Chapter 348: Defeating Zhang Qiang

The crowd froze, staring at Liu Mingzhang in confusion.

‘From the looks of it, they actually know each other?’

“Divine Doctor?” Li Yang chuckled and looked at Liu Mingzhang. “Dr. Liu, you flatter me. What kind of Divine Doctor am I? They’re about to kick me out of the field of traditional Chinese medicine.”

Liu Mingzhang flew into a rage. He whipped his head around to face Zhang Qiang. “The person you were talking about is Divine Doctor Li?”

Zhang Qiang was a bit stunned, but he quickly composed himself. “Divine Doctor Liu, is something wrong?”

“Bullshit!” Liu Mingzhang roared. “Divine Doctor Li’s medical skills are unparalleled! Why would he need to spread rumors? It must be that your herbs aren’t selling well, and he saw right through you.”

Besides, Liu Mingzhang wasn’t an idiot. With Li Yang’s earth-shattering medical skills, why would he bother slandering a small-time trading market?

Furthermore, Liu Mingzhang was well aware that some shady deals went down in this trading market.

It was just an open secret that no one acknowledged, but that didn’t mean they approved.

But now that Li Yang was the one they had offended, he certainly wasn’t going to side with Zhang Qiang anymore.

Zhang Qiang’s expression changed. ‘This… It looks like Liu Mingzhang isn’t on my side anymore.’

But he was a man of some standing and immediately plastered on a smile. “My apologies. Perhaps there’s been some kind of misunderstanding. How about this, Divine Doctor Liu? I’ll investigate further. I was reckless this time. I was too reckless. My apologies, Divine Doctor Li…”

SLAP!

The moment he finished speaking, Li Yang slapped him across the face.

Shen Xu, who was with Li Yang, didn’t say a word, but she was seething with rage inside.

Zhang Qiang’s shamelessness had thoroughly infuriated her.

When Li Yang slapped him, for the first time, she felt it was an excellent blow—incredibly satisfying and cathartic.

Zhang Qiang was stunned by the slap. He was still clutching his face, unable to react, when Li Yang spoke. “This isn’t a misunderstanding anymore. I hit you on purpose.”

The other Divine Doctors stared, dumbfounded, looking at Li Yang in disbelief.

‘This young man… Does he have such a fiery temper?’

“You…” Zhang Qiang couldn’t keep his composure any longer. He said sharply, “What do you think you’re doing? You dare hit me…”

“Divine Doctor Liu!” Li Yang ignored Zhang Qiang and said to Liu Mingzhang, “May I make a request?”

“Of course!” Liu Mingzhang said earnestly. “Please, go ahead.”

“Aren’t you the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association? You should have business dealings with their Herbal Medicine Association, right? You can go back and announce that they sell fake medicine here and scam people. Tell the other merchants to stop doing business with them.”

“You can’t do that!” Zhang Qiang’s face turned pale. “What right do you have to say that?”

Divine Doctor Du and a few others also spoke up. “Lao Liu, who is this person? Why are you siding with him?”

“Yeah!”

…

Facing the skepticism from his colleagues, Liu Mingzhang looked at them and slowly began to speak. “You don’t know who he is, do you? Very well. Earlier, I treated your muscle spasms, didn’t I, Lao Du? Do you know where I learned that skill?”

“Where?” Divine Doctor Du’s eyes lit up as he recalled how comfortable he felt after Liu Mingzhang’s massage earlier.

“It was this Divine Doctor Li who taught me,” Liu Mingzhang said seriously. “In a way, he is half a master to me. Not only are his medical skills sublime, but he is also kind and generous. He was willing to teach me such a unique technique. Would a man like that lie to harm others?”

Everyone was astonished.

Just a while ago, a dozen or so of them from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association had been exchanging notes, and Liu Mingzhang had shown off a new technique he’d learned. Divine Doctor Du had been suffering from some muscle spasms lately, so he let Liu Mingzhang give it a try.

After that one treatment, Divine Doctor Du’s problem was completely gone.

They were astounded by the god-like skill and had been asking nonstop about the technique.

They never would have imagined that the person who taught Liu Mingzhang was this young man standing right before them.

“Therefore…” Liu Mingzhang looked at them and said, “There is only one possibility here: Chairman Zhang is lying.”

The others all nodded in agreement.

Healing methods like this were often secret techniques. Although it’s said that a healer should have a benevolent heart, very few were actually willing to share their knowledge. Many would only pass down their skills to their disciples on their deathbeds.

This had caused many unique skills to be lost to time. But look at Li Yang—he had only met Liu Mingzhang by chance, yet he was willing to teach him this technique. What kind of character must a person have to do something like that?

In comparison, Zhang Qiang was just a piece of scum.

“I…” Zhang Qiang was dumbfounded and now filled with immense regret. “Divine Doctor Li, I… I really didn’t know! This is just a misunderstanding…”

Li Yang said coldly, “A misunderstanding, my ass!”

“As of today, our cooperation is canceled,” Liu Mingzhang said seriously.

The Herbal Medicine Association often did business with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Association, as the latter would recommend their herbs to major clinics. If they lost such a major supporter, both their reputation and their business would suffer greatly.

Soon, many members of the Herbal Medicine Association heard about the incident. Before long, a group of them arrived at the office.

Liu Mingzhang explained the situation to them, and they understood immediately.

“Chairman Liu…” one of the vice-chairmen stepped forward. “This is our fault. We will clean house. But if we sever our cooperation just like this, the losses will be too great for us. It’s not easy for the herb farmers either. How about this? We promise to supply high-quality goods, and… we’ll replace the chairman. Then, we can renew our cooperation.”
