The Supreme Village Doctor

Chapter 337: Warning

Xiao Zhen sat there in a daze for a long time without moving. After several long minutes, she finally stood up, her expression a little grim.

In the end, she just sighed.

After Li Yang left, he planned to head back to Chaling.

But not long after he stepped outside, a black car pulled up in front of him.

The car stopped, and an old man got out.

Li Yang’s expression changed slightly when he saw him.

It was Uncle Chai.

When Uncle Chai saw Li Yang, he grinned. “Dr. Li, I didn’t expect you to come to the provincial capital without letting me know. We still haven’t properly thanked you for saving the young miss last time.”

For some reason, even though Uncle Chai was smiling, Li Yang felt a chill.

“You’re too kind, Uncle Chai,” Li Yang said lightly. “I came here to treat a friend, so I didn’t want to disturb you. As for saving Miss Xiao… I only did it for Miss Zhao’s sake. After all, Miss Zhao and I are friends, right?”

Uncle Chai chuckled. “Regardless, we are still grateful… However, you don’t need to trouble yourself with Miss Xiao’s illness any longer. Our Xia Family has plenty of divine doctors to handle it. So please… don’t prescribe any more medicine for our young miss in the future.”

Li Yang raised an eyebrow. “Alright, I understand.”

Uncle Chai smiled. “Then I thank you for your understanding, Divine Doctor Li. By the way, if you come to the provincial capital again, you’re welcome to be a guest at our Xia Family home. If you don’t come, well, we’ll come and invite you ourselves. After all, there’s nothing in the provincial capital that the Xia Family doesn’t know about.”

This sentence was a complete threat.

Li Yang naturally caught the underlying meaning, and anger slowly began to rise within him.

“Sure!” Li Yang also broke into a smile. “Come to think of it, I’ve been wanting to pay your Xia Family a visit. How about this? Next time I have a moment, I’ll drop by the Xia Family home for some fun. But I do hope the Xia Family will actually welcome me.”

“But of course!” Uncle Chai said with a smile. “I’ll be taking my leave now.”

Li Yang nodded. “I’m leaving too.”

And with that, Li Yang really did leave.

Uncle Chai watched until Li Yang’s figure disappeared before getting back into the car.

Inside the car, a young man of about thirty had been sitting there the whole time. He had heard every single word of their conversation.

“Young Master, he’s a clever one,” Uncle Chai said as soon as he got in the car. “He deliberately mentioned that Miss Zhao is his friend to warn us not to make any rash moves against them. Tsk tsk, for someone so young to be that calculating, it’s quite something.”

Third Young Master Xia, still sitting, said disdainfully, “A country bumpkin with a bit of worldly wisdom. It’s nothing special. If it weren’t for the Zhao Family’s sake, I would have had him killed this time. How dare he interfere in my, Third Master Xia’s, business.”

Uncle Chai smiled faintly. “Third Young Master Xia, no need to rush. I expect that after this, he won’t dare to come back here, much less recklessly prescribe medicine for Miss Xiao. You can rest assured.”

Third Young Master Xia sneered, “Even so, I just don’t like the look of him…”

At this, Uncle Chai didn’t know what to say.

“Alright, let’s head back for now,” Third Young Master Xia said coldly. “If he dares to make another move, just kill him.”

“Understood!”

…

After disappearing from their line of sight, Li Yang immediately moved to a spot where they couldn’t see him, his expression instantly turning dark.

‘Clearly, these guys must have followed Xiao Zhen here.’

‘Otherwise, there’s no way they would have known I was here.’

If they hadn’t done anything, Li Yang wouldn’t have thought much of it.

He and Xiao Zhen weren’t even what you’d call regular friends; they had only met a few times.

Besides, Li Yang felt he had treated Xiao Zhen well. He had already saved her once. The reason he came to warn her this time was because the card she gave him contained ten million. Li Yang couldn’t just accept such a huge gift without reciprocating.

But what Li Yang did was limited to helping cure her illness, a simple act of returning a favor.

But now, the Xia Family had come out of nowhere to threaten him, and that was something Li Yang couldn’t tolerate.

‘I’m not particularly interested in what’s going on between your Xia Family and Xiao Zhen, but the more you act like this, the more curious I get. What kind of grudge do they have against Xiao Zhen to make her suffer like this?’

‘Also, since you’re planning to make a move on me, I need to be prepared. Otherwise, when you do act, I won’t even know how to fight back.’

After some thought, Li Yang immediately called Shen Xu. “Officer Shen, I’m in the provincial capital right now. I need you to help me investigate someone. Do you have any contacts here?”

Shen Xu asked in surprise, “Who do you want to investigate?”

“Xiao Zhen!” Li Yang said seriously. “Can you help me look into her background? See what her family history is. If you can, please investigate for me. I want to see what you find.”

“Alright, just wait. I’ll find someone in the provincial capital, and I’ll get back to you.”

“Great!”

Shen Xu was fast. It wasn’t long before she called Li Yang back. “Go to the Gaoxin District Bureau in the provincial capital and find an archives administrator named Gao Jin. He has the information you need.”

“Thank you so much!” Li Yang was overjoyed and quickly hung up to head for the Gaoxin District Bureau.
