‘Something’s fishy!’

Li Yang finally felt like he was uncovering something. He immediately smiled and said, “Is it really that mysterious?”

“It is a bit strange!” Liu Mingzhang thought for a moment before speaking. “The Xia Family has always maintained a medical team, but no one has ever known where they came from. Absolutely no one in our province recognizes these people.”

Li Yang grew even more curious. “What kind of team is it?”

“Nobody knows!” Liu Mingzhang gave a bitter smile. “Their Miss Xiao Zhen has always been in poor health. This team was put together for Miss Xiao. Speaking of which, the Xia Family is pretty decent, aren’t they? They adopted Miss Xiao back then and even set her up with such a medical team. That’s quite something.”

The others nodded one after another.

Li Yang, however, was sneering inwardly. ‘Pretty decent?’

‘I think this Xia Family is up to something.’

“I heard that their Third Young Master Xia also suffered a serious illness before, right around the time of the Xiao Family fire. Then they adopted Miss Xiao, and only after that did the story about them retaining a medical team come out. And I also heard that those people might have been invited from the Southwest, and their practices are somewhat different from our traditional Chinese medicine.”

The others thought for a moment, but no one spoke.

“Alright…” Liu Mingzhang said with a smile. “These matters don’t have anything to do with us. It’s fine for us to chat about it amongst ourselves, but don’t spread it around.”

The others then came to their senses and quickly said, “That’s right, that’s right. This is just a private chat between us. We won’t speak of it elsewhere.”

Obviously, the Xia Family wasn’t a topic to be discussed casually. The people here were all highly self-aware.

Li Yang had heard enough. In any case, it seemed these people probably didn’t know much more.

But Li Yang could now be certain of one thing: that Third Young Master Xia had also suffered a major illness, and it was right around the time of the Xiao Family fire.

‘Now this was getting interesting.’

After the meal, the guests all began to leave.

Li Yang and Shen Xu said their goodbyes to each of them before heading downstairs.

“Why are you so curious about this?” Shen Xu looked at Li Yang strangely. “I’m advising you not to get involved in this matter.”

“Why?” Li Yang asked curiously.

“Why?” Shen Xu said, exasperated. “Didn’t you hear them? The Xia Family!”

Li Yang thought for a moment and said, “That Xiao Zhen… she’s a good person.”

As he said it, even Li Yang himself seemed a bit unconvinced.

But thinking carefully about Xiao Zhen, her only real fault was her sharp tongue. It wasn’t as if she had ever done anything terribly wrong.

This was also why Li Yang was willing to help her.

“A good person?” Shen Xu shot him an annoyed glare. “Is she your girlfriend?”

Li Yang was a little embarrassed. “Well… we’re just ordinary friends.”

“There you have it!” Shen Xu rolled her eyes. “You’re just ordinary friends, and you’re going to offend the Xia Family for her?”

Li Yang shook his head and said, “I have no intention of offending the Xia Family. I just want to cure her illness.”

“I don’t care about that, but you’d better not provoke the Xia Family!” Shen Xu warned. “The Xia Family has been in the provincial capital for so many years and has extensive connections. If you do this, you’ll be making an enemy of them.”

Li Yang suddenly sensed something was off. “You know there was something wrong with the Xiao Family fire?”

Shen Xu gave a dry laugh. “Do you take everyone for a fool? It was so obvious, how could people not see it? It’s just that the Xia Family’s work was very clean, so for all these years, there was nothing anyone could do.”

Li Yang stood there, stunned.

“Don’t look at me like that…” Shen Xu shook her head. “I also heard it from my elders. My family… has quite a few people in this line of work. It was a major event back then, so it’s not strange that I’d know a thing or two, right?”

Li Yang nodded, then finally said, “Alright, I understand. I’m just a doctor. All I’m thinking about is curing her illness.”

“Alright, let’s go back,” Shen Xu said. “And stop asking so many questions. Just remember, the Xia Family is not to be trifled with.”

Li Yang didn’t say anything more. He started the car and drove Shen Xu back to Ruizhou.

After a dozen or so grueling hours on the road, they were finally back in Ruizhou.

After saying goodbye to Shen Xu, Li Yang returned to the village.

The first thing he did after returning to the village was find Zhong Lin.

“Here, these are the seeds…” Zhong Lin gave the ginseng seeds to Li Yang. “You can go plant these yourself.”

“Got it!” Li Yang chuckled, took the seeds to the mountain forest, and began to plant them.

After planting the seeds, Li Yang watered them.

All that was left was to wait.

After finishing all this, Li Yang returned to the village.

Just as he returned, he saw Zhao Xuechu driving into the village.

“Miss Zhao…” Seeing Zhao Xuechu arrive, Li Yang was a little surprised, but he immediately took out the clematis. “Alright, it’s good that you’re here. I’ll give you these herbs.”

Zhao Xuechu took the clematis and said with a wry smile, “Thank you so much, for running all over the place for these medicinal herbs.”

“Don’t mention it!” Li Yang shook his head. “It was nothing.”

“By the way, business at Xue Chu Medicine Cuisine is excellent. I’m already preparing to expand again. You’re a shareholder, so I was planning to have a proper talk with you about it.”
