The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 336: Meeting Xiao Zhen
“Kill him!” Maitreya snarled, seeing the situation spiral out of his control.
The young man sneered. ‘Since you’re so eager to die, I’ll be happy to oblige!’
He flickered in front of Li Yang and the others, ready to strike.
But the moment he got to Li Yang, Li Yang caught him.
CRACK!
His hand was in Li Yang’s grasp, and with a gentle twist…
The young man screamed in agony. The bones in his hand were broken.
Li Yang followed up with a kick.
THUD!
The young man collapsed to the ground, unable to get back up.
Maitreya’s face paled. He quickly backed away several steps. “Everyone, together! Kill them for me!”
But the Little Gangster Girl and the others had already recovered from the poison. “Let’s get them!” she roared.
Seething with rage, they prepared to charge.
But Li Yang just smiled at Mo Qi. “With this many people, a fight would certainly be a sight to see. Or, how about this? You poison Maitreya and his men. That way, we can avoid a messy brawl, and I’ll give the antidote back to you. How does that sound?”
“You dare!” Maitreya roared.
But Mo Qi was a ruthless man. He knew better than anyone that nothing was more important than his own life.
By the time Li Yang had finished speaking, Mo Qi had already released his poison.
Soon, Maitreya’s men began to collapse one by one.
“You…” Maitreya clutched at his throat. ‘How on earth did he poison us?’ he wondered.
But it was too late to stop the poison from taking hold.
Moments later, Maitreya was lying on the ground.
“Save me…” Only then did Maitreya realize who he was dealing with. He began to beg Li Yang. “Save me! I can give you things they can’t! Please, save me…”
Li Yang chuckled and shook his head. “Sorry, but I’m really not interested in you at all.”
With that, he clapped his hands and tossed the antidote back to Mo Qi. “I hope I never see you again. If I do, you’ll regret it.”
“You won’t!” Mo Qi, thoroughly shaken, took the antidote and left without another word.
Li Yang glanced at the scene, shook his head, and turned to leave as well.
Wen Ru hurried to catch up. “Thank you,” she said to Li Yang.
Li Yang shook his head dismissively. “Don’t mention it. I just don’t like leaving loose ends.”
Wen Ru said calmly, “That may be your reason, but today I owe you a favor. I will repay it one day.”
Li Yang was unconcerned. “Alright. I’ll see you around, then. I have to go.”
Wen Ru nodded.
After settling things in the provincial capital, Li Yang planned to head back to Chaling to buy more seeds. But on second thought, he decided to call Zhao Xuechu.
“Miss Zhao, Xiao Zhen is in the provincial capital, right? Could you give her a call for me? Tell her I’m in town too and would like to meet.”
Zhao Xuechu was startled. “What are you doing in the provincial capital? You… you have to be careful.”
The Xia Family had most likely found out about Li Yang using clematis root on Xiao Zhen. Since the provincial capital was the Xia Family’s stronghold, Zhao Xuechu was naturally worried.
“It’s fine. I’ve only been here for a couple of days,” Li Yang said. “Don’t worry. Just ask her to meet me. Tell her I’ll be waiting for her at… right, on the third floor of Tiansu Tea House.”
“Okay!”
Li Yang went to Tiansu Tea House, ordered some tea and pastries, and settled in to wait.
After some time, he finally saw Xiao Zhen arrive.
Upon seeing him, Xiao Zhen raised an eyebrow. She seemed a little nervous. “You scumbag, what are you doing here?”
Li Yang glanced at her. “Didn’t you say you were giving me one million? So why was there ten million on that card? I’m here to give you back the money.”
“If I gave it to you, then just keep it!” Xiao Zhen sat down reluctantly. “What’s ten million? Isn’t my life worth that much?”
For a moment, Li Yang was actually speechless.
“What are you doing in the provincial capital?” Xiao Zhen asked irritably. “Do you think the people from the Xia Family are easygoing or something? Uncle Chai already told Uncle Xia about you recklessly treating me last time. If I hadn’t talked him down, he would have already come looking for you to settle the score.”
“Was I being reckless?” Li Yang asked calmly.
“How should I know? I’m just a normal person, what would I know about all that!” Xiao Zhen said, feigning indifference.
Li Yang raised an eyebrow. ‘I really can’t figure Xiao Zhen out. Is she really this nonchalant?’
“I’ll hold onto the money for you. When you come back to town, I’ll return it. I also wanted to tell you I’ve found more of the clematis root. If you come back, I can brew the medicine for you. Just make sure you avoid the Xia Family, drink it, and your illness should basically be cured.”
Xiao Zhen flinched, but quickly forced a laugh. “There’s nothing wrong with me. Besides, even if there were, why would I trust some village doctor over my own physicians? Do you think I’m an idiot?”
Her retort left Li Yang at a loss for words. After a moment, he said, “It’s your life. I can’t make the decision for you. Anyway, it’s up to you. I’ve said all I have to say.”
With that, Li Yang stood up and left.
