ru had stepped in to save these two meant she already had the intention of recruiting them.
